BuzzFoto Blind Item

This Blind takes place on the set of a period piece made within the last couple of years. Two female characters, both well known names. After a long day of shooting, one of the stars (who had been drinking throughout the day) got careless with her cigarette and set fire to a very expensive dress. She managed to put out the flames and took the dress to her costar’s trailer (who is also a smoker). She set up the scene to look like the costar was the one who had burned the dress and the production company was very upset with the actress. To this day, the costar thinks she was responsible for the debacle, but we know better!

  1. Whenever I hear "period piece", I think Keira Knightly or Emily Blunt.

  3. So, I looked at "period pieces" from 2007 until now, and I don't really see that many. Keira Knightly was in Pride and Prejudice (with Judi Dench and Moya Brady?) and there was Cheri starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kathy Bates, but I don't think that works at all..

I get bored just reading "period piece" - not my scene.

  4. Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johanson on The Other Boleyn Girl. Despite their healthy image I think I've seen pictures of both smoking at various times.

  5. Evan Rachel and Kate Winslet?

  6. Wouldn't the wardrobe people know which actress was assigned to wear which costume?

  7. What about "The Other Boleyn Girl" back in 08?? Doesn't Scarlett smoke?

  8. good call weezy. one would think that wardrobe would know who the dress actually belonged to.

  9. What about Atonement? No guess at who, but it was a period piece.

  10. My thought was Keira Knightly and Sienna Miller. Weren't they in a "period piece" together a couple of years ago?

  12. I think FluffyElmo is on to something. But who would have been drinking all day? I know they both smoke, but I didn't know either was known for lots of drinking.

  13. i think FluffyElmo got it right. I live in ely, where they filmed most of that movie, and that would have been the least of the damage done by that cast.

  14. @weezy: i thought the exact same thing.

kirsten dunst and judy davis for marie antoinette?

  15. I immediately thought: The Other Boleyn Girl too.

  16. I also immediately thought of Scarlett Johanssen (sp?) and Natalie Portman in The Other Boleyn Girl. Isn't Natalie Portman the answer to a Blind Item about how she never returns dresses back to designers and is banned from borrowing them? I can see her being careless with the dress and blaming this on scar jo.

  17. Zellweger and Kidman in "Cold Mountain".

  19. Sounds like the Other Boleyn Girl. Both actresses smoke, and Natalie Portman is known for being a jerk, so it sounds like something she would do.

  20. So late with this but I also immediately thought of Natalie and Scarlett. Other way around, though: Scarlett the drinker and Natalie the one she pinned it on, for two reason:

    1. Natalie is a strict vegan, she won't even eat gelatin. So I don't see her being a drinker.
    2. If Natalie is the blind about borrowed dresses, a set-up by Scarlett would be more believable when Natalie appeared to have been careless with this one also.

  21. How about the one made for HBO, Grey Gardens with Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange? Both are smokers the movie featured alcoholism, it's possible they were a little too "in character" JAT...

  22. The only way someone could get away with this is if for some reason their characters had to wear the same dress at some point in the film as a pivotal plot point. But then, wouldn't wardrobe have more than one of the dress on set?

And the Natalie Portman/Scarlett johannsen guesses, how could Natalie wear something Scarlett could fit? They're not exactly body doubles of each other.

  23. what does being a strict vegan have to do with not drinking alcohol?

    ReplyDelete
  24. For me it follows that people who take good care of themselves tend not to be the sort of people who drink alcohol all day long. It doesn't have anything to do directly with her veganism, I just think she's a health-conscious person. But if she smokes, eh. Maybe.

  25. The blind doesn't say *where* she set fire to the dress on the set, or that it was specifically her character's dress. I could see it hanging up on a rack somewhere and little drunken stumble into the rack causing a small cigarette burn. Obviously the fire wasn't huge or the 'burnt in the trailer' lie wouldn't have worked.

  26. The majority of people that are vegans do so because of animal rights and welfare, not health. I haven't touched meat and most other animal products for going on 6 years for that reason, and I get my drink on pretty regularly and dabbled with drugs about 4 years ago.

  27. @Bubbles: I don't think the blind is saying the actress tried to make it look like her dress actually belonged to the co-star. It could have still been the actress's dress and wound up somehow in another trailer. Maybe it looked like the co-star borrowed it or was trying it on or it was accidentally-on-purpose left there.

  28. @RocketQueen: I know that, and I'm sure there are many others like you. A Wikipedia source references a 2006 poll in which 51% of respondents gave that as their reason. I just think she's a health-conscious person in that way. I don't see Natalie Portman drinking alcohol all day long, she just doesn't seem the type. That's all.

  29. I would seriously question that "only" 51% of people are vegan for ethical reasons. But perhaps that's because there are none in my circle. I'll look into it.
Regardless, I don't think this blind is about Portman, generally.

  30. Where is there an 'only' in my post that needed quoting?

  32. Just a thought on the Natalie Portman argument but I can't see her being health conscious if she smokes. Scartlett has talked about having anxiety issues which I know some people alleviate that with alcohol. Just sayin'.

  33. since i always like to place a shot in the dark...

what about kirsten dunst and rose byrne? they were in marie antoinette together, and those dresses had to be a fortune.
