Hangover 3 Will Happen - Probably

The three main stars of the Hangover movies have banded together Friends style and are negotiating as one. You either pay all of them or you get none of them. Warner Brothers is going to pay because they want to suck every last drop out of these movies they can. Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis each stand to make about $15M for coming back for Hangover 3. Now whether or not another sequel is needed is one thing, but what I do admire is the willingness of the cast to not pretend they are above all this and not do one because it is some violation of their craft. Of course a $15M paycheck for a couple of months of work can get people to change their mind about their craft real fast. Also, what success have they really had in movies other than Hangover? It has been spotty. I have liked most of their movies, but people have not really been buying tickets.

The second one was HORRIBLE! I refuse to watch the third one.

Haven't seen the first or second. I'm 100% over these bro-movies. They are all the same, just repackaged and with different actors. The 40-year-old virgin (I tried to watch and turned it off/fell asleep after 45 min) Road Trip, blah blah blah... they're all the same.
They all involve dick jokes, sexual situations with someone inappropriate, craziness in public places, sarcasm...
Ugh just so over it.

I saw the first one, wasn't impressed. What I am curious about is why/how that guy from National Treasure isn't in on the goldmine. Was he even in Hangover 2? I realize his part in Hangover 1 was small, but I just find it odd that he's such a minor part when he was the groom.

They are gonna ruin it if they keep it going. Better to stop when they are ahead. OR let it be for several years the way Harold and Kumar did, and then bring it back randomly.

For $15m I would play all three parts. Problem solver!

I just saved the studio $30m before breakfast. :)

Really? I have zero repsect for them for being a part of the second shit show & wasting MY money & time. Hangover is the Andrew Dice clay of franchises: same formulated immature schtick over & over again.

@Princess you left off the inevitable fart jokes...

*yawn* over them too

Am I the only one that hated the first movie?
I thought it was stupid.

@HannahPalindrme: stupid and not funny in my opinion (my boyfriend also)

Gawd, I just hope they don't make a sitcom based on this dreck. Hey, you know it could happen.

I am really surprised at the lack of love for these movies. My husband and I LOVED them. The 2nd one was so beyond obscene that one scene even shocked me which I thought couldn't happen. I laughed till I cried.

I liked the first one well enough. Crude, but funny, and they didn't promote it as anything other than the lowbrow fare that it was, but it should have ended there. That being said, I don't blame these actors for cashing in while they can. You make hay while the sun shines. If you're dumb enough to go see it, you deserve to have your money wasted.

Laughed so hard during the Hangover, haven't seen the newer one tho.

I found them funny and I thought Bridesmaids was funny. But do I think Bridesmaids should be up for any kind of Oscar? No way, I find that ridiculous.

the first was PURE COMEDY GENIUS. the second was so painful I had to stop watching as it was spoiling the first for me.

lets just remember ladies and gents that it is called:

show BUSINESS. not SHOW business.

I despise most "comedies" (they aren't funny) but Hangover is the exception for me. But I think the concept of a franchise took away the magic for me, so I refuse to watch the second.

Hangover 2 was the exact same plot as Hangover 1 just in a different city. That ruined it for me. They knew no matter what, people would come watch the second movie just before the first one was so funny. And I hate it because it makes a fool out of movie watchers. If you want to make a sequel, damnit put some effort into it instead of just putting out a bad movie and making a quick buck.

I'll admit I liked the first one but the second one was so bad, I was cringing for the actors .

They should go to Europe. Amsterdam.
They should add 3 new characters to the cast: an entertainment lawyer, a sitcom actor, and a singer
;)

I did not think the first one was funny at all. Just stupid

I loved both. I thought the second one was a lot darker than the first. I'm not highbrow, I see Will Ferrell movies on opening day. I saw MacGruber on opening day, etc.

The cast works well together and has great chemistry. I thought they did a decent job of letting the event happen to them again. When Bradley Cooper sat down on the beach, he picked up the bag of marshmallows. When he found out Allan (Zack, right?) brought them, he threw them aside. It was subtle but funny. And I thought Mr. Chang (name??) stole the show. "I'm an international criminal, everything ends in a stand-off. It's how I met my wife." Killed me for days. "What principles, we're dead inside."

I think Ed Helms is doing an excellent job in The Office right now. I so don't miss Michael. Last week's episode was a party episode and it wasn't bogged down by Michael nonsense.

Bradley Cooper is hot as hell.

Leave it to Hollywood to destroy something that was good. Overkill...anything for a buck. Thank GOD they're not doing a Bridesmaids 2. Kristin Wig is smart.

First one was funny, and different at the time.

Second one was an exact re-run of the first, set in Thailand. And terrible.

@anita_mark -
You PAID to see MacGruber??????? ;)

Agree w/ the rest of you that enjoyed the 1st but thought the 2nd was baaad.

I loved the first one. I mean, LOVED.

Watched the second one for the first time last night, and it was a big fat MEH. There were parts that were funny, but putting almost the exact same physical comedy into a second movie at the same place in the plot is shitty and lazy.

I wish they wouldn't do a third, and the second wasn't a good use of time.

@rxt31, now that sounds like a blind. . .

I didn't care for the first one so I didn't bother with the second.

I wasn't crazy about Bridemaids either.

I think comedy writing has gone to hell for movies and TV.

@Leilani,

I think the only SNL movie I didn't see was Superstar because Molly Shannon has always irritated me.

I saw Night at the Roxbury, Ladies Man and MacGruber in the theatre. I'm sure there are more that I saw in the theatre but can't remember. I have most of them on DVD. I love Will Ferrell so much...

As for Hangover, I liked the second one. I didn't spend the entire movie comparing it, I just watched it for what it was, mindless fun.

RenoBlondee said...

I, like many of you saw the first one, but not the second. I have just heard so many bad things about it. I did like the first one though.
@Princess
The 40 year Old Virgin is one of the only few movies that I can watch over, and over and over and laugh my ass off everytime. It is hilarious, crude AND sweet. Try it again some day!

SaintsFan said...

I am still shocked hardly anyone liked the 2nd Hangover. Like anita_mark said, I didn't watch it comparing it to the 1st, just for entertainment. I laughed so hard. I guess this is not a raunchy, crude group here? LOL

Lelaina Pierce said...

@anita_mark - I hear ya. I love Will Forte, but I just never got McGruber (even though I liked MacGyver). :)

I'm interested to see what they do with 3, 2 wasn't that good for me but there were still a lot of funny moments.

The writers have said quite a few times that the third will have a different concept than the first two.
