Martha Stewart Has Her Show Canceled
Last year it was time to say goodbye to Oprah and this year it is time to say buh bye to Martha Stewart. The Martha Stewart Show is being canceled because no one is watching it. The same was true of Oprah. Yes, people watched it last year, but not as many as you would expect, but the show had been on a steady decline and it was inevitable that at some point stations would have stopped carrying it.
Martha's show will stop airing new episodes in April. You know, I had no idea she was 70. I never really thought about it. I guess it makes sense, but you know what? She looks pretty damn good for 70 and working as much as she does. It is not like she does not have a million other things to do. What she should do though is find some people like Oprah did so the brand can continue and you develop new stars while taking a huge cut of their earnings.
I'd like to see her on the Foodnetwork. That's where she belongs now.
ReplyDeleteAnd I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HER on Iron Chef America, go head to head with Michael Symon!!!!
Can you imagine?
agreed rita, i watched her old show before she came to hallmark or nbc and she had great cooking advice. Also, she has tons of magazines-martha stewart living, martha stewart weddings and everday food to name a few.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I notice is never mentioned is that ATT/Uverse does not carry Hallmark Channel, which is why I don't watch her show. If I could, I would have DVRed it daily.
ReplyDeleteI love her. I wish I could get her &/or Vern Yip to redecorate my house.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see her have a show on OWN. That wold be a nice fit if they get along well.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a tv, but I'll miss her crazy ass when she finally stops. The shows of her I have watched are a mix of unintentional comedic gold and great tips.
ReplyDeleteScratch that.
ReplyDeleteI want to see her go head-to-head with that dramatic bitch Bobby Flay! Bobby snapping at his sous-chefs, and slapping the shit out of the poor mixer, while the ice queen coolly tsk-tsk-tsks at him on her side of Kitchen Stadium, and finishing her dishes in record time.
Mr. Chairman, can you hear me?
She still has the best ever cookbook...I know I've said it before but that first book "ENTERTAINING" is my go to book when I want something special....
ReplyDelete@Rita
ReplyDeleteThat's what I initially thought. Martha v. Bobby. Though, for some reason I think he'd be nicer to her cause he knows she's a bigger biatch than he is!
@MISCH - I need to order it! I still have her business book that I've not read yet.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe she's 70 either! She looks fantastic. I would watch her shows on occasion...she can be a little bland. I like her better in interviews. I like her website and subscribe to her newsletter(s).
I have Entertainment too, and it is my most valuable cookbook! You can impress the shit out of your guests with that book.
ReplyDeleteShe's 70?! My god, I didn't believe you, Lelaina, till I looked it up myself. Had no idea.
ReplyDeleteI love a brand-new crisp copy of Living, I get so many ideas from it.
Martha Stewart taught me how to cook. I thought that whole jail term was a shock.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen her show, but I used to love Everyday Food on PBS. Really, though, I think shows like hers are on their way out. So many people get their crafting/cooking/decorating advice online now, it makes the television versions seem a bit tired.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I agree she looks great for 70. I had guessed her to be around 10 years younger, but looking even younger than that.
@Sue Ellen - you're right! Marimoto then? I think Martha will too flirty with Symon anyways. The ladies swoon when he's around:)
ReplyDeleteMartha Stewart and Bobby Flay, that would be entertaining.
ReplyDeleteI remember her first show back in the day on PBS. I think it came on after This Old House. My dad was like totally in love with her. And he'd always bust my Mom's balls saying things like, "Martha wouldn't do it this way." Of course, if my husband said shit like that to me, I would stab him, but that may be a generational difference between me and my mom. Although, I think my Mom would tell him to fuck off, again something Martha would not do. Hee.
I sometimes watch her talk show. Her cookbooks are phenom. She's not my fave celebrity chef by any means, but I do respect her. Nigella Lawson, who is kind of the anti-Martha, is my chef girl crush. Love her!!
I wouldn't worry about Martha, though. With her lines in KMart and Macys, and doesn't she hawk shit on HSN, she's set for life. Go retire and have a drink with Ina Garten, Martha!
Would also love to see her against Bobby Flay. She has the loveliest sounding laugh.
ReplyDeleteShe's had work done.
ReplyDeleteNobody suddenly gets cheeks (except Madonna).

Oh and btw, that butternut squash in the pic, looks like a 3rd boob growing from her waist.
ReplyDeleteShe looks FAB for 70 and if she's had work done, it's been very good. I've always liked Martha. She is who she is and she's never apologized.
ReplyDeleteI watch her show around the holidays. Maybe if she went topless with a dickey, more people would watch.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how Martha doesn't have her own channel. She is a goddess and I will follow her to the end of the earth. I just love this woman.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who remembers that Martha pinned someone to a fence with her SUV?!

Sorry. It was a pole.
Martha was like the domesticated mother I never had, she taught me that I could do all sorts of things I would never imagined such as making christmas wreaths. I must have 15 hand made christmas wreaths. She helped develop my love of cooking and baking and my interest home decor.
ReplyDeleteIve pretty much always imagined her as the woman who's so sweet and nice then threatens your life in a whisper.
ReplyDelete@Sue Ellen, and she wasn't there when her do was put to sleep.
ReplyDeleteNow I see why she would scare a bitch like Bobby Flay! hehe;)
I love Martha's food...but she's not a real chef like Flay or Symon, she could never survive an Iron Chef...she's a planner not spontaneous ...she'd have a nervous breakdown, everything needs to be perfect...Iron Chef, Chopped thats a different breed altogether...
ReplyDeletemeant *dog put to sleep.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Paula Dean was on Iron Chef America, teamed with Cat Cora for Christmas (fried in deep buttuh). They won! So if Paula Dean can work it fast, why not Martha!
ReplyDeletecosign cancan
ReplyDeleteI used to religiously watch her show when it was on the first network. I still subscribe to all her magazines. She has built a genius enterprise. However, she is not a nice person, is a terrible interviewer, and has had scads of work done. Still pretty but let's not pretend she cleans her own house and doesn't age.
ReplyDeleteLove her. That is all.
ReplyDeleteI have no feelings about Martha one way or the other, but Hallmark replaced 20 year old repeats of the Golden Girls with her show, and the GG had higher ratings. I did enjoy that, because I love me some Golden Girls.
ReplyDeletei love martha! have some of her apps, books, have done many a martha project. my speciality chicken is from one of her books. i suspect she'll land somewhere else, like america's most wanted. and yes, she looks great!
ReplyDeleteI am a little ashamed to admit it, but I watch her show religiously and am so sad to hear they are cancelling it. I've learned so much about cooking and crafts from her.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Martha! She is so REAL! I love her mags too. All of them are great with wonderful ideas.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about her show. I don't have cable, so I couldn't watch. I would take her any day over Wretched Ray.
70 is the new 50---I swear! My mother will be 68 this year and she looks about 45.
I had heard that about the Big O's show losing stations. OWN is sure sucking too from all I've read.
