Four For Friday - With Some From Fashion Week

#1 & #2 - This former A+ comic movie actor and now still one in his mind, but probably just a B never speaks to this other A list movie actor. The reason? Although they both go both ways, they love guys the most and fought over one guy in particular who actually ended up going with neither of them because they both would not stop bugging him.

#3 - Apparently Russian mobsters are out in force this week and were also at Paris Fashion Week. They basically threaten every Eastern European model with bodily harm unless the model gives up almost everything they make during the shows. When one A++ list designer was told about the troubling trend, he said, " Why should I care about them? I have a show to do. The show is about my designs and the models are secondary. If one of my models gets hurt, I can find another one in a second."

#4 - This foreign born actress is probably a B-/C+ here although she did star in one of the highest grossing movies ever. Mostly though her work has been done in her native country so most of us would need subtitles. Anyway, she is married. She also has a boyfriend. This sounds so Tilda Swinton. I wonder if this is more common in Europe. Anyway, she brought both of them to a premiere and was asked about them and she said something to the effect of when I don't feel like sex or am out of town they enjoy each other and when I am hope we all have each other.

  1. #1: Mike Meyers
    #3: I agree about Lagerfeld
    #4: Marion Cotillard (Inception)?

    ReplyDelete
  2. #1 could also be Eddie Murphy.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Karl was my first thought.

    ReplyDelete
  4. 1 and 2. Jim Carrey and Mike Myers each came to mind, but I wonder if it's someone a little older and more legendary. Eddie Murphy?

    3. DEFINITELY Kunty Karl.

    4. Oooh. Marion?! But wouldn't she be higher than C/B? She JUST had a baby, too; I kinda can't see her having the time to juggle two men.

Shit, I'm just going to disregard the rankings from now on. They never end up making sense once reveal time comes around.

    ReplyDelete
  5. #3: Marion Cotillard isn't actually married to actor Guillaume Canet.
I take it back and assume it is Gong Li or Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon)

    ReplyDelete
  6. Hmmmm maybe #1 & 2 are from the Shrek franchise with Mike Meyers or Eddie Murphy being the comic actor and Antonio Banderas being the A-list actor?

    ReplyDelete
  7. @Angela -- Gong and Michelle are each awesome guesses, but this part of the blind:

"I wonder if this is more common in Europe..."

...makes me think it's someone more like Marion.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Eddie Murphy is permanent A list IMHO so he can't be the now B list comic movie actor. Maybe "other A list movie actor" is Eddie? Mike Meyers and Jim Carrey seem like permanent fixtures on the A list too. I can see falling off the A list if you're only wildly popular for a little while but all these guys are long term popular. This whole categorization by list thing is unreliable.

  9. wow, the model thing is scary! why do they keep doing the shows? if they aren't making any money they get to keep; what' the point?

    ReplyDelete
  10. The designer creature is repulsive. Hope he gets beaten by a Russian mobster.

    ReplyDelete
  11. 1 & 2 - No clue by Mike Meyers is someone that came to mind.

#3 - like the karl guess.

#4 - marion was also my first instinct, eventhough her marriage is only common law. i guess it depends on what "one of the highest grossing movies ever" means. crouching tiger hidden dragon isn't even in the top 100. i only really looked at movies int he top 50 and marion makes the most sense.

  12. #1 - Jim Carrey, Tom Cruise, Will Smith, John Travolta, Eddie Murphy, take your pick.

  13. I heard about Armenian gangsters being quite active in Paris, rather than Russians. But I guess that from L.A., they all look the same.

Cotillard has starred in Public Enemies, Inception and the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises. She wouldn't be C+. Regarding other French actresses, Audrey Tautou (Amélie, The Da Vinci Code) isn't married either.

But there's Monica Bellucci. Married. She had a premiere in Venice a few days ago. Was in Matrix Reloaded, Matrix Revolutions and Passion of the Christ.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 1&2-Like the Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy guess. Mike Myers was the first to come to mind.

    3-Definitely Kunty Karl

4-Marion Collitard was the first person I thought of

    ReplyDelete
  15. Marion is not married.

How about Monica Belluci for #4?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I thought Monica as well but wouldn't Enty have mentioned she was married to a C list actor? or would that have made it too easy?

    ReplyDelete
  17. 1/2. Eddie Murphy was the first person I thought of. I would say Mike Myers is the other guy.

    3. Karl

    4. I think Monica Bellucci is a great guess. She and Vincent Cassel lead quite separate lives, so it would make sense.

    ReplyDelete
  18. probably didn't think of it. her husband, Vincent Classel (I think), had made very few American movies, but a ton of French movies.

She has made many amazing Italian movies, as well as French. and had talked openly a few months ago about fidelity within her marriage, or lack thereof. Quite open in their relationship, so why not have a boyfriend, as well as a husband. Knowing fully that the husband swings both ways. One happy family.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I wondered about Monica Belluci too. I threw her out cuz I woudln't consider her to have "starred" in The Matrix Reloaded. But its in the top 50 and she has tons of movies in her native language.

    ReplyDelete
  20. #1 Definitely Mike Meyers. I like the Eddie Murphy guess too.

    #2 A-hole Karl

#3 Audrey Tautou and the movie being DaVinci Code.

    ReplyDelete
  21. #3: "Why should I care about them?" That attitude is exactly why the world is so fucked up.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I knew KL was a prima donna, but now I can no longer wear his clothes.

  24. Audrey is dating rapper/singer Mathiew Chedid... Don't think they are married.

  26. #3 isn't the only one with this attitude. Slate has a great article about the terrible economic conditions for fashion models at http://www.slate.com/id/2303242/ .

    ReplyDelete
  27. #4 - Penelope. Pirates of the Caribbean (Dead Man's Chest) was the sixth highest grossing movie of all time. She was just in Bosnia for a premiere.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Penelope a B-/C+? Because of her Oscar, she definitely must be a firm B. At the least. No?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ehhh, I'd say Penelope is WAY more famous in the states than Marion (who's out, because she's not married), Audrey, or Monica. I know P. was/is Almodovar's muse, but at this point, she's got enough English-speaking credits on her resume. I think she's much higher than a C, is my point.

I can see it being Monica. The Matrix was HUGE, but she hasn't really done too much else here in the States. And if she and Vincent already *have* an open relationship, then this admission isn't too crazy.

I'm more interested in who her boyfriend might be!

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Imshopperny

Penelope was not in Dead Man's Chest. The one and only POTC film she's been in is the most recent, On Stranger Tides, which is #8 All Time Worldwide.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Bellucci has been in the Whistleblower, Shoot 'Em Up, Passion of the Christ (one of the highest grossing movies), besides the Matrix Revolutions and Reloaded, and got her start in Hollywood because of Mr. Bruce Willis himself, for Tears of the Sun. Not bad for a foreign actress. Her Italian and French movie list is quite impressive.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I definitely thinks

    (1) Eddie Murphy (for former A-list) and Will Smith (for still A-list).

    (2) Kunty Karl

    (3) after reading everyone's answer, I have to say Monica Belluci (who is AMAZING) and Vincent Cassel.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 1&2 Mike Myers...and I thought of Adam Sandler for some reason...*L* I don't even know why.

    3 Kunty Karl for sure!

4 Don't know. I wanted to say Noomi Rapace just to be different and special, but she doesn't fit AT ALL...*L*

    ReplyDelete
  34. If Audrey isn't married, then I Guess Monica Belucci sounds like a good guess, though Monica didn't star in the Matrix series or Passion of the Christ.\

Penelope...definitely not. She's an A/B+ actress in this country.

    ReplyDelete
  35. @crila -- "Monica Belucci sounds like a good guess, though Monica didn't star in the Matrix series or Passion of the Christ."

Ummm...but she *did* star in those movies. I'm confused. She might not have come before Keanu in the credits, but she definitely played a major role in each film. No offense, but I don't get your point.

    ReplyDelete
  36. How about Sophie Marceau? She was in Braveheart, but I'm not sure it would be considered a highest grossing movie. I just know it's a popular movie.

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Ida. She did not star in those movies. She was supporting. That's my point.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Nutty_Flavor, that is an interesting article. I'd like to read her book.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I am on the Belluci train.

    ReplyDelete
  40. #Kate Winslet. Titanic is still one of the highest grossing movies of all time. But isn't she divorcing her husband?

    ReplyDelete
  41. CD702 - Do you need subtitles to watch Kate Winslet movies though?

    ReplyDelete
  42. #1. I distinctly remember stories of Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy HATING each other behind-the-scenes of Shrek, so I vote for them. And their love interest was Antonio Banderas.

I also am on the Bellucci train, and I think it sounds HOT! I'm jealous.

    ReplyDelete
  43. ^Everything libby said.

    ReplyDelete
  44. 1: The name that popped into my head was Jim Carrey. As for the other actor, no clue.

3: Yup, this has got to be Kunty Karl. He says the most outlandish things about people.

4: I think this IS Tilda Swinton. Not sure if Narnia was the highest grossing movie, but it must have done well enough to warrant sequels. But, just to throw it out there....what about Kate Winslet? I know some people here think she is A, but I would put her at B+ and possibly C+ depending on the criteria. Just a thought anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  45. 1/2: Mike Myers?
3:Karl Lagerfeld because his models are similar in his fashion show
    4:Marion Cotillard isn't married/Audrey Tautou isn't married/Sophie Marceau isn't married/Monica Belucci is married with Vincent Cassel(a straight guy)

    ReplyDelete
  46. @Basil and CD702: Do you REALLY need subtitles when you watch British movies? Sure, Liverpool accents can be tricky, as can Cockney rhyming slang, but most folks can work it out without having to read it. (Are movies in English even subtitled?)

    ReplyDelete
  47. @ Binky. I reread my post and I have no idea what you are talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Basil, she's refering to this line of the blind:

"Mostly though her work has been done in her native country so most of us would need subtitles."

You guessed Tilda Swinton and Kate Winslet, and they are both English speakers, even though they're from another country.

  49. i call bullshit on #2 completely. there cannot be russian mobsters out at paris fashion week because it has not started yet. new york fashion week only started yesterday and paris is the last major city to show. the order goes new york, london, milan, THEN paris. models are not even in paris for castings let alone walking shows because there are all here in new york. 100% bullshit. this is made up.

    ReplyDelete
  50. @callywally:i asked myself the question but there are 4 Fashion Weeks in Paris in january/march/july/end of september so i guess the french Fashion week of last July

    ReplyDelete
  51. @pomme but it says "Apparently Russian mobsters are out in force this week and were also at Paris Fashion Week."...if it were an old blind i doubt the phrase "this week" would have been included.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Number 1/2-Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy...

    ReplyDelete
  53. Maybe he means that they are out in force this week "in NY" & were also at the last Paris fashion week

    ReplyDelete
  54. Just curious about #4 - if the actress said this in response to a question at a premiere, why is it blind? I mean, she seems open about it and has admitted it to an interviewer (probably), so..? Or is it just to have fun guessing and Enty will reveal it in due course anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  55. FWIW - Im sold on Monica.

BTW - Passion of the Christ is NOT a highest grossing movie of all time. If its her its due to the Matrix.

Passion is #15 in the US. But worldwide its nowhere in the top 50.

The list for reference can be found here:

The same as the other 3 blinds then ;D

  57. Another tidbit that also rules out Marion is the only premiere she's been to since the Inception/LPM junket was Contagion and Guillaume was already back in France prepping for Jappeloup.

FWIW I'm on the Monica B train.
