Mary Kay House Up For Sale Again
5 years ago, there was no one who was willing to pay $5.7M for Mary Kay's former house. Now it is back on the market and is listed at $3.3M. Today is a slow day and I remember back in the day when you would be driving along and then all of a sudden see a pink car and you just knew that person was selling Mary Kay cosmetics. It was a brilliant reward and marketing move and I don't think Mary Kay Ash is given enough credit at how genius she was. I did expect the house to be swathed in pink though.

My elementary school teachers were all into Mary Kay cosmetics back in the 80s.

I always wonder what it would be like to live in a house like that. It's beautiful.
Beautiful house, I know a mary kay lady and they have "upgraded" from pink cadillacs to pink escalades.
That house is too nice for me. I'd probably just hover in the foyer and eat over the sink.
On my first day of work, I noticed a basket of cosmetics nearby. I was about to look in but then I saw Mary Kay and pulled away. Thank God because the woman who was selling them was watching me like a hawk. I'm not saying they're bad cosmetics, I just don't want sales pressure in the office.
@ anita_mark - Girl, I feel you. Cosmetic salesladies make me cray cray with their stalking abilities. And I mean, even the ones in the stores. Then they guilt you into buying a bunch of crap that you don't need or want. It's so much pressure.
This is why Sephora is such a win for me.
I loathe the decorating style here, but am digging the pool.
I don't think I'd like living in a house that big actually.
I remember Mary Kay from the 1980s, when you had to wet the brush and put it in the dry eyeshadow...euw...
I have to pass Sephora on my walk home from work. It's so hard. It's cheaper to just take my car and pay $12 for parking then cut through a mall.

There was a lady in my town growing up (80-90's) that had the pink Cadillac. I remember thinking she must of been 'like Joan Rivers or someone just as great!'. Hahah.
@Enty - I read somewhere else the house WAS painted with more pink but they toned that down in recent years trying to make it more "sell-able".

Of course, if I had a house that large, I guess I'd have a chef.
I had a good friend in the Houston area who's hubby was a vp with an oil company. Their house was so huge, it had a wine cellar (although they didn't drink) and two kitchens--one was a mini one, I can't think of the proper term for it (it wasn't a bar). She also had a large outdoor grill and patio area near the pool.
The thing is, she didn't cook. They ate out all the time.
Looking at millionaires homes is one of my guilty pleasures. I wouldnt want to own them. Im too cheap to pay someone 50k a year to keep the grounds looking good and someone else 50k a year to keep it clean and running well. I do love to look though.
Some of them show money does not buy taste. Proof is in The Donalds home. Tacky city. This one is very tasteful in comparison.
Just to add on to Anotheramy's comment, I found a house about a half hour down the road from me that was on the Sotheby's real estate site. It was approx. $750K, and it looked like a gingham nightmare. It was EVERYWHERE, and not all the same pattern.
This house looks quite tasteful in comparison.
My boss is a Mary Kay sales person (she will kill me and correct me whatever term they use these days). She made the point to tell me that Mary Kay hated the color pink. That it was actually her husband who encouraged her to go all pink as a sales gimmick.
I thought it was Mary Kate Olson's house for some reason!
