Casting Agent For Super 8 And Other Kid Movies Is A Registered Sex Offender

I guess the good news about Jerry Sandusky being exposed for his horrific crimes is that it heightens the attention everywhere on such things. Think about how many stories you have seen over the past week about people coming forward that had never done so before or accusations that had been hidden are now public and just more research and digging. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that contrary to California law, Jason James Murphy who uses the professional name Jason James has been working alone with children and casting them in movies like Super 8 and Bad News Bears.

Back in 1996, Murphy spent five years in prison for kidnapping and molesting an 8 year old boy in Seattle. He was featured on America's Most Wanted when he took the boy and fled to New York City. When he got out of jail he moved to California and was required to register as a sex offender but he registered under his real name and uses a different one for work.

Police are currently investigating if he broke sex offender registration laws. They might want to talk to all the kids he has worked with over the years too.

  1. Wow, I hope it's not true.

But then again, often ex-child stars had clearly stated that Hollywood is a cesspool for prolific pedophiles.

If this is true, then hopefully that business of Hollywood pedo is coming to an end. Those poor children... I don't know about the parents, some do go to great extents to ensure their child's celebrity... Makes me gag.

BTW, isn't it awful that he looks like Chris Martin from Coldplay?

  2. I totally thought he looked like Chris Martin, too!

  3. Its so gross and scary when someone you know turns out to be a child molester. I don't know him, but the more people get exposed is a reminder of the ones you already know.

  4. Also, it bothers me that he is so good looking.

I wish abusers wore their ugliness more readily on their face, at least in their eyes, like Jerry Sandusky.

  5. Maybe Corey Feldman IS talking.

  6. Gotta love Hollyweird, the land where all the ex-cons, prostitutes and pedophiles go to seek fame and fortune.

BTW That has got to be the most happiest mug shot ever, WTF did he think he was posing for GQ?!?!

  7. It's about time the media started focusing on Hollywood pedophilia. But I doubt it will ever happen. Michael Jackson is still idolized in the media.

  8. Um, so it's not against the law for a sex offender to use a pseudonym for work?? It should be!! They also shouldn't be allowed to change their names legally.

  9. How do people just get work using a different name? Don't they have to provide a SSN and government ID for their I-9 form like the rest of us, or does Hollywood just ignore that Federally required step in the process? I'm beginning to think that fingerprinting needs to become the law of the land.

  10. When I saw this picture I thought IT WAS Chris Martin!

  11. Gayface to the max!

  12. Is he wearing lip gloss?

  13. @Missy - I truly hope you understand that being gay has nothing to do with pedophilia?

What do you mean the picture of this particular pedophile's face looks gay?

  14. OK, now my crime reporter persona comes out:

SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATION LAWS DO NOT WORK.

    They do not protect anyone.

If you pee in public, in many places, you are prosecuted as a sex offender and ordered on the list. Likewise, many states do NOT have Romeo/Juliet laws and if you are a teen who has sex with a teen, you are a sex offender.

Many states, like my own, do not even have a mechanism in place to get OFF the sex-offender registry. Like my nearly 40-year-old friend who was 17 when he had sex with his 15-year-old girlfriend and is branded a sex offender for life even though he is NOT a pedophile, was NEVER a pedophile and really, cannot recommit the crime he was convicted for. However, he's unable to get a decent job or housing because he is branded a "sex offender."

Many on the sex offender lists are NOT pedophiles but have been convicted of crimes ranging from exposing themselves to rape.

Most sex offenders know their victims, so notifying the public about their offense does nothing to prevent these sex offenses. Stranger-on-stranger sex offenses, whether it's rape or child molestation, is the minority of the crimes committed.

MOST SEX OFFENDERS DO NOT - REPEAT, DO NOT RECOMMIT. If they are convicted of another crime, it's most often not reporting to the sex offender registration because they cannot find work or a decent place to live because of it.

(Feel free to check stats on this because what I'm saying is based on accepted stats.)

PREDATORY PEDOPHILES are NOT daunted by sex offender registry. Unless they get treatment, they will reoffend regardless of a registration.

Sex offender registration is just something that politicians use to LOOK like they're doing something about a problem, when in fact, jurisdictions are spending lots of money to keep up those registrations that hurt people who are not likely anyway to reoffend and do nothing to prevent those bent on reoffending to do so.

  15. CASTRATION.

    That is all.

  16. But only if he did something horrific, and not something minor such as --as nunaurbiz says wisely--peeing in public, for which I hear you CAN become a life-long sex offender if some old lady sees you whizzing in your OWN YARD, for example, and calls the cops on you.

Molest kids = castration. AND THEN locked up for life.

Let the pot dealers out and make room for the real bad guys for chrissakes!

  17. I heard a story about an old woman who called the police on her neighbor for "parading around his apartment nude with the shades wide open!" The police arrived, asked to see the offender's window from her vantage point when she said, "Stand up on this chair, take these binoculars and look at that building right over there!" I don't think any action was taken...

  18. @Robert - LMAO!!!

Thought of saying "that was me looking into Joe Manganiello's apartment", but then thought, wow, even I feel too "stalkerish" saying that...

Or Maja with a J would be jealous of my window spot.

  19. @nurabitz - I agree!! Had some similar thoughts on a rant I went on here a few weeks ago. They need to have more clearly defined laws for sex offenders.

What about the dude that worked on J&K+8?

  20. @nunaurbiz - thank you for the details regarding sex offender laws! I did not know half of those details. Chilling

We must start putting pressure on clarifying those laws, and their application. Peeing in public, is peeing in public. It has nothing to do with raping a child!

The one thing I love about Texas, is how brutal they are with child rapists. Which is why most would rather get caught anywhere else but Texas.

The judicial system has become a joke about loopholes and debate. Where are the concrete actions that make a difference?

In Japan and Israel, those are not 3rd world countries at all, the rate of repeat offenders is so low, because of the severity of the punishment. And no, people do not get arrested casually for smoking weed, or wearing a mini skirt (Israel is one of the first countries where women were allowed/even expected to serve in the army, same as men), but when you are caught for murder, rape, child molestation, or any violent crime, you serve HARD TIME. You are not warmly inside watching HD Satellite TV, with internet access.

The problem is, are we doing really what we can to rehabilitate? Seems to me that pedophiles are working more and more in the open, without fear of punishment. It's like perceiving their lust for kids as a human right issue!
