Danielle Staub Gives Up Stripping - Blames It On Childhood Sexual Abuse

The thing is Danielle Staub will say or do anything to stay in the headlines. So, when she makes a very serious claim that she was sexually abused as a child and keeps the suicide hotline number in her cell phone, you have to take it seriously, but at the same time you also wonder if she is telling the truth. Danielle gave an interview to Kneepads after the stripping photos came out this week and she said she only did it because her past managers talked her into signing the deal, but then she said she also did it because she has low self esteem issues rooted in childhood sexual abuse and that she is also suicidal. That is a lot for one interview. She did manage to also plug her new reality show though. If I were the Kneepads reporter, I would want to see that cellphone. Do you believe Danielle or do you think she is trying to stay in the headlines?

  1. I think Danielle saw that RHONJ got their highest ratings ever on Monday night and she is trying to get in the limelight somehow. So glad she isn't on there anymore - I can enjoy my guilty pleasure again :)

  2. I do find it interesting that every memoir coming out now the hook for each one seems to be childhood sexual abuse.

Maybe she jumped on the bandwagon maybe it happend. Maybe people just feel more comfortable about speaking out.

It is hard to say. But it is better to put it in the light rather then hide it.

  3. I don't believe her. Just don't. I think she has borderline personality disorder or maybe is just a plain ol' sociopath/compulsive liar.

  4. I love that so many people said RHNJ would bomb without Danielle, it's the best season ever after one episode.

  5. I could see it, but I don't know. On one hand she's a mental/emotional wreck and says all sorts of crazy things, but on the other you have to wonder where all that comes from. Could be abuse. Boh. Who knows?

  6. Well, sadly it wouldn't be the first time a victim of sexual abuse grew up desperate for attention and love, and completely unable to see the difference between the two. I make a lot of jokes about girls with daddy issues, but I do hope that people don't lie about that kind of stuff just to stay in the headlines.

They're always horrible stories, but at the same time, it's probably a good thing that so many victims are coming out and telling them, so that kids who may be in that situation now know that it's not OK and it's not their fault. So they know how to tell someone.

  8. Ugh, who knows. I just want to stop hearing about her. Strange she didn't pimp out this information earlier, though.

  9. She wouldn't know the truth if it put a twenty in her g-string.

  10. The way that Danielle is overly and overtly sexual, its probably true that she was sexually abused since she is always seeking love thru sex. But she needs to get real help if not for herself then for her daughters. What kind of example is she setting for her young daughters? I feel that with her publicity stunts then she retracts pulling out the sex abuse card diminishes other victims and their experiences.

  12. the problem with being an ugly human being and a chronic liar is that nobody believes you when you tell the truth.
why couldn't she just quietly go to a good therapist (if this is even true)? why drew pinsky? his batting average isn't very good lately, by the way.

  14. I have never seen her RH show, but just from the tabs I know she is one crazy bitch. She will do anything for a buck and seems to have no moral compass whatsoever. I hope that she gets some help and soon for her children's sake. Ugh.

  15. This newest whiny bs is just a set up for her to "need" to go into celebrity rehab with Dr. Fake so she can earn some money and a few more minutes of fame. She's so repulsive.

  17. There is something about her sudden self awareness that makes me uncomfortable. I know from experience that working through childhood abuse issues is messy and can take many, many years of therapy to get to the root of self sabotaging behaviors. If it's true for her, then living out her sudden self revelation in this public manner is not a good idea because those emotions are messy and they get messier once you realize them and take ownership (ie, the public declaration is freeing but the living with them afterwards is the part that takes the work). Maybe it's just me (who is childless by choice) but when you are in this much emotional turmoil, it's probably better to NOT have kids and keep the cycle going. Having a mother in the public eye like this is probably not going to be good for her daughters. I'm so disgusted with reality TV right now and what it does to people who equate selling their souls for fame.

  18. I believe that she was a victim, but I don't think doing the stripper thing has anything to do with that. I also don't think revealing that she was a victim of sexual abuse has anything to do with healing from it. You don't have to spill all or show all -- It's just a ploy for attention.

  19. I can buy that she was abused because she seems personality disordered as hell.

  21. I am certain she was abused as a child, but it turned her into a narcissist and a borderline personality, not a depressive.

  22. I sincerely wish that no one was disturbed enough to make something like that up. However, I know there are people that do. That's got to be the lowest of the low. I think even if she was abused, she is exploiting it for attention, not doing this with the hope of helping other people out there who have gone through the same thing, which is sad.

  23. (First time commenter. Long time reader.)

I am compelled to say that I wouldn't believe Ms. Staub if she told me that today was Thursday.

She might be telling the truth, but she's told so many lies I can't believe her now.

  25. While I think it's entirely possible she's telling the truth & would explain some of her former life actions, I kind of feel like her coming out with this now is more about saving face over the decision to strip for that brief stint....
