Patti Stanger Needs Another Matchmaker
Over the weekend, Patti Stanger, The Millionaire Matchmaker, called it quits with her fiancee'. The reason? Well, it is hard to figure out from her statements. At one point she said it was because she wanted kids and he did not, but then she said that he wanted kids but they never had time because of her career and the show. Then she said that he just is not a big fan of her industry. What exactly is her industry? Matchmaking or reality television?
"I just ended my relationship with Andy," Stanger Twittered Saturday. "It hit me really hard that I want kids in my life. You have to agree on the non-negotiables."
But then yesterday she told US, "He wanted [kids], but time got away from us, and I was working on the show for three years and we never had time to have a baby so it was that kind of thing. I think what happened is that he is not a fan of this industry and I love it. He really didn't like my work as much as I did."
He is the one who did the breaking up. They just got engaged in May. You know, this is one of those things where they went out forever and then break up right after the engagement. Better than right after the wedding. The engagement probably started them thinking and that is a good thing. Ideally you probably want to figure it out before you ask and statements are released to the press, but it is what it is.
Instead of lying about it they should just say the truth. Is the truth that bad???
ReplyDeleteYeah, when I saw her tweet this weekend, I thought to myself, "Shouldn't the matchmaker know better than to NOT have discussed the kids thing in detail before even getting serious (let alone engaged)??" Sounded kind of weird. I def. think there is more to the story.
ReplyDeleteI think maybe she is just a career girl at heart & got tired of hearing people bitch about her "industry" and the fact she wasn't with anyone herself.
If she can't keep a guy, what luck do the rest of us have?
ReplyDeletei read it diff. i read it as "we both wanted children and my career took over and here we are years later without kids or a marriage"
ReplyDeletethe end.
she's all hype and annoying. this does not surprise me. how many years did they date before the attempt to head down the ailse. 10 years?
ReplyDeletei smell bullshit patti!
They actually got engaged a year ago, so they didn't break up right after getting engaged. I hate myself for knowing this.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I watch her show sometimes and I have a feeling she pushed him into something he wasn't that into. Also, I think her "rules" are sad, sad, sad.
ReplyDeleteshouldnt something like that ruin her business reputation?
ReplyDeleteI figured her man must've been a real lame-o doormat to be with her. Unless she is really different off-camera...
ReplyDeleteI love Patti Stanger. She's a no-nonsense business woman and I love it when she bosses these rich dicks around. Her "Peter Pan" syndrome is classic and spot on.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it says much about her role as a matchmaker just cause her engagement was called off. She'll find the right guy eventually.
Keep your head up, Patti!
The kid thing sounds shady to me. She's nearly 50 years old; under the best of circumstances they'd have needed some serious fertility treatments and then deal with a risky pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteI don't know. At 50 it's good not to have any drama from men or kids. And just how many times do we have to hear about how a woman's career broke up a relationship. That's just sad. I feel bad for her although I don't always agree with what goes on with her show, like fixing up Gummi Bear with someone. Ick! Nast! I find her show interesting and have to wish her the best.
ReplyDeletelol @ Shari. If there's any place to admit knowing it, it's here!
ReplyDeleterelationships can be hard, yo. so hopefully in time she moves on to a guy that's a real match...i can see how this is embarrassing for her tho...poor patti.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the camp that thinks there's something more to this because of the baby statement. When I heard that, I thought, "You dated this man for six years and just NOW you want to have children? You'll both be near 70 when the kids reach adulthood!!!!"
ReplyDeleteI used to not like her show, but now I get a kick out of it. And, actually, I kinda used her advice and now I'm in a the most satisfying, stable and mature relationship I've ever had! (hope I didn't jinx myself! :-O)
I think Jax's take sounds about right. It's hard for some women with successful careers to envision how children can fit into their lives without messing with their success.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm theorizing, but the way Stanger's posts read, it sounds like she kept putting off kids in favor of her work, and her fiancé just got tired of waiting.
Wait a second, Patti is the one who is always talking about getting this kind of stuff out in the open from the beginning so you don't waste time-she didn't follow her own advice? Children should be a discussion early on. She is 49 this year, so is she going to go the Geena Davis route?
ReplyDeletePatti just dispenses common sense.
I smell something fishy, but if a matchmaker is having problems, makes you wonder.
I learned to loath her, her show and the fact she is best friends with Jill Zarin who is satanically evil.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she got dumped, I'm glad she has to find wives for Kurdish men who have fake software companies and nobody legit would use her, she is a liar and a loser, and apparently so bad at her job she's never been married! Good luck in NY, it should be a blood bath.
whatever, i like her and i think she gives some really sound advice. she deals with some really crappy clients who need to be put in place when it comes to their attitude toward women, sex and relationships.
ReplyDeletei got one of her books and she's on point with a lot of her advice. i'm not ready for dating just yet, but when i am, i feel a little more prepared for it thanks to her. just cuz she's not married doesn't mean she's lost credibility- marriage and babies aren't for everyone and doesn't make her less qualified for picking good matches, IMO
