Mila Kunis Dumps Marine

As much positive press that Mila Kunis got for agreeing to go to the Marine Corps Ball with a Marine, her life will be one big explanation and a lot of anger if she stands the guy up like Access Hollywood is reporting she will. Mila was invited on a date by a Marine on YouTube. Justin Timberlake said she should go out with the guy and she agreed. Now though she is having second thoughts. She says she has two movies filming and just does not have the time even though this thing is months away. Now she just wants to do a quick meet and greet. Not cool. Not at all. Seriously, if you cannot get a few hours off several months from now, you are only going to make yourself look horrible. Mila might have been having second thoughts but she needs to suck it up and go. Yes, Justin talked her into it, but Mila needs to come out right now and say how excited she is to go or she is going to come across as the biggest diva ever who does not care about the troops, only herself.

  1. Agreed...she shouldn't have said YES if she didn't really want to do it. I wouldn't have thought she was a horrible person if she'd said "no" to start with.

  2. It was only a matter of time....

She needs to man up and go at this point.

What I find concerning is how nonsense like this gets blown up and reported as actual news. I couldn't care less if she goes and if she doesn't, it wouldn't change my mind about her. Also, has she actually been quoted for anything regarding this? It seems to me it's all coming from "insiders," etc.

  4. Well turnabout is fair play. A woman has JT so it's only fair if be says yes.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I mean asked JT to the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Well then where would it end? Will she have to accept every invitation from every enlisted person for the rest of her life or else be labeled a horrible person?

    ReplyDelete
  7. I think the woman asked JT after Mila accepted.

She can't win here. If she doesn't accept, she looks like a jerk.

  8. I kind of feel bad for her, but at this point she does have to go. But can you imagine the media frenzy at this dinner, yech. She should go on a double date. With JT and the other woman.

    ReplyDelete
  9. She was kind of forced into it, but it's too late now -- she HAS to go.

  10. Yes, she has to go at this point. But I feel bad for her. She's put on the spot & I do believe had good intentions when she said she would go. But how many other famous people get asked to do something by our troops and get ignored? It's become a much bigger story than it should have & JT should have kept his mouth closed. As Taylor said, where will it end?

Somewhere, up above, Bob Hope is shaking his head at Mila.

  12. Did she KNOW he asked her on a bet when she said yes? I don't think so. I think that came up a few days later. When is it ever appropriate to ask someone out on a bet, man or woman? Never?!?!??! Yeah, I think never. He's a douchebag. Degrading and demeaning anyone is just wrong.

She's in a tough spot. Who knows is the marine is even a nice guy. He could be some stalker, for all we know, though I doubt anything would happen because there's been so much attention surrounding this story.

Still, Mila got pushed into agreeing and it's natural for her to have second doubts. But just to spare herself the heartache, she'll probably go. If for no other reason than to avoid the bad press not going would bring.

  14. In my dating days I used to use a stalling technique when asked out unexpectedly - you know, "Um, I have to check my calender" or "I think I already have plans, let me check" or in my youth "I have to ask my mom". Surely a famous person would have a few stalling techniques at the ready.

As for the bet - it's probably one of those "I bet $50.00 you don't have the nerve to make a video and ask her out" kind of bet. Probably said after this guy was talking about how much he liked her.

  15. Once she said yes, she was stuck. At this point it isn't about this guy, it's about the Marines and supporting the troops. If she backs out it will look horrible for her.

  16. I agree, too. There's no danger in going, especially with bodyguards and the press along. She doesn't even have to stay for the whole event. Just an hour or two -- long enough for some photo ops and some friendly conversation -- and that's it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. She's not contractually obligated to go. She didn't sign anything. She just "agreed" to go. That being said, I hope she does say no...because it'd nice to see one person not kiss the ass of the military.

    ReplyDelete
  18. @ nightmare child...totally agree. What they do is a job...that they chose to do (some because they had very few other options in life and/or little to no education) they get paid money for.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Access Hollywood? Don't believe a word of it. How would they know what Mila's thinking? Mario Lopez is too busy kissing Paris Hilton's ass to care about this.

Mila said she'd go - she even seemed happy about going. Her people have apparently contacted the marine and confirmed it.

    So, yeah.

Slow news week for Access Hollywood I guess.

From the very beginning she could have said that she needed to check her calendar. Instead she went straight ahead and said yes she would go. So she better keep her word.

    ReplyDelete
  21. "Agreed...she shouldn't have said YES if she didn't really want to do it."

She was TOTALLY put on the spot though...which I think is really unfair. That said, I still hope she goes because in the long run it's much better PR than any of those damn junket presers.

  22. Timberlake was trying to make himself look good by "taking care of this" for the Marine. In doing so he blindsided this poor girl, on tv, forcing her to accept the date. Of course she said yes. Backing out now would be stupid, though. Conflict or no, get on a plane and go and make the man's day. And mean it. This guy has a real job involving real sacrifice, works hard, and risks his life for little pay, so be appreciative.

Also, the commenters on here taking this as an opportunity to talk down the military are sweaty fetid mouthbreathing morons. The worst person in the military is 10 times better than you lot.

BTW, there was a item on this blog a few weeks ago about Jamie Leigh Jones and her rape case against a subsidiary of Halliburton. It really got the anti-military mouthbreathers around here all excited. As it turns out, the verdict came back against her, there was a lot of contradictions in her story and she couldn't make her case, even and despite that she testified that she would donate the award to charity.

  23. @Lori and Thenightmare child. You suck.

As for Mila, there are lots of Marine Balls at different locations and times. There is no way she wouldn't be able to make any of the balls being held that month. I hope she follows through with this guy.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Um, Amartel, can you show me where Haliburton is the military? Military-industrial complex, maybe, war profiteers, yeah, probably, inside dealers defrauding the government and taxpayers, definitely; but military? Don't think so.

That said, part of a Hollywood star's job description is promotion, and accepting this invitation falls into that category. The job or jobs she might be working that month would get good pub for adjusting their schedules for a day or two and paying her way to this event. And she'll never have to accept another one of these things--she'll have established her street cred with enough people.

    ReplyDelete
  25. enough of the dramaaaaaa. she needs to get over herself and she should just go. its a few hours. these marines and other soldiers give years of their lives and sometimes their actual lives so that we can be safe. it has nothing to do with whether you believe in the war effort.

some entertainers go oversees and actually entertain the troops and put themselves in grave danger. and Mila can't take a few hours off from her busy schedule? seriously? does she have a mani-pedi scheduled or something?

the girl is pretty, but its just blind luck that she has a career, as she's just a bit more talented than ashton. a bit.

she said yes, which was the right thing to do. if she backs out now, there will be hell to pay for her. she'll be labeled unamerican and frankly, her narcissism is making whatshername portman look generous. gag.

    ReplyDelete
  26. JT pushed her into a corner with this. What Mila should've said was "I might have to check my schedule." But Hell she couldn't of said "No" on live television. She is not obligated to do anything. I think a meet and greet is perfectly fine. We don't know her work schedule. She may not be able to fly over when she's filming.

  28. The ONLY thing that would give me any trepidation about attending this event, if I were her, would be the hundreds of annoying people asking me for autographs and begging to take pictures with me or whatever THE WHOLE TIME. I know that this is supposed to be a fun gala -- and I'm sure it's a total blast if you're a Marine or related to one -- but for Mila, it's just a red carpet event without that handy barrier to keep people at bay.

It's not as if this dude is going to get a single SECOND alone with her. But I think she should definitely do it -- and not as a pro-military stance or anything, but because she AGREED to, and it's rude to opt out at this point. If Nerdling Von Poindexter were to ask her to Comic-Con -- and if she said yes, even grudgingly -- she'd be obligated to hang out with him for an evening, too.

    Suck it up, Mila. C'mon.

  29. I wonder if JT has responded to the female marine who asked him out. A nice, face-saving way to resolve this would be for Mila and Justin to double date with the marines. Mila and Justin get to look good, the marines get some face time with their favorite celebs, it's less awkward with 4 people, everyone's happy. And maybe, just maybe, JT will begin to learn to think before he speaks. Mila too.

But has she said anything? This is a really unfair corner people are backing her into.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ummm....is it me or am I the only one that thinks she's getting off easy? Celebrities that travel with the USO to entertain the troops do so in pretty yuck conditions and she gets to support the military in a designer gown with air conditioning. She can afford to fly in, do her thing and fly out -- first class, both ways. She gets to look great for a few hours worth of work. How many "kindnesses" do we ohhh and ahhhh over that take way longer than a few hours?

So, yeah, Mila? STFU & go.... And when you get back, take JT out back and beat him. Seriously. Please.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Lori - Thank you for seeing reason.

@Amartel - Did you see the words "fuck the military" anywhere in my post? No, you didn't. All I said was it'd really nice if ONE person, specifically, one CELEBRITY didn't bend over and kiss the ass of the military. That's all. There are far too many people giving them larger and larger cases of unwarranted self-entitlement. Next thing you know, they're going to want more and more and more...and people are going to keep giving them more...and more...and more...until people aren't joining the military for noble purposes, but for the perks. The self entitlement complex of most of the military personnel I've met is absolutely disgusting. I have respect for the military personnel who keep their mouths shut, do their jobs and come home, not for the ones who use their uniform to pull dates with celebrities...so if that makes me a sweaty fetid mouthbreather, then allow me to take off my sweat-soaked knickers and wring them out in your mouth.

If this was ANY OTHER person, this wouldn't even be a news story and because it's a goddamn Marine, she's in a catch-22 position. If she says no, then she's a horrible hateful bitch who loathes America and eats kittens for breakfast. And if she says yes, then she's going to have to drop all of her previous obligations (and to piggyback on what previous posters have said, we don't know her work schedule...she might be shooting something) to fufill the wishes of one Marine who clearly couldn't even find a date, despite the pull of the uniform. And again, if this was any normal person, no one would give two shits or even be championing him.

  33. i HOPE this is not true. my god, she really needs to just do this and go along with the fun spirit.

  34. Ive been to a couple of these and theyre alot of fun, it usually turns into one bring drunk fest...Its in November, she has enough time to back out of this gracefully if thats what she chooses to do...Lori are you serious? I really hope you said that for shock value and its not really your ignorant opinion.

  35. Good. He shouldn't have essentially guilted her into it in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Did SHE or her reps ever say yes publicly, as opposed to someone else saying it for her?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I thought she did say herself that she would go. Hard to say, though. Doing a quick news search didn't really help--she's going, she's not going, no, wait, she's going after all, etc.

As far as I can tell, someone mentioned the YouTube invite to her during a press event on the red carpet. She said something nice but neutral and JT was the one who really put her on the spot, saying, "You gotta do it, it's your patriotic duty" or something like that.

I kind of think JT is the most at fault. He should stfu more, or at least think before he speaks. What a dickhead.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Justin Timberlake gets into a lot of trouble with women (see Janet Jackson). He should have kept his mouth shut.

That being said, Mila - you said yes - you didn't have to say yes - show up, have a dance with the soldier, take some photos, sign some autographs, and say you have to get back to work. There you go.

And Justin - I think you should show up, too.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Justin should ABSOLUTELY show up too. If he doesn't, I hope he gets even more flak than Mila's getting.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I am in complete agreement that JT should have to go, since it is technically his fault that she is in this predicament in the first place. I wonder what kind of exchange they had after all this blew up?

  42. He has to go. She should wear her Dress Blues, with cutlass, and make him wear her Class A tiara. And if she deigns to take him home after the ball, she should ride him wearing her campaign cover.

    ReplyDelete
  43. This is ridiculous. She was pressured into it during an interview and was caught off guard.
When it comes to dating, it's her personal life. She has the right to change her mind, no matter what the guy's profession is or how it will make her look.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think this is funny, because Kunis is not even American! She is a Russian citizen. She has a green card, but I don't think she has ever become a U.S. citizen.

From all I have read, she is not going and the Marine knows it.

    ReplyDelete
  45. @ Sarah Jane... yes, I am serious. I'm not saying that all people join for that reason, but it is a pretty well known fact that a great many people that graduate high school (or not) and don't know what to do with their lives and/or lack the capacity or interest in pursuing higher education join the military. Some others join for educational oportunities, some join out of a desire to protect their country, some because, "hey...it's a job" (like my sister's ex)...there are many reasons that people join, but not all are out of some great desire to perform a civic or patriotic duty. To believe so is naive, in my opinion. To be fair, mine is not an "ignorant opinion", but a well informed one. I have a family member that is a higher ranking civilian working with a branch of the military and has earned the highest civilian awards, as well as enlisted friends and family. I also work with more than a few former military persons. I have lived in two military cities...one air force and one naval. The fact that you dont agree with me doesnt make me less informed, ignorant, or as a very polite Amartel put it, "a sweaty fetid mouthbreather". I have respect for all people that perform their job to the best of their ability, but the armed forces are doing just that...performing a job that they earn an income for performing. I don't think that deserves the type of deity status that a lot of people assign to them. Nor do I think that the fact that the gentleman is a marine warrent's Kunis' requirment to accept his invitation. I think it is sad that if she doesnt she is going to be vilainized in the media as anti-American, unpatriotic, rude, etc...
