Good Luck To Andy Whitfield

One of the best things about Spartacus has been Andy Whitfield. Sure, I love seeing Lucy Lawless every week, but Andy Whitfield is great. Earlier this year he discussed his fight with cancer and at the time thought he had it beat. Filming of the second season had been delayed while he got treatment for his cancer and it was hoped he would be ready to start shooting again soon thereafter.

Unfortunately, Andy has had a recurrence of the cancer and is leaving the show. Lucy Lawless and John Hannah will be the focus of the new season which begins airing in January.

  4. Actually season 2 was supposed to start shooting in January for a September 2011 start.

Starz said they will go on with the show without Andy.

The mini season episodes with John & Lucy are about pre Spartacus and were meant to bridge the two seasons since it would be so far apart.

Wonder who they will get to replace Andy or go in a whole new direction.

  9. That's such sad news. I hope that he can beat whatever kind of cancer he has. My mother-in-law is in her last days on earth because of this dreadful disease. It is gut wrenching whatching what is happening to her. I'm just glad that she's so doped up on pain meds that she probably doesn't really realize what is happening.
