RIP. :( I looooooooove those books!
ReplyDeleteSo sad! I read those books all the time -- even when I was older just because I loved them that much.
ReplyDeleteAwww. Love these books. Gotta get some for my bambino.
ReplyDeleteAnyone see Idiocracy?
ReplyDeleteLovelyness like this dies while Lilos/Teen Moms/Kuntrashians live on to multiply this planet.
RIP Jan, you are a national treasure and produced enthusiasm and joy in reading for countless generations of children. I think that's pretty much the most awesome thing anybody can claim to do. You will be missed~
RIP
ReplyDeleteI'm really sad
RIP Jan!
ReplyDeleteI grew up reading her books and now my son reads them, how sad.
My oldest son (now in college) loved those books. His favorite was about a little red car going putt putt putt and winning a race. RIP, Jan, and thank you.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me want to cry. Not only did I read these books as a child but I read them daily to my children when they were young. In fact I actually bought the entire collection, 2 books at a time and still have them to this day. Sad :( RIP
ReplyDeleteI loved these books and loved getting the scholastic order forms in school to pick out the books I wanted.
ReplyDeleteRIP
ReplyDeleteahh sad to hear this ;(
ReplyDeleteI loved the books as a child, my kids loved the books and the tv show as well.
RIP Jan, you brough countless hours for me and my children.
* Joy, countless hours of joy.
ReplyDelete@Jasmine: I just saw that movie a couple of nights ago. It's what'll happen when the Snookis, J-Wowws and Situations have been running the country for a few generations. Funny but scary!
ReplyDeleteAnd now, The Berenstein Bears Go to Heaven. Have a sweet trip!
ReplyDeleteLoved the books but the more recent ones are done by her kid(s) and are full of Jesus this and Jesus that. I'll stil to the classic ones, thank you very much
ReplyDeleteCaprica, I heard that. It really pisses me off. Those books were fun for everyone-not just for children of a specific religion.
ReplyDeleteI loved these books when I was little. My favorite was the one where Sister was being a show-off and so Brother started a club she couldn't be in. (I always thought Sister was kind of a pain.) I think the book was called "No Girls Allowed!"
They marketed some Berenstain Bears novels in the '90s that tried really hard to be "hip" and just came off as cheesy. Anyone else remember those? I doubt Stan and jan really wrote them-it wasn't their style at all.
I believe I have a book autographed by them. Will have to look for it.
