Amanda Bynes Headed To Rehab

In the next week or so I fully expect Amanda Bynes to be headed to rehab. There are two people in her life actively trying to get her to go to rehab. Unfortunately they are not the only voices in her ear. The others who don't want her to go to rehab basically live off Amanda and her fading fame and like to go out partying every night with Amanda picking up the check. At this point the two people trying to get Amanda to go fear they are going to see either a photo of her cutting her hair off like Britney Spears or something worse. As in, Amanda's life is spiraling out of control and one day they are afraid she might think the hole is too deep. One of the two people trying to get her to rehab told me, "She was already in bad shape before the DUI a couple of weeks ago. She isn't used to this level of attention and it's freaking her out. The last time I talked to her she seemed manic and was talking a mile a minute and the next you could barely hear what she was saying because she was mumbling and seemed even more out of it." The person went on to say, "Amanda eats maybe once a day at the most and sometimes it is once every two days. She's terrified of gaining a pound and I have seen her cry on the scale when she has. She wants to work but is scared to work because she is scared to audition because she doesn't want to get rejected. She needs help but just won't take that step."

  1. I remember watching her on her show on Nick and thinking she had a bright future. Very sad.

  2. I'm not even sure who she is (sometimes these young things blur together) but I feel sad for her. She must feel so paralyzed. I hope someone spirits her away to the right sort of help.

    Not okay.

  3. She needs to head to a salon and do something about her Strawberry Shortcake piss-colored hair.

  4. If she's so scared of rejection then why the hell did she get into showbiz?

  5. Let's hope she makes the right decisions.

  6. She has genuine talent. If she can get herself cleaned up and stop worrying about conforming to Hollywood's unnatural body standards, she will get work. She just needs the strength and humility to take supporting roles for a while, then she'll get a shot at leads again.

  7. @Megley - she was so young when she started in showbiz that I'm sure it wasn't her decision.

  8. You know what I just realized? I don't think it's just child actors who have trouble transitioning. I'm the youngest child in my family and def wasn't ready for college at 18 but I was sent off and flunked out the first semester. I wont say how long ago that was but I'm seeing a therapist to figure out why I missed the part where everyone learns how to live on their own and take care of themselves. I think it's the same thing as child actors. Some grow up great like the Olsen twins (maybe they party but they have themselves pulled together and are very smart businesswomen) or Fred Savage and then you have the LiLo's and now Amanda Bynes. I used to think there was something traumatic about acting but now I think it's something that can happen to any person.

  10. Who are the two losers mooching off of her? I hope the people that actually care about her can convince her to go. She needs a therapist, as well.

  11. Dr. T-Grape's prognosis: Bi-polar

  12. Hopefully she will get help. Im trying to be positive!

  13. Holy crap, this is sad. But some of this is youth - I remember being much more timid/shy or say insecure in certain situations when I was younger. Now that I'm older, I wish I could go back and tell my younger self to not be so scared.

Any whoo, I really hope she goes to rehab and gets back on track.

  14. I have an adorable 14 year old niece (think Selena Gomez/Demi Lovato-ish) who my sister-in-law was desperate to get into show biz. They used to live not too far from Disney World/Nickelodeon Studios and dear SIL had bright dreams of my niece being a big star. Luckily my brother put his foot down and they moved a bit further away from temptation.

@katsm0711 - I would love to be a fly on the wall at the Olsen loft/s. I'm sure there is absolutely no food in the Subzero refrigerator, lots of coke lying around and they have highly paid, savvy business managers making decisions for them.

  15. Not all child actors have their childhoods stolen for the sake of leeching parents. Anna Kendrick was so determined that she wanted to act that she demanded lessons and then pleaded with her parents to let her go to New York for auditions in her early teens. Result? She was an established Broadway star by the time most kids were having their proms and now she's a rising Hollywood star. Barring her possibly being the answer for a couple of BI's, she seems stable, happy and successful.

  16. This is a sad situation. She seemed like such a good kid..I hope she gets the help she needs.

  17. My teenage daughter used to love her show on Nick. She was really funny.
I hope she works her shit out.

I'm with you T Grape. Sounds suspicously like Bi Polar.

  18. Amanda is a pretty girl and would make a great character actress. But I think she has it in her head she is a romantic lead. She just isn't "Hollywood Hot". I can imagine what would happen if she auditioned for Michael Bay.

I hope whoever is urging to go to rehab succeeds. She could have a good life ahead of her if she just manages her expectations of her career. Has LiLo taught these girls nothing?

  19. I think being in the spotlight and being an It Girl can make things miserable when you're suddenly not. You haven't been prepped to be average.
Amanda had her child star experience then went on to a few movies and What I Like About You, she was starting to take on a sexy look, but the look didn't translate as well into adulthood.
She's still pretty but suddenly she's average in a town that hates average.

  20. Wow, poor kid :( I really hope the people trying to help her win out over the vultures. I hope she can get some help.

  21. Adderall + Red Bull + Xanax + Ambien looks like bi-polar but maybe isn't.

  22. She needs self confidence. If she feels she islacking take an acting class and learn what you need. I'm guessing anxiety attacks and self medication is a big problem for her.

Maybe she needs out of the fishbowl (shark tank) that Hollywoodland seems to be. Wishing her the best of luck.

  23. I'm just glad that she does have some people in her life who are trying to help her. After what her dad said after her DUI I think it's pretty apparent that the people trying to help her aren't family.

  24. I thought she was charming in What a Girl Wants. I hope she sucks up her pride, listens to the people who have her best interests at heart and gets help.

    Off topic:

@katsm0711 -- "I'm the youngest child in my family ..." I think you answered your own question. It's been my observation and experience that the youngest children in a family tend to be babied and indulged way too long. I'm not necessarily saying you were spoiled, because I don't know you, but I think it happens more often than not.

Youngest children seem to lag behind in doing things because they are used to their older siblings and their parents doing things for them. I've seen it time and time again, including in my own family.

I am the oldest. I worked and did internships in college, began working professionally in my field while still attending school, bought a house, took vacations, established a retirement plan, made a will, etc. Basically, I became an adult.

My brother, who is 6.5 years younger than me, is now 36. He has always lived with either our parents or me. He has no savings, no steady source of income, no insurance, no college degree (he dropped out 12 hours short), no ambition, and flunked out of his first college because he partied too much and didn't apply himself.

He plays on his Xbox for hours at a time, pays me a nominal rent when I insist on it, keeps his bedroom and bathroom looking like pigstys (even though he knows I am a neat freak and it upsets me), doesn't do anything around the house, and whines whenever I ask him to run an errand for me.

I know I am enabling him, but if I cut him off my mother would never speak to me again, and neither would he. So I am stuck, and he continues to live the easy life and no one seems to mind except me.

So, long story long, I really think birth order plays an important part in determining a person's maturity level.

  26. Texshan, time to call Mom and Brother over to your house and give him a 60 day notice and a written rental agreement. Make it his choice not yours. He has 60 days to make a decision - clean up his act and his room, pay a decent amount of rent, sign an agreement, or go elsewhere. That might work. Good luck to you, I could not do what you are doing. :)

As for Amanda, I said it last week, I have my fingers crossed for her. She and Colin Firth somehow made that movie they did together bearable and she seemed to have so much potential. Hopefully the good people in her life win out over the leeches.

  27. My oldest will be a senior. She is having what I am referring to as an " early life crisis". Life is a pressure cooker for kids nearing adult hood whether they are doing it in the spotlight or not.

Always thought Amanda was funny. I hope she gets her life together and deals with the demons that have her on the path to destruction.

  28. as long as she stays alive she can have any colour hair she wants.

this girl has addiction problems coupled with paranoia from bad drugs, probably. taking an acting class isn't going to cut it.

  29. I'm worried for her. I hope this story is going to have a happy ending.

  30. Agree timebob.

And well said about her hair colour, jax :)

Thanks, FS. Unfortunately, easier said than done. And my mom is dealing with some pretty severe health issues right now, as am I, so I don't think either of us need the added stress at this moment. But it is definitely on the radar. Something's gotta give, you know?

BTW, I completely agree w/hair color not being indicative of problems. I was a teenager in the 80's, and I rocked some funky colors while being completely well-adjusted. One time I bleached my hair and then, like a dummy, went to swim team practice. My hair turned green. I thought it was cool and kept it for a few months. I also tried purple, pink, orange, scarlet, and blue hair at different times. Was never sent to the principal's office, got in trouble with the law, had serious parental disciplinary issues, etc. Hair color is the least of Amanda's issues. I have run out of patience with Lilo; Amanda, not yet. Get it together, girl.

  33. She should go into porn. It's the most natural progression

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm the youngest and have absolutely no career path. It's definitely tough in the real world when you've had family holding your hand all your life. I'm not a pay about but have way less direction than my sisters.

Feel sad for Amanda, she needs to do an audition to break the fear she has.

  35. I agree with Kelly and Timebob:

That's not bi-polar, that's addiction coupled with possible early abuse and years of never being told "no".

She really is talented so a nice long stint in rehab, a change of "friends" and acceptance of "plucky sidekick" status instead of trying to be beauty ideal she does not and will not fit may get her back on screen.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I hope Amanda listens to the 2 people who want her to go to Rehab. This girl needs help!

    ReplyDelete
  37. good. hope they convince her to go to rehab. hopefully its not too late. she was cute little thing. sad thar its come to this, but she needs to face the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I also remember her from her Nick days and hope she gets herself together - she seems to be really talented.

Off topic - I got my sis in law hooked to this site and she thinks that since Jennie Garth and her ex husband got divorced, Amanda thought he would take up with her; he turned her down and she's acting out.

It seems that Amanda's crazy hollywood behavior came out of nowhere so suddenly. Hope she gets help.

  39. Wonder which camp Amanda's in-official-denial dad dentist is in?

Look, what she's going through is no different from someone who lis in an unemployment slump. The plummet of one's self-esteem with every rejection can lead to giving up. Then put that on steroids if you're talking about acting in Hollywood.

Whatever her offscreen antics might be, remember that this is the girl once hailed as "the next Carol Burnett." She's a talented comedian. Maybe all this drama will fuel her and she'll blossom into a fully-rounded ahhhctress. What could be more important, right?

  40. Athena and Kelly (and others), it's totally true what you're saying. But sadly it's increasingly common for people with substance-induced conditions to be diagnosed as if they had a non-substance-induced form of that condition. In hospitals, the staff often doesn't have the time to detox, get a client into clean living, then reassess mental condition six months or a year later. The DSM clearly says "Don't diagnose with X [or Y, even] if the problems did not exist prior to the substance use," but in terms of front-line care or triage, people make the diagnosis that they shouldn't, often. Does that mean she doesn't have the mood issues? Who can say. She's clearly messed up on substances, though.

  42. A few years ago before Amanda "quit" acting she sent out a late night tweet about how into black guys she was and how wonderful they are.

I'm not sure if she was in competition with someone over one guy or what the reason for the tweet was. But I found it very odd that she was tweeting her sexual preferences for all to know. Doesn't matter if the men/man was black, green or purple. Most young women do not advertise in that manner. Shortly after I believe she dropped her twitter and "retired" from acting.

Hope she can get it together because life should be joyful for a young woman and she deserves that.
