Jane Carrey Got Special Treatment From American Idol
When Jane Carrey got to audition for the judges on American Idol, the only thing she had to do was wait for her turn before the judges. According to Radar, there was no waiting in line and no pre-audition or pre-pre-audition. Jane was given a time to be there by producers and just had to show up at that time and was shown right in. So, what would have been nice on her part if she really wanted to make it big without using the last name would have been to camp and stand in line and go through the entire process just like anyone else. I don't blame her, but I think it would have been nice to see if she could do it.
I'm sure all of you Idol fans can help me here but there was someone once who made it to the final 10 or 12 one year and she waited in line and did all the pre-auditioning and got her ticket to Hollywood and then Randy asked her some question and it came out Randy had worked with her grandmother I think for years and years but did not know the granddaughter or whatever relative it is that had auditioned and he basically applauded her for going the hard route and not asking for any favors. Does anyone remember that? Am I imagining or remembering wrong?
Paris Bennett? Her grandmother is Ann Nesby.
ReplyDeletei'm sure the spin is they kept her apart for security reasons. If people knew Jim Carrey's daughter was in line it could create a security issue with people trying to talk to her and things could get out of control (yeah right).
ReplyDeleteI don't think this girl has had to work very hard in life. Why would she wait in line if she doesn't have to?
I recall that vaguely. Wasn't it last season? I rarely watch Idol, but I did watch last year.
ReplyDeleteit's all about the ratings, why else would they have Jello when she can't even sing
ReplyDeleteIsn't it mostly young people who audition? Would they care or even know who Jim Carrey is? I can't see it being a security issue as no one would recognize her and as long as she didn't scream, "my dad is Jim Carrey!!" then wait for people to IMDB him, she'd be ok.
ReplyDeleteActually I'm thinking she doesn't necessarily live a priviledged life. When she auditioned, under employment, it said, "waitress". Why would she work as a waitress if Jim was letting her in on his 100's of millions? Or maybe she likes making her own living? Odd. lol
ReplyDeleteI don't watch Idol...but I saw a clip of her audition. She isn't that talented. You ask me, if she was a no-name she would have been shown the door. HOWEVER, because Idol is a sinking ship - they will milk this for all its worth!
ReplyDeletethe rich and wealthy ae different. i would have done the same.
ReplyDeleteoh and i'm sure jim is giving her money. she may not live high on the hog, but she's not living in some run down apartment or community.
ReplyDeleteher job just simply could be something to do. i enjoyed my job as a waitress during the summers when i was in my 20s. if you are the right person with a good attitude, it is very fun!
Makes me want to take back what I said about her yesterday. Yeah, she should have waited in line with everyone else.
ReplyDeleteThat's some sentence in the last paragraph, Enty. I ran out of breath just reading it.
Of course she went to the front of the line. So do many of the contestants. Idol gets thousands of auditioners. Anyone who can does whatever to bypass the early rounds, which are extremely random in who goes forward. I don't see why this is a big deal. Doesn't everyone already know that the auditions are sketchy and producers hand pick the ones who get to the celebrity judging stage?
ReplyDeleteColbie Caillat said she never made it past the first round to get to the judges. Her dad is Ken Caillat who is a grammy award winning producer of Fleetwood Mac.
ReplyDeleteSo it is pretty random. Which is why someone in Jim's camp made a call to producers to get her to the judges. Nepotism still works.
Special treatment? OMG I'm SHOCKED!
ReplyDeleteYawn.
you can't believe that she is an isolated case. 'reality' tv is all by design. she may be the first one you've heard of, but be aware that more than we possibly know is manipulated. it didn't start nor will it end with her...and i'm not going to hate on this girl. she just didn't give off an entitled vibe.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't really bother me either. She seemed very sweet and was cute with a nice voice.
ReplyDelete1. This is a made up controversy. Really, who cares?
ReplyDelete2. American Idol sucks sweaty donkey balls.
A few years ago I read a few of the articles and blog entries about the 'real' Idol auditioning process and how different it looks from what they show on TV. For instance, the big crowds in the stadiums are usually weeks before the callbacks of a much smaller group in front of the judges which take place in hotels. Also, there are usually people in every city who are given appointment times and don't have to wait in line. Also, the whole camping out and waiting in line thing is a farce. You can usually get there an hour before start time and still get a chance to sing at a table in front of a flunkie.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, yeah, she got a ticket straight to the judges, but the spoilers are already out and she doesn't advance too far after that. Big deal.
Gams you are right. It is Paris Bennett. Who I think now has a child.
ReplyDeleteI think you take any advantage in life you can. If my parent were rich/famous I would try to use it o boot strap myself too. It is human nature even if it is not fair for the rest of the world. She still has to deliver the goods in the end.
ReplyDeleteIdol brings in ringers every season. And it would be a little silly to try to make it on your talent, because everyone should know by now that talent isn't what gets people selected. The show is cast for types, not just for talent.
ReplyDeleteHell, it happens on SYTYCD too - each season has a theme, and at least some of the people chosen are selected as part of that theme. At least on SYTYCD, you can't fake your talent and get by on personality or whatever - you either have the technique or you don't.
OMG I watched her perform. I know the judges wanted to say NO to her but they were polite & advanced her to the next level. She should of not advanced, but it is Jim Carreys daughter after all. She will not go far in this competition.
