Blind Items Revealed
June 27, 2011
Long before 420 got its special meaning, this studio head would have sex with some unlucky female employee of the studio every working day at 4pm. Apparently at lunch time he would pick his victim and they would be told to be in the boss' office promptly at 4pm.

Ahh thanks guys except for the Lucille Ball one the old Hollywood ones are over my head ;-) but I like to see that we are no more screwed up as a society now then back in the day lol
Congrats to everyone who guessed this one right on the nose.
@Serena
You simply cannot be serious.
Daryl Zanuck was one of *THE* great studio heads.
He literally created 20th Century Fox studios - and lasted until he got canned in 1971.
Seriously, check out his IMDB entry for his bio.
I'm SO glad this wasn't Louis B. Mayer. Or Samuel Goldwyn.
What is the meaning of "420"?
@Cake
It's now a slang term for pot smoking, said to be derived from the police call numbers for a marijuana bust, 420.
You guys have great night and I look forward to seeing the blog tomorrow. As well as other blogs who'll surely pick up on this and claim it.
Now I am off to cover my newly arrived in LA cousin in kisses and hugs.
Be safe you guys!
there is a great documentary called Girl 27. It is about a show girl who was raped during a Goldwyn-Mayer Studio sales man convention. How the studio covered it up, what happend to her. It is hard to watch but gave good insight how powerful the studio were and how women were treated like chattle.
Thank you Merlin D. Bear
It was also said to be that high school ended in L.A. at 4:20 so they would meet at 4:20..
This guy's a CREEP!
@timebob - That sounds interesting. Will have to check that out.
I was googling this dude (I didn't know who he was either! :-/) & there was a pretty interesting article on him and his kids. I guess it was rumored that this guy is one of the ones to have "invented" the casting couch.
