Giuliana Rancic Has Breast Cancer
This morning on The Today Show, Giuliana Rancic, announced that she has breast cancer. Apparently her doctor suggested she get a mammogram as part of the process of IVF and when Giuliana did that, doctors discovered she has cancer. She is set to have surgery followed by six weeks of radiation. Giuliana is 36 years old. I really thought she was going to be on the show today to talk about having a baby or some new reality show. Considering this month is all about breast cancer awareness, hopefully the announcement will lead to more people getting mammograms.

I wish her the best of luck. My mom died of breast cancer in 1983. Leave 3 little girls to be raised by an amazing father! Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteThis is horrible. I hope she's ok. My best friend just found out this past week that she has stage 3breast cancer and a woman my mom works with just found out she has stage 4 breast cancer.
ReplyDeleteHeartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteWoah, so good for her that they caught it. Good luck Giuliana.
ReplyDeleteHugs to Diane and crila16. I am sorry to hear of anyone who has to fight cancer.
ReplyDeleteI know there are people who complain that breast cancer gets more attention then the other types of cancer, but it does seem that more people are somehow touched by breast cancer than other types. I personally know at least 10 people who have been successfully treated for BC, and my good friend is just starting chemo this week.
ReplyDeleteI wish everyone a happy outcome.
I wish all the best... BUT I wonder if E! is pissed at her for not breaking the news on her the channel she works for?
ReplyDeleteI watched the interview, and you could really sense her sadness and fear. I really like her on Fashion Police, and it's always made me kind of sad how she starves herself.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it was a lucky break after all: not catching BC in early stages, or worse, Cancer treatments while pregnant? Wish her the best and courage.
ReplyDeleteAlso hugs to Diane and Crila16.
So glad she was able to catch it early and I think she was incredibly generous to share the news the way she did. Now younger women can benefit from her experience. Hoping nothing but the best for her and Bill.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the hugs. My BF is in the hospital now having a full body scan to make sure it hasn't spread to other parts. She is hopeful and staying positive. I'm just happy that the technology is so advanced that even people with Stage 4 cancer can be cured. My friends cousin had stage 4 and has been in remission for 6 years now.
ReplyDeleteHugs to Diane. I'm so sorry about your mom.
@MonstersInc - That was my thought when my friend sent me this story this morning. :(
ReplyDeleteThank you for the hugs. My dad remarried once I turned 19 & moved out. He is a super father!
ReplyDeletePoor Giuliana, glad they caught it early though.
ReplyDeleteBless her heart. Good luck to her.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to her. I like her and hope that she recovers fully from this and starts taking care of her health after the recovery by addressing her eating disorder. I hope a few years from now she'll be healthy physically and emotionally.
ReplyDeleteRita has a point. As difficult as it must be to have to go through IVF and have trouble conceiving, she probably wouldn't have had the mammogram so young without it. It's not exactly a silver lining, but I swear things happen for a reason. I hope they caught it quickly and she has a speedy recovery. Very sad.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that you can undergo cancer treatment whilst being pregnant. The NY Times ran an article in the magazine a few years back and it was very enlightenng. The women and babies survived so there is hope for her yet..Hope she finds that to be the case. Although, not to sound insenstive but her life being an open book has been a little much. She should (may have) consider adoption. There are kids out there that someone doesn't want and she and her husband have been so absolutely desperate then there is one there who needs them badly. They would love that child to peices.
