Is Ayla Brown Worth $3000 A Show?
Do you know who singer Ayla Brown is? I remember her season of American Idol and have talked about her in this space before. I thought she should have gone a little bit further in the competition, but she was nothing that special. However, she is a singer and her dad is a US Senator so he is willing to pay his daughter $3000 a show to performs a few songs for him at campaign rallies. I would love to know how many Idol contestants who finished as far back as she did are pulling down 3K a show. I wonder when the last time Ayla pulled down 3K a show for anyone other than her dad. I am wagering that even Ace Young on his Real Housewives appearance did not command that much money. If he did it would be because Taylor was expecting a little one on one vocal coaching. Well, look on the bright side. Ayla could have been in the Girl Scouts and wanted her dad to buy $3K worth of cookies.
I could eat 3K worth of Girl Scout cookies. Probably in one weekend.
ReplyDeleteWay to burn up those campaign donations.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm sure that's not really what his donors had in mind. Whatever happened to yard signs?
ReplyDeleteIt's okay, Ms. Cool. Scott Brown gets tons of "donations" from Wall Street.
ReplyDeleteAs long as everything is on the up and up, who cares? My dad thinks I'm the most beautiful woman in the world, dads love their daughters and think they're great at everything.
ReplyDeleteI just checked her out on youtube. she is just another mediocre singer who oftentimes can't sing in tune.
ReplyDeleteHer father scott brown took Ted Kennedy's seat. The democrat who brown ran against was a woman w/zero charisma who thought she didn't have to work to win.
the daughter being paid to sing at events for her father sounds very shady. very shady.
as soon as her father was elected he shopped around his memoir and held out for, I believe, a 7 figure deal. a first time senator who had done nothing interesting before his election to the senate!
he's in it to squeeze whatever he can out of it. Luckily, Elizabeth Warren is running against him in the next election so, fingers crossed, he will be a one-term guy.
Ahh nepotism at it's finest.
ReplyDeleteOh please, like the other politicians don't do this. He just got caught.
ReplyDelete@SusanB, exactly, they all have relatives on the payroll. His is just up front and singing.
ReplyDelete@Annabella - Indeed. Elizabeth Warren is leading Scott Brown by 4 points and climbing higher each month.
ReplyDeleteMy niece went to school with Ayla and Scott was known as a super-proud and super-competitive dad, to the point where it was annoying to other students and parents (and this was before he was high profile politically). Supposedly every year since graduation he has called the school and asked them when they're going to retire her basketball number.
ReplyDeleteI don't particularly care for him, but I'm kind of glad to see that he seems to be just as enthusiastic and into what he daughters do as he would be if they were boys. I think he way overestimates how good she is.
I'm sure she dosen't keep the whole 3k. Some goes to the band, some goes towards travel arrangement, maybe some to her manager.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or does $3k not seem like that exorbitant a price for a professional singer? Mountain, molehill, anyone?
ReplyDeleteKeeping that donation money in the family. A little on the suspect side but not that big of a deal. She is his daughter after all.
ReplyDeleteProbably still cheaper than getting your rump sued off for using someone's music illegally, like most Republicans do.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, it also depends on if that's the total for the band as well.
Still... go Elizabeth!
None of the band members were paid just this idiot. They keep trying to make her happen but she's not going to happen. She's so annoying because she thinks she's some big time Boston celebrity and she's not. I cannot STAND this girl (can you tell!?).
ReplyDeleteAs for him, I loved how he wanted everyone to think he's just some average Joe working man by wearing his barn jacket and driving a pick up truck when he was campaigning. That pick up truck was purchased to haul his daughters horse around. lol I also hated that I had to vote for him.
