Thomas Jane Brings You Light Sunday Reading

I always wondered what fascinating tidbit made Patricia Arquette fall in love with Thomas Jane. I mean this is the same woman who found Nicolas Cage fascinating enough for years to stay with him through his temper and being follicly challenged. Well, in the Sunday edition of the Los Angeles Times, Thomas describes how, as a homeless teen in Los Angeles, he was basically a homeless gay hooker. "As James Dean said, you're going to have one arm tied behind your back if you don't accept people's sexual favors. When I was a kid out here in L.A., I was homeless. I didn't have any money and I was living in my car. I wasn't averse to going down to Santa Monica Boulevard and letting a guy buy me a sandwich. Know what I mean?"

He said that he does not really think the same sex relationships were necessarily about money, but also exploring his sexual identity. I also think he would do it again or has done it again or continues to do it repeatedly. "Until you've tasted the food, you don't know whether you'll like it or not, as my mom always said."

My mom used to say that too. It brings a whole other level to what she was saying though.

  1. I love the fact that he admits to what soooo many in Hollywood won't, if you want to make it in the business you are going to have to sacrifice your morals eventually.

  2. It takes a brave person to admit that kind of thing (not gay action, but being a prostitute)

  3. That is awfully, ugly picture of him. I always think of him as the guy on Arrested Development that Lindsay thinks is homeless. She tries to helps him but he is really an actor.

  4. How much you want to bet he is going to say these statements were taken out of context?

  5. COURAGEOUS!

But does his daughter need to know this?

  7. I think this was his way of making up with the gay community since he made those statements about Hung that if he has sex with a man on the show it will be its last episode.

I always got the feeling he liked to be kooky for kooky's sake or was trying to impress Patricia since the Arquette's are a kooky kind of family.

  8. This guy is just so eccentric and out there. I don't think he really cares what people think about him. He doesn't even like to wear shoes! (not just from the pic, he was on a radio show I listened to and said he hates shoes. he will walk around nyc completely barefoot).

BUT, he contradicted himself so many times in this article if he was quoted correctly. At one point he says how the sexual exploration was eye opening. And afterwards he had a choice and he chose to be heterosexual because that's what his DNA dictates and his nurture dictates. I don't get that. If your DNA dictates it, then its not a choice. And to start doing the "gay is a choice" thing is going to offend alot of gay people.

  9. I thought the deal with Patricia Arquette/ Nic Cage was that the marriage only lasted a few months but they pretended to be together all those years and held off on the divorce.

Anyhoo, the way these things go, he will take all this back in the next interview. It's hard to tell if he was being honest or just edgy.

  10. I agree with MM - I don't think he's the first or last starving actor to do what you gotta do to eat while you try to make it big. I think a lot of us have experimented sexually with people that are the same sex - I remember making out with a girl back in Uni after a bit o' booze (privately - none of that Girls Gone Wild crap for me!) then thinking, "Yep. Definitely not gay, RocketQueen."

  11. Gay for pay happens all the time. He was brave to admit it. And, Corey Feldman needs to talk. That is all.

  12. The rumors have been around for ages, including blinds here on CDAN, that he sold his ass on Santa Monica Blvd. And this was as a gay hooker, not for service to women. Mangina, not vajajay

  13. Wonder if he was being blackmailed, so decided to confess it.

  14. I didn't really need to know this but I applaud him for his honesty.

And for the record, he was really good in that movie with Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate that I can NEVER remember the title of. You know, the movie that Christina stole from Cameron. Oh, and Jason Bateman (my secret boyfriend) was in it, too.

  20. I read the interview, I think he'll stick by it. He might quit discussing it but I don't think he'll deny it.

I think he said he came down on the hetro side now, just said that was where his DNA landed him.

  21. I personally LOVE it that male celebs seem to be coming out more and more with at least a few tidbits about male on male interactions.

I dont remember who but some other macho type guy either from UK or here said similiar stuff last year.

I like how comfortable people are becoming in sharing something that even 20 yrs ago would have ostracized someone or made them less than 'a man' in people's eyes.

The fact that hot Thomas Jane freely said this to the LA Times no less, is a pretty important thing.
