Matt Lauer Leaving Today

As of now, Matt Lauer says he is planning on leaving Today next year when his current contract expires. Considering it does not expire until December 31, 2012, he sure is giving way more than his two week notice. It comes during the same week that Meredith Vieira is also bidding adieu to the program. It seems like Matt has been on the show forever. I mean that literally. He went from fresh faced youngster to a guy with a lot of gray hair. I have to say that it must suck getting up at 3am everyday. Yes, I know he gets paid a lot of money and does not have to drive himself to work every morning, but 3am is early and it is everyday. I would hate going to bed every night at 7pm. You must be constantly tired.

  3. Please, please, please... replace Lauer with Willie Geist and set him free from an undeserved third seat on Morning Joe.

  5. Meredith is saying that she wants to spend more time with the family.

I'd hate to miss out on the NYC night-life just for a free trip to Libya.

  6. On top of getting up at 3am daily, he travels a good bit too, so I'd imagine he's always exhausted. I know I couldn't keep that schedule for very long.

  8. Meredith's husband has MS, so I am sure that is taking it's toll. Matt is tired of missing all of the women he can cheat on his wife with by going to bed so early. Loser.

  9. I thought he was in love with Katie Couric. I seriously doubt she is coming back to her old stomping grounds-that would wound her pride and make her look like an epic failure.

    Whatever they do-no Ann Curry!

  10. How much money do these people need anyways? Haven't they heard of the Caribbean? Fiji?? Hawaii??? Get a life people!

  11. I'm wondering if he wants to take over the CBS Evening News chair after the '12 presidential election. Of course, the logical answer would be: {snort!}, but he does strike me as slightly delusional where his talents are concerned.
