Nikki Reed Says Twilight Cast Are Not All Best Friends
Nikki Reed has some pretty harsh words for her Twilight co-stars in the new issue of Seventeen. She says that when they first started making the series everyone was all friendly and fun and it was like being away at camp. I think a lot of that was the fact most of the actors involved had been in very few projects and were not spoiled or divas yet. Nikki says that after the first movie came out then everyone changed. "Success came along and changed the dynamic. We're not all best friends, and we're not all going to hang out together after the final movie is done. It was very, very sad. Let's just leave it at that."
What happens is that egos get in the way and the stars of the movie start thinking they are better than the rest of the cast and the bad actors are jealous of the people that can act and then people get jealous of paychecks and who has the biggest trailer and people forget what it was like in the beginning. Since most of the cast can't act anyway it won't be long before many are right back where they were before the series.
I imagine this is the way it is on a lot of movies with sequels/trilogies. I think Harry Potter isn't the norm, where the cast seems super close.
ReplyDeletewho thought they were?
ReplyDeleteShe bugs me, and I thought she was such a horrible choice to play Rosalie. That character is supposed to be a fair, exquisite blonde. They certainly could have found SOMEONE. Nikki looks terrible as a blonde, and her skin is too dark.
I've never seen any of these, so I'm wondering: which of them can act? Just curious.
ReplyDeleteRumor has it she was hooking up with Pattinson during Twilight filming, then he and Stewart became a couple. KStew dumped whatshisface Oregano during the same time frame. Probably lots of drama.
ReplyDelete@parissucks - you said it.
ReplyDeleteseems to me that NIKKI is the one that people kind of ousted (not counting the new supposed issues w/ Kristen/Ashley, i'm taking back in the day after the first movie) and this is her way of publicly acting like she didn't care. the others are seen with each other here/there. she's the one always off doing her own thing.
@ Rose. I think you're right about the Harry Potter cast. It also helps when the _supporting_ cast is basically a whos-who of UK's best talent on the set - Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, John Hurt, etc., etc. - that basically keeps them in check, showing the kids how it's done.
ReplyDeleteEnty's last paragraph here is spot on.
Sure sounds like sour graping to me. If she's happy with her life and her new marriage as Nikki claims she is, why is she dwelling on lost friendships and relationships? Move on Nikki. Because they have moved on from you. Lol!
ReplyDeleteWhy should they be friends? I'm not friends with everyone I work with. You choose your friends, you don't choose your co-workers.
ReplyDeleteI'm just happy this crapfest is ending. I don't give a flying fig about any of these twits and their "fans" are worse.
ReplyDeleteWonder what's going to happen when Night Circus becomes a movie (series) and Hunger Games?
This movie series thing is the wave of the future. Get bad nobody actors and tie them in with best-selling books.
Yeah she was so not the right choice for that role
ReplyDeleteThe other difference between Harry Potter and Twilight is that Twilight has a bunch of 20-something actors who are single and horny. The sexual politics and drama must be off the charts, as they bedhop and generate rumors.
ReplyDeleteNikki Reed wrote the screenplay to Thirteen, which she starred in years ago with Holly Hunter. Sorry, Nikki isn't sour grapes. She's far beyond the talent of virtually everyone on the cast, has been for years, and sounds perfectly aghast at how dramatically this dipshits changed after the first moive.
ReplyDeleteNope--2 words for Nikki. Bitter Bitch!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but I think most of you are wrong. Kristen Stewart annoys me. Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz try waaaaay to hard.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's sour grapes, I think it's honesty. And because honesty is so unusual, I like it!
krisitin stewart is a terrible actress...
ReplyDelete@Amy- Not only did Nikki write the screenplay, she was captivating to watch in Thirteen, as well...
Nikki is the most down to earth in my opinion of the cast. She says she loves to stay at home and watch American Idol.
ReplyDeleteI get the feeling she isn't too impressed with all the trappings of Hollywood.
Why do people feel it's ok to say certain people are not attractive enough to play certain roles?
I didn't mean that she is not attractive enough. I think she is beautiful. I just think that she didn't fit with the role description at all.
ReplyDeleteNo, what happened is Rob dumped her and took up with Kristen. The saying, 'Keep your enemies closer" is exactly the reason she became so obsessed with Kristen during the first film. She thought by becoming besties with Kristen she could keep R & K apart.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm reading Ted's colum, LOL.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it was awkward if her and Kristen were besties and then Robert swapped girls. That'll do it every time.
IA she was badly cast. Just does not fit the part looks or acting wise at all.
@worst -- it's not that these actresses and actors are not attractive. They don't fit the roles as written in the books. (in talking both this and hunger games). In twilight, the characters are supposed to be unworldly levels of beautiful, with very pale skin and dramatic features. The actors they cast as cullens are very traditional good looking, and are not pale and dramatic looking. The only two twilight main characters that look as I inagined them to from the books are Jacob and Bella. Bella has that "beautiful but on the edge of plain" look that makes her an everywoman that girls can identify with. Jacob looks native American.
ReplyDeleteIn Hunger Games, the two main characters call for actors who look like they have lived in extreme hunger. The bakers son should look a bit rough around the edges and I have always envisioned him a tiny bit pudgy. Instead, they cast actors that have teen idol looks. Probably Wise given the movie's main target audience, but not true to the books.
It's not a question of level of attraction, but rather type of good looks.
Well, at least she landed that toothy AI guy!
ReplyDeleteWell, NAWWWW. You don't say, Nikki?!
ReplyDeleteIt's called a job, where no one likes everyone but we just deal with them.
And I am sure success has made some hella egos in that pack/coven!
I like Nikki best of the cast, and I think she probably has a better head on her shoulders than any of the rest of them.
ReplyDeleteI always forget Nikki wrote 13!
ReplyDeleteI don't think she is saying anything that harsh. Success does change people and as many movies as they've all worked on together there were bound to be fights, hurt feelings, etc.
I'll be VERY interested to see what these kids do after this is all over.
Nikki Reed is the devil on the AT boards and amongst the "Robsten" obsessed. There has been major PR work on bad mouthing her these last few years which is apparent if you read her press. Mind you, she does herself no favours, but it kind of makes me like her more to be honest.
ReplyDeleteNikki LIVED "Thirteen", which is why she was able to write it.
ReplyDeleteI think she was pretty classy and honest about the situation. She could have said a hell of a lot more but didn't, and probably the only reason she said anything was because she was asked by the interviewer.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be far worse if she'd falsely gone on about how great everyone was and that they would be BFFs forever.
