Sarah Jessica Parker For Demi Moore?

Lovelace, which is being shot right now has a certain feel. I can tell is it is going to be 70's authentic and it looks like it will probably be dark and I thought Demi Moore as Gloria Steinem was great casting. They have a similar look and feel and I think Demi can bring the dark and dramatic as well as anyone. When Demi decided she enjoyed smoking synthetic pot and snorting nitrus more than working though she had to drop out. So, if you are a producer who are you going to bring in? Carrie Bradshaw. Seriously. Sarah Jessica Parker is going to star as Gloria Steinem. As much as I love Demi for the role is how much I dislike SJP for this role. Sarah is box office poison and I don't think this movie is going to do great anyway so you might as well make the acting top notch and hope for some awards and a bunch of horny teens who want to see Amanda Seyfried naked. I can't take Sarah seriously as an actress. The one time she tried to play serious in Family Stone she was awful and she does not do drama. At this point you might as well just throw Amanda out on her butt and bring back Lindsay Lohan and really drive this movie into the grave of bad acting.

  1. I got the impression it was a minor role -- so minor I think I had seen references to Demi's "cameo" without bothering to mention the part is Steinem.

  2. Ummm...I disagree with EVERYTHING in this post.

SJP can act fucking circles around Demi, and I think she'll make a WAY better Steinem.

And I think Amanda is a billion times more appealing than Lindsay, but there *was* a time when Lindsay was one of the best young actresses in Hollywood.

It still upsets me that this movie is attracting actors of any caliber, though. And I have to also wonder what Gloria Steinem thinks of her inclusion in this project. I'm sure she's probably not too gung-ho about the whole thing.

  3. SJP wasn't the first choice to replace Demi. Blake Lively, Megan Fox and Miley turned it down before they called SJP.

I thought SJP was great in Family Stone. She was the reason I wanted to see it. Her inability to fit in was perfect, I felt so bad for her because she was trying...

I believe Malin Ackerman is the one who replaced LL, this is a different movie. That was the one that will have no substance (clue #1, they spent all that money on posters before even starting filming). The Amanda Seyfried movie might be quality. I can't see her going for a T&A movie, she can command better. I also don't see SJP signing up for a T&A movie either.

  5. I don't know. She might surprise everybody like Mariah Carey did in Precious.

  6. Enty wake up! It's Mary Louise Parker who is playing Gloria now.

  7. Gloria S was a real good-looking woman

and SJP doesn't look like her or even the same feeling

  8. I read Mary Louise Parker also, and I think this is fantastic casting...way better than Demi. I don't kniw whats going on with Demi but she sure isn't thinking ...also I notice her soon to be ex hubby (if they are even legally married) didn't rush to her side...
Demi you're a mom...you have 3 daughters time to think of someone other than yourself...

  9. Wait, I think it IS SJP! It was reported yesterday that MLP was the replacement, but they got their Parker's wrong!

    Kudos to Enty!

  10. yeah not feeling this post with enty either. I think SJP is better casting. I have read it is just a cameo so it won't have a big impact on th film who plays it.

  11. 1) Demi Moore has been box office poison for 15 years. Remember The Scarlet Letter, GI Jane and many others. After the Charlie's Angels sequels in which she had done everything she could to steal the spotlight, she has been more or less blacklisted for her various requests on set.

    2) I don't know if Enty has the right Parker but he has the wrong Lovelace biopic. Lindsay Lohan was cast for "Inferno" and she has been replaced by Malin Ackerman.

    3) Who will play Linda's husband, Miguelito?

  12. slightly OT - isn't salvia "like marijuana" and can cause seizures?

  13. @pomme, I have to respectfully disagree. Gloria was/is a GORGEOUS woman, and I think SJP absolutely *does* have the right look to portray her -- big, thick hair with a strong jaw.

I also am in the minority in that I honestly think SJP is a beautiful woman in her own right, though. I even think she's more attractive than generic ol' Demi Moore.

    Diff'rent strokes.

  14. Agreed 100% with Ida regarding SJP being a MUCH better and more nuanced actor than Demi Moore.

And this should be another example of how undeniably male Enty is-

anyone who has seen the seasons of Sex and the City can tell you SJP is a wonderfully talented actor who doesnt have to be over the top to shine, cough Demi, cough.

And enty, as many men before him, seems to have avoided S and the C like the freaking plague if he doesnt know this about her.

For what it's worth tho I think Mary Louise Parker would be a better fit in that role

  15. ^and yes Ida, I also agree that SJP is more beautiful than Demi plastic Moore.

But then again I've never been the most stoic fan of in your face beauty- finding the beauty you sometimes have to search for in a second glance far more facinating ~

  16. I also loved SJP in Family Stone. She played the neurotic repressive to a T and it was funny how Luke Wilson's stoner character was the one to see through to her true nature and loosen her up. I know that movie was critically panned, but I really enjoyed it. Have watched it several times on cable.

  17. Feminists worked with Linda Lovelace when she was getting out of the industry and I know one of them was Gloria Steinem, who wrote an anti-porn thing as a result. It was before my time -- Andrea Dworkin and Catharine A. MacKinnon absolutely worked with her in drafting their anti-porn proposed legislation. I know Lovelace later said at least MacKinnon and Dworkin basically used her for their own purposes and a fast buck; not sure if she felt the same way about Steinem. But Steinem absolutely was involved with Lovelace.

  18. I don't care if SJP is playing Demi Moore - she would do a better job acting as Demi than Demi would.

  19. SJP has been in lots of movies, some dramas, and people seem to forget that she was working steadily before SATC. She's a good actress. She's won awards. And if SJP is box office poison then wtf is Demi Moore who hasnt even had a movie thats gone to theaters in years let alone been successful.

  20. I'm no fan of SJP, but can't pretty much everyone act circles around Demi? SJP is ugly deluxe, but I'll give her credit for having some acting skills.

  21. I really liked Family Stone and I thought SJP did great as her neurotic character.

  23. I just watched Demi in "Margin Call." She was pretty good in that small role. It helped that she was paired with Stanley Tucci who she acted with in Woody Allen's "Deconstructing Harry." Demi is a pretty good actress and has held her own against some major acting talents - De Niro, Penn, Nicholson, Redford. Remember back in early '93 when Demi was one of the 5 biggest actresses in Hollywood? I think the other major ones were Julia and Meg. How times change.

  24. Demi is plain as fuck in the face, acts like a rebellious 14-year-old in real life, has annoying fugly daughters who think they are celebrities, and hasn't had a hit since the '90s. Team SJP all the way.

  25. And remember, SJP has also been a legit Broadway actress. She was Annie!

  26. Also I think if this is well done Lovelace can be a very powerful and empowering movie. Enty is probably thinking it's just an excuse to get some sex on the screen, but it's very far from that.

    ReplyDelete
  27. @msgirl -- Given Linda Lovelace's own tragic circumstances, I just don't understand how this movie can ever be "empowering." The woman had a VERY unhappy ending.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Ida - I'm with you. Love Enty. Disagree with this post in it's entirety.

That being said, this is a pretty dark story, and while "dark" might not bring in the bucks at the box office, I predict the DVD sales will be much better.

  29. I'm hoping this movie brings focus to what I've heard about LL... that her husband held a pistol to her head so she would do the acting... and she had to act as if she was enjoying it. The he played Russian Roulette (sp?) with the gun with her...

I'm hoping this makes more of a case *against* porn... I hope that it's more pro-Linda Lovelace woman, than pro-Linda Lovelace pornstar.

(Before I heard the info about LL, I had no problem with porn movies (except the titles..), but ever since I heard that, I have serious issues).

I hope this is empowering for Linda Lovelace, I guess is what I'm trying to say, not just soft-core porn.

  30. I think both Demi and Sara are good actors, personally. What gives with the Demi hate today?

  31. "Ummm...I disagree with EVERYTHING in this post.

Absolutely, Ida. What the hell, Enty? When was Demi Moore ever a decent actress?

  32. None of the actresses mentioned have the aura of strength that would enable them to play Gloria Steinem, which says something about Hollywood. All the women with any real ovaries (hey, makes more sense than saying balls in this context) are tossed out of that town. To make it there you have to be a chronic giggler and hair tosser like SJP or a desperate 50-something still trying to be 24 like Demi.

  33. I thought Demi was great in Bobby.

If she can memorize her lines and deal with the heat from the cameras, then she'll be just fine.

  35. SJP was adorable when she was younger. She didn't age well, but I think if she gained a few pounds she would look 100% better. She is so much more likeable than Demi Moore. I would much rather see her in the film. A few years ago Demi complained how hard it was to get roles because she didn't look like a woman her age. *cough, cough* Maybe no one actually WANTS to see her. Now she looks like a woman twice her age.

  36. I agree that SJP cannot act. I have never enjoyed her, and her image on screen is like sand in the bathing suit - uncomfortable and hard to remove. She is a one note, like Jennifer Anniston.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I am glad that I'm not the only one to totally disagree with Enty on this one.

Since when is SJP box office poison?? The second SATC didn't do so well, but the first one did. And yes, she's been a Broadway (i.e., "real") actress.

I think she can act very well. AND, I find her very attractive in what I thin of as that "French" way, where idiocyncracies are prized over Barbie doll identicalness.

If you just tossed these pictures out here, knowing nothing about the actresses, and asked me "Who to play Gloria Steinem?" I'd pick SJP just because she looks smarter, for some reason. That said, I don't think she's pretty at all, and Demi stopped being pretty about the time she did "Ghost".

    ReplyDelete
  39. Since it's just a cameo role, I don't really think it's that big a deal. I'm a bit more horrified at Blake Lively or Megan Fox being considered!

I will always love SJP because of SATC and I LOVE her in The Family Stone!

  40. I go to see all SJP movies. I'll check this one out too.

    TEAM SARAH

  42. I find SJP too "cutesy" in every role she plays and agree drama isn't her best genre.
