Today's Blind Items
This one was a shocker to even my jaded self. Two co-stars. Network show. Both married. Both B+ listers with very long careers. Lots of bad luck with shows in the past although each has struck gold at one point. I cannot even fathom the two of them together, but they are. Like all over each other on a daily basis. When the crew started noticing what was going on, I think they were all just as crushed as I am. To great families being torn apart by a couple of people who wanted some sex with each other.
In Myrna Loy's autobiography, she commented that when people work together in such physically intimate and emotionally intertwined ways, it's almost impossible for them not to become sexually involved. They have to build an intense rapport and a sexual chemistry for the camera, and few people can turn it off when the scene is finished. I almost have sympathy for the poor buggers who work in that biz. The consequences to their children and significant others isn't good.
ReplyDeleteNot WIll Arnett and Christina Applegate? Please no!!!
ReplyDeleteI had the same thought, MontanaMarriott. Please, someone else come up with some other options!
ReplyDeleteCrap Montana! I think you got it!
ReplyDeleteOMG MontanaMarriott! NOOOOO
ReplyDeleteAiden Quinn and Maria Bello?
ReplyDeletePrime Suspect
I can fathom Aiden Quinn and Maria Bello together. I cannot; however, fathom Christina Applegate and Will Arnett together...
ReplyDeleteJeremy Sisto and Cheryl Hines?
ReplyDeleteWould you call Will's a "very long career" though? He mostly just popped up in small things until Arrested Development, which really wasn't that long ago. I just please don't want it to be them.
ReplyDeleteHm, according to imdb, Christina is divorced. I don't think it's them.
ReplyDeleteAccording to IMBD, Will has been "on the scene" since 1996. I would consider it long. I don't know if "Arrested Development" would be considered striking gold considering it was only on three (shortened) seasons, but it was so amazingly wonderful that it might in that sense. I just do not want this blind to be them. Christina's on her second marriage, but I love Will & Amy and just can't go there.
ReplyDeleteWill doesn't fit the blind (except for having a great family, and I for one would be crushed if something happened to him and Amy).
ReplyDeleteChristina is married to Martyn LeNoble; they just had a kid together in February.
ReplyDeleteI think if it was Will A/Christina A it would be impossible to keep from Amy P being that both shows are NBC. I can't see Christina playing with fire like that, bad karma. That said, I have no guess to offer.
ReplyDeleteI hope it's not Arnett and Applegate. Just watched an epi last night. Up All Night is really funny, especially if you have a baby in the house.
ReplyDeleteThe description definitely sounds like these two.
Just because I hope it isn't Christina and Will...
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson from Parenthood. Both long careers...both married for 10+ years.
NOOOO!!!!! I hope it's not Arnett & Applegate, but it sounds like it.
ReplyDeletetealily - IMDb hasn't been updated. Christina is on her second marriage, as per Wikipedia.
And judging by how shocked and crushed Enty is, I definitely think this is Arnett & Applegate. I'm pretty crushed too. I'm going key the next Segway I see.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was also Arnett and Applegate, but I re-read the blind and I'm beginning to think the Bedelia/Nelson guess might be closer to the truth (phew, didn't want it to be Arnett/Applegate either).
ReplyDelete(PS, just because two shows are on the same network doesn't mean they are shot anywhere near each other. Shows are filmed at the studio that produces it, not the network that airs it, but you're right, office gossip could get around.).
Christina Applegate isn't married. She's engaged.
ReplyDelete@BartonFink - I love Myrna Loy! I'd be interested in knowing more about her.
ReplyDeleteI have nothing and refuse to think of Will Arnett and Christina Applegate together.
*IF* it is Will and Christina, and like the rest of you, I hope to god it's not, it would be extremely ballsy of Arnett given the fact that Maya who is the third co-star is really good friends with Amy.
ReplyDeleteNot to be contrary, but is Bonnie Bedelia really B+?
What about Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell?
ReplyDelete@Ms Cool - I read Myrna Loy's autobiography - it seems to cover up the really juicy stuff, but she's a fascinating person to read about.
ReplyDeleteI have got nothing. A friend of mine said her Grandma always said "Ass is going to ruin the world". People toss out all common sense pursuing it at times. Affairs destroy them and their families.
ReplyDeleteHow about Taye Diggs and Amy Brenneman?
ReplyDeleteI thought of Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell too--she hit gold with Ed but I can't think of what he did.
ReplyDeleteJust throwing some thoughts out: Could "gold" mean someone in the couple has an award? I'm also thinking that this refers to a newer show, since older shows' casts would already have plenty of time to go there. And, for my thought, Mariska Hargitay and Andre Braugher?
ReplyDeleteWhoops, to clarify...new show or new addition to cast in an old show. :)
ReplyDeleteso much good stuff in these comments
ReplyDeleteKarmen thanks for cracking me up
@ms cool I too love Myrna Loy! I can't believe I don't have her autobiography on my to-read-list thanks for that Barton!
it makes sense that I don't think Up All night is arrested development hilarious- Don't have any babies in the house. I really tried too. oh well I hope it isn't them.

ReplyDeleteWhat about Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell?
That was my first thought. For the love of god don't let it been Christina & Will...lol
I don't think it's Julie and Ty OR Will and Christina. I think Amy Poehler could/would kick Will's ass. And I don't think Ty necessarily fits the blind ('very long' career with bad luck shows?). Ed O'Neill might fit, but I don't think Julie and Ed would crush their families for each other (then again, Ent says he can't picture it).
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't say comedy, so what about a new-ish drama (thinking this has only been going on a short time)?
Oh, hey, guys, who says it has to be a man and a woman......?
ReplyDelete@ Barton Fink - You are officially my hero! Myrna Loy bio? Gah, I love, love, love her and her work with William Powell and Cary Grant (thanks to my dear, late father who was a huge film aficionado).
ReplyDeleteIf you tell me you have read Claudette Colbert's bio (and even is there one?) I will orgasm in my chair.
Thank you and have a nice day.
Just saw a commercial for Tim Allen's new show. What about him and Nancy Travis?
ReplyDeletePatrick Warburton and Megyn Price? (Show: Rules of Engagement)
ReplyDeleteNo, not Puddy!
Scott Foley and Kim Raver?
ReplyDeleteWhat about Juliana Marguilles and Chris Noth from
ReplyDeleteGood Wife?
^ isn't Christ Noth known for being a but of a dog?
ReplyDeleteAnd I second @Jen's seconding of @littlemisssmokeandmirrors... I don't really have a reason (I haven't looked at their histories) but i thought about Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell as well.
I would be devastated if its Arnett and Applegate! But I also agree with LittleMiss' other point about Maya being around the set a lot and that seems like she would pass that info along to Amy in a second.
First guess right off the bat! Will and Christina! Exactly what I thought. Even Enty doesn't like it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's a comedy show. Working in TV and film myself, comedy can be sexy, but doesn't cause you to question your own relationships the way steamy sex scenes do, like in a drama or dramedy. That kind of intimacy, the kind that Loy speaks of, is most often found when a couple is in a drama or intense emotional place, mostly saness or anger or frustration. It just doesn't happen in comedy. Plus all of those comedy couples totally seem like they could be together. I can picture Will and Christina together, not a strech.
ReplyDeleteI think we have to think of someone in a drama, a very intense drama. One where the leads have love and hate and lots of intense negative and positive emotions.
My money is on "Melissa and Joey."
ReplyDeleteMelissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence. Both are definite B+ list, and both have struck gold in the past.
Not to mention... Melissa Joan Harts husband (Mark Wilkerson - lead singer of Course of Nature) has the same build as Joey Lawrence. Joey Lawrence wife is not exactly a looker herself!
How sad...
How about the couple from American Horror Story?
ReplyDeleteDylan McDermott and Connie Britton, on American Horror Stories. It is so sex fueled how could they not...
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely not Will and Xtina, MAya Rudolf is Bff's with Amy Poehler, and Christina is glowing from her new relationship and new baby.
DmcD has a social climber/hollywood wannabe as a wife, and not too sure about Connie's relationship, but she definitely struck gold with Friday Night Lights, even if she is not a household name, people love her!
Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton are both divorced, and she has no kids, so their being together wouldn't be breaking up two families. I wouldn't rule out a same-sex couple---what about Christina Applegate and Maya Rudolph, for example? And that last part of the blind---"couple of people who wanted some sex with each other"---is that badly written on purpose as a clue?
