Is Bring It On Actress Nicole Bilderback The Actress Suing Amazon For Revealing Her Age?
Note to all actors and actresses. Once you put an age down on IMDb you will never be able to change it. They just do not do that. So, make sure you start with a very big cushion. One actress, who lives in Texas is suing Amazon as a Jane Doe about this. Kind of. In her lawsuit she says she created an IMDb page back in 2003 when she was still relatively new to acting. She also changed her name from something Asian to something American sounding. In 2008, she decided to spring for the few bucks a month and upgraded to IMDbPro because she thought it would improve her chances of getting work. When she did, she gave her credit card information. Shortly thereafter, her age showed up on IMDb. She attempted to get them to take it down to no avail. She is now suing for $1M because she says she can no longer get work as a young character anymore because it lists her real age and cannot get work as an older character because she looks too young. Umm, isn't that what acting is about? Make yourself look older.
But what if Tila Tequila was born in 1971 instead of 1981. That would make her about 40 now. Lives in Houston.
ReplyDeleteWow, 6:00 am, the early Enty gets the bacon...
ReplyDeleteDamn you Asians & Black folk with your youngness! Us Caucasians look so old quickly compared to you.
ReplyDeleteI hope she doesn't add Enty to the lawsuit for outing her here.
ReplyDeleteI don't think she could get much out of ENTY by suing him. Just a few slices of bacon.
ReplyDeleteI'd be more likely to believe Tila Tequila than Nicole Bilderback, seein' as how NB was in Bring it On in 2000--so most likely had a page then, not in 2003.
ReplyDeleteWell, whatever the situation may be, I don't think IMDB are legally allowed to 'lift' information from your credit card and post it on the internet.
ReplyDeleteShe gave her credit card information for PAYMENT, not for IMDB to modify her profile accordingly to her credit card info. It is the actors' responsibility to do so, unless that account gets inactive.
BTW, wow, this is early. If you start posting this early every day, you'll make miss gym!
My gran never told any of us her real age, she always said 21+, of course it was easier in the days before the internet.
ReplyDeleteher first credit was 16 years ago. Tough to argue you're still a teenager!
ReplyDeleteTila Tequila is not an actress! She is a reality personality. Now Catherine Zeta-Jones and Beyoncé will be outed.
ReplyDeletedoes Rachel mcAdams lie about her age also?
ReplyDelete*gasps*
ReplyDeleteHow *dare* IMDB publish the truth?
Actually, the whole thing seems rather suspect. How did IMDB get her DOB from her credit card number? In this age of identity theft, one would think that information would be privelidged. One would think.
BTW, Enty posting on weekends and now in the morning east coast time? I love it!
I think she's right. Even if she "makes herself look older", petite women in their late 30s - 40s don't get a lot of roles, plus she's missing out on a prime phase of acting work. IMDb is much too rigid, people should be able to modify their own pages.
ReplyDeleteWhat am I missing? Where does Amazon fit into this?
ReplyDeleteThe article I read quoted the actress as saying, "lesser known 40-year-old actresses are not in demand". I doubt Tila Tequila would say she is lesser known. Btw, amazon settled a similar lawsuit in 2007, so I would guess she has a case.
ReplyDeleteOn the snarky side, this could become Lindsay Lohans next moneymaking deal!
Amazon owns IMDB. I interviewed at IMDb a few years ago, and wasn't impressed with their professionalism. It felt like they are culturally separate from amazon, with which I have had great interviewing experiences
ReplyDeleteThe only glitch I see here is that Nicole Bilderback is her real name - according to the IMDB link provided, she was adopted and her parents name is Bilderback.
ReplyDelete"Is multi-mixed Asian ethnicities. Which explains her versatile Asian look. She was born in Korea, but her biological parents were of different Asian backgrounds, not just Korean. She was adopted as a baby by her Mom and Dad, Americans Jim and Lois Bilderback."
"Umm, isn't that what acting is about? Make yourself look older. "
ReplyDeleteThat's kinda easy to say, but the industry isn't known for being enlightened when it comes to women roles.
If IMDb lifted her age from her credit card info, then she may have a cause of action and perhaps even a statutory basis for a case and punitive damages of some sort. But how can she prove actual damages? She isn't a star by any means, and the Industry is fickle. Whom could she get to testify as to the income she has lost because people know her true age? Someone who doesn't want to work in that town again?
ReplyDeleteI just can't see how this case has any legs.
as far as I know, your age does not show up in the approval information when you charge something to your credit card so I don't see where/how the IMDB DOB came from her paying for IMDB pro.
ReplyDeleteIt's quite possible that someone else with an account entered some bio-sketch info that included her DOB or that she entered it at some point and she just didn't see the info until she got a pro account (the pro account provides you access to much more info than a free account does).
Could it be Lindsay Price? What has she done lately?
ReplyDeleteAnd... who cares???
ReplyDeleteAnd... who cares???
ReplyDeleteI didn't know getting a pro account would get you more work...??
ReplyDeleteAlso, that's Summer from Clueless!!! She's the one that starts Suck n' Blow.
NICOLE BILDERBACK IS NOT THE TEXAS ASIAN SUING AMAZON OR IMDB. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT...SHE IS 36, NOT 40. SHE ALSO DOES NOT LIVE IN TEXAS. SHE GREW UP THERE, BUT HAS NOT LIVED IN TEXAS FOR OVER 18 YEARS. FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO BASH, INSTEAD OF A HAPPY WORKING ACTRESS.
