Tsunami In Japan - 5th Largest Earthquake In History
Here I was watching Outsourced, and the next thing I know there is a break to talk about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Have you ever seen video like this before? A 13 foot wave that just goes on and on. Just watching it cross the fields. Can you imagine if there were buildings in the way? I know there are lots of readers in Japan and I am thinking of you and hope you are staying safe.

Wow. Almost a 9.0. Geeze. Fingers crossed for everyone.
Watching it on the news right now here in Los Angeles, scared shitless. Stay safe, everyone.
Praying for all to be safe!
This tends to put everything in perspective very quickly. I'm hoping and praying that everyone stays safe and Japan recovers quickly.
I watched the footage earlier this morning. I hope everyone is safe. There are tsunami warning alerts for a lot of areas including Hawaii. >> Living in Los Angeles my entire, I've lived in fear of this happening to us since Northridge. I always pray the mountains surrounding us here will be our savior if a tsunami hits.
..my entire *life
My best friend's dad and his wife live in Sendai. We can't get a hold of his cell, goes straight to voicemail.
This is terrible.
I do hope everyone can stay safe. I'm sure those of you along the pacific are on pins and needles right now. My thoughts go out to the people of Japan, and those who have families in danger areas now.
@Blood-prayers for your friend's dad. I am sure it is difficult to get in touch with anyone over there right now, so breath deep.
oh my goodness.
Thoughts go out to all affected by this.
@Bloodonthescreen - My thoughts with your friend's dad and his wife and your friend. Cell service has to be terrible there right now. It's a mess in Los Angeles if we have a 4.5.
My thoughts and prayers are with Japan and all of the other countries that are affected. I cannot imagine going through this, it is just horrific. Sending love and hugs to all of you.
BOTS: There are other ways to get a hold of people, too - google has set up a People finder website http://japan.person-finder.appspot.com/
Washington has a tsunami warning too, but it seems as though we are not going to see any activity. My thoughts are with all of those touched by this
sssooo scary! our schools on the Washington Coast are on a 2 hour delay, and they are starting to see some small effects.
My thoughts and prayers are with all affected by this event -
I've been speechless since I randomly checked NPR around 2 in the morning. It's just utterly horrific.
My heart goes out to the people of Japan.
Frightening, I can't even begin to imagine what they're going through....Prayers
Thoughts are with everyone - this is terrible.
The video is something you'd think you'd see in movies, not in real life. The destruction is unbelievable. Prayers for your friend's family and everyone else affected.
The devastation is overwhelming. The power of mother nature is quite humbling.
Living in southern CA, I wonder when we're going to have our long overdue earthquake.
Over the last few years there have been huge earthquakes in all corners of the pacific. First Sumatra and the resulting tsunami, then Chile, now Japan and a minor quake in Hawaii. The pacific coast of North America is next. Alaska had an earthquake over 9.0 back in the 1960's. Very scary.
Oops, I forgot the recent New Zealand earthquake too.
@amazonblue - after Japan, that's all I can think about, too. In Vancouver. We are SO overdue. It's going to be bad. And the way things seems to be going with our planet right now....maybe soon.
Sorry... I lost my signal. The nuclear plant is having issues.
Prayerss to them.
Japan is infamous for horrible quakes. The East Pacific Rise and the region (LA west coast) is not capable of an earthquake that large. Anyway, I expect it to be downgraded. They always guess high.
It wasn't 13 foot walls of water - it was 30 foot walls of water. Makes it even scarier. Can't imagine being chased down by something like this :(
*feels like the grammar/correction police today but I'm a stickler"
I heard it as a 30 foot wave, not 13 foot.
Either way, it's horrific and my heart goes out to them.
The coverage of all this is just heartbreaking. Prayers out there for Japan & all those affected. :(
