Today's Blind Item

An easy one to start. This television tattoo artist who seems to be more famous for who she dates rather than her tattoos does not have much respect from many of her fellow artists. They think she gives the industry a bad name because she has posted photos of herself doing tattoos without gloves or other safety precautions which is pretty scary when you are talking about blood and needles.

  1. An easy blind, but still an interesting one.

I wonder why she hasn't been cited for health code violations? I'd think that CA would crack down on that stuff, particularly if there's footage of her breaking certain rules.

Then again, Paris Hilton has openly said that she has seventeen dogs, which I'm ASSUMING is beyond the Los Angeles legal limit, and she hasn't been busted.

Gee. Do famous people get away with tons of bullshit? I CAN'T TELL.

  2. I get so annoyed when I go into Sephora and I see her make-up line....

  3. @Misch, thank you!! I thought it was just me. Who the hell is buying it? And why is it always up front.

It's a shame Kat's personality is so vile, because she does have talent.

  4. That really grosses me out that she doesn't wear gloves. There's a valid reason for wearing them. Kat has always bugged me.

  7. OMG I see her all the time in the Target that is almost next door to her shop. I'll make sure to stay away from her!
BTW, wearing sunglasses inside doesn't keep you hidden sweetie, perhaps if you hadn't tattooed your face?

  8. I think she lost a lot of respect from fellow artists when she left Miami Ink and left the Jewish owner a message with "Burn in hell Jewbag" written on a picture of herself, with a swastika.

  9. ^Wow. I guess that explains the Jesse James mutual attraction!

  10. Goddamn, I wish Kat Von D would click her tacky stripper heels together three times and fuck off for good. Same goes for anyone who's dumb enough to get inked by her.

She's a scratcher (basement tattoo artist). She wasn't properly apprenticed & has admitted to not going by the book when it comes to safety and hygiene.

And you want to talk talent? Hannah Aitchinson's left big toe has more talent than Kat Von D will ever hope to have.

  11. Possibly the least blind blind ever, but interesting nonetheless. I can see why the tattoo community is pissed--they, as well as the rest of the body mod community, take sterility very, very seriously. Having someone who is easily one of the most visible representations of that community flagrantly and publicly failing to adhere to basic safety rules must be infuriating, to say the least.

MISCH - Me too! I was looking on their website last week and I was disgusted to see her line.

  14. Kat has a makeup line? Wow.

My knowledge of Kat Von D is minimal as I never watched her show, but she seemed like an utter uber-dork on that clip Enty posted of her showing goose-stepping Jesse her tattoo of his grade school picture. I wonder how she's gonna that that erased? Maybe she should call Angelina and ask how she got rid of her Billy Bob tatt...

  15. lol Nightmare child - excellent first paragraph - made me laugh!

Speaking of hygiene, you gotta wonder how filthy that wig she wears every day is...how do you clean those things?

  16. Her makeup line is actually really good, especially the eyeshadow palettes, if you happen to be into that sorta thing...*L*

I knew that a lot of tattoo artists don't really take her all that seriously, but I don't think it's fair to call her a scratcher. A few friends of mine got work done by her a few years ago at a convention (remember when she still did those?) and they are AMAZING tattoos. I do think she has great artistic talent - but no matter how talented you are, you should really try to go above and beyond hygienic standards every time to stick a needle in someone's skin, don't you think?

Also, like I have said many times before, I really HATE the way she talks! Makes me want to rip my ears out!!!

  17. I agree with Maja...the makeup is actually really good.

  19. I personally think that fame ruins people and this is a prime example.

I used to like her and almost only watched LA Ink because of her and was kind of excited she got a spin off. Stopped watching when they ran out of stuff to put and started making fake drama.

Trying to be more positive in life, but sometimes the people on this site make me wish bad on them!

  20. You guys are so mean! I understand you may not like her but I can't think of a time when she's ever said/done anything mean and I've never seen her tweet a pic. of her w/o gloves on. I don't use her makeup but I have no idea why that would be a valid criticism of her tattoo work. Weirdos.

  22. Nerdista---Jessica posted the anti-Semetic link. I don't know about you, but I don't consider that very nice.

  23. Nope, not nice at all.

  24. Yeah, pretty sure antisemitism is way up there on the not-so-nice list
