Lindsay Lohan To Play Elizabeth Taylor - It's A Made For TV Movie
I think lost in the last couple of months of the talk about Lindsay Lohan playing Elizabeth Taylor loses sight of the most important piece of the equation. It's a made for television movie. You know what that means right? Lindsay is now equal to the acting talents of Pia Zadora, Tori Spelling, Crystal Bernard, Yasmine Bleeth, Robin Givens, Soleil Moon Frye, Denise Richards, and Shannen Doherty. They too also starred in made for television movies. The only difference between Lindsay's movie and My Stepson, My Lover or A Face To Kill For or A Face To Die For (which are not even related by the way) is that this movie happens to be based on Elizabeth Taylor. It still does not change the fact that it is a made for tv movie. Yes, for the rest of eternity we will be forced to hear about how Lindsay portrayed Elizabeth Taylor, but you just always need to remember to add to that sentence, "On Lifetime." Home of other great classics like Baby For Sale, A Killing Secret, and Imaginary Playmate.
Blowhan doesn't even look like Liz. Bah.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know - is it true that she's going to play Liz for one part of Liz's life, and another actress will play Liz as well?
ReplyDeleteHope she doesn't screw it up.
Whichever movie had Yasmine Bleeth playing the woman with the scarred face is a classic lifetime movie.
ReplyDeleteShe's Too Young is my fave lifetime movie. West Clinton High!
ReplyDeletethat john stamos one; the two mr. kissels was an awesome lifetime movie.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that Lohand(typo, but it is staying) and Liz have in common is that they are from the human race. IT.ENDS.THERE. It would not suprose me if somewhere down the line in the production-she pops positive for drugs, she gets exhaustion, she ends up getting arrested/sued/in a car accident/bar fight etc. I know, that we are just talking about Lifetime, but for someone like her to play someone of Liz's caliber, it just leaves me shaking my head.
ReplyDeleteTwo things...
ReplyDelete1. You forgot to and Jennifer Love Hewitt to that list.
2. Lilo has had more projects fall through than flour through a sifter, so there is also a good possibility this wont' happen (fingers crossed).
What happened to Yasmine Bleethe? She was so pretty, but disappeared after her coke habit.
ReplyDeleteShe would be more believable as Larry Fortensky than Liz.
ReplyDeleteThis is just stunt programming. Remember the TV movie not too long ago with some actress who played Kate Middleton and their courtship? Yeah, neither do I. Lindsay looks nothing like Liz Taylor, she'd be better off playing Doris Day with all the freckles*, but people will watch for trainwreck value alone.
ReplyDelete*There's a story in Doris Day, all the divorces, losing her money, Rock Hudson, her son and Charles Manson...
Ah but Doris is still alive the bio will have to wait..
ReplyDeleteAs I mentioned before the producers has a back-up in place in case Lindsay gets arrested again...or something like that

ReplyDeleteI want to see Lindsay do a remake of the Lucille Ball made for tv movie, "The Stone Pillow".
ReplyDeleteMisch, you're right of course. I just looked her up and Doris is living in Carmel by the Sea. Nice choice.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Shannen Doherty, I have been watching Charmed on netflix lately. What is the deal with her leaving the show? I read that there was supposed to have been drama on set. Anyone want to fill me in on the details? Thanks. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe she'll be good in the ET movie, but my hope is that this will be "Valley of the Dolls" kind of bad. That movie has given me years of viewing pleasure - the miscasting, the overacting, the bad acting... But then maybe it'll just be unwatchable. My bet is it won't happen. She doesn't seem to have the discipline to make another movie just yet. Any movie made about ET is going to pale in comparison in every way to the real thing, unless it's a small slice of her life like that "Marilyn" movie that just came out.
ReplyDeleteBut when you get down to it Lindsay is this generation's Dana Plato. I know she thinks she's Marilyn or Liz but comparing her Jennifer Love Hewitt (and her made-for-TV-Audrey Hepburn portrayal) would be generous and Dana Plato the most accurate.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you.
DeleteIm trying to be positive. Maybe Lindsay will do awesome and can make a comeback. *naive*
ReplyDeletewhoever created the lifetime channel should be lined up and at least squirted with a super soaker. they are a plague on humanity.
ReplyDeleteMother May I Sleep with Danger.

@EmEyeKay - Maybe Lindsay is playing OLD Liz.
ReplyDeleteDoris Day doesn't deserve the Lindsay treatment anymore than Liz does. Leave her out of it!
@Elenor Rigby - apparently they all got along at first, then Shannon and Alyssa had some sort of falling out - probably because they were fighting for screen time. The girl who played Piper was caught in the middle because she got along with everyone, and was good friends with Doherty, but it got so bad they eventually let her go. Yeah - I used to be a big 'Charmed' fan after my friend loaned me all of her DVD's.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand someone who has so many chances at a great career but instead, continually shoots themselves in the foot with their bad behavior. I think she's probably bipolar. Has to be!
@Madlyb, Thank you so much! I am in season 3 now. I used to watch Charmed for the first few seasons when it was on originally, but season 3 and on is all new to me.
DeleteI want to not like Shannen Doherty, but I can't help it, haha. I think girl has had some issues, that's for sure.
Have you noticed that in the Education Connection commercial that her teeth are different? She got those horse veneers that she had during Charmed removed and she looks so much better. Natural teeth look way better than big fake teeth. (Hillary Duff, I'm looking at you!)
Don't forget the classic "Mother, May I Sleep with Danger?"
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the classic "Mother, May I Sleep with Danger?"
ReplyDeletesadly Lifetime made it official today. Claiming the role was "always for Lindsay" barf.
ReplyDeleteBut they did take some backhand digs saying (paraphrashing) becuase Lindsay's life was such a clusterfuck she could relate to Liz and her drama.
I know it's wrong but I'm hoping for a major trainwreck.
ReplyDeleteI finally saw Valley of the Dolls, wow that was terrible. The scene where Patty Duke describes her breakdown gave my husband and me so much to mock.
I guess Lindsay is getting comfy in the made for tv genre, maybe shes remeniscing about her pre-Machete masterpiece Labour Pains. I didnt even bother to download that one, I got the gist of it thru the endless photo ops courtesy of X17.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I highly doubt that this movie will be made with her as Liz. Linda Lovelace? Didnt happen with her. Gotti? Was that even for real? Unless they cater to her every need and allow her to be as inebriated as she need to be to funtion in a social enviroment.. Then maybe this will happen, but I wouldnt stake my name on it.
I am in full support of Lindsay in this roll *if* it means someone will color her hair dark brown.
ReplyDeleteLindsay, your bleach blond hair makes you look like TRASH.
Enty, you mention the fact that this is a Lifetime movie in every post about this movie.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Labor Pains was supposed to be for TV. I haven't seen it but I am guessing it ended being shit and they couldn't justify it coming out on the big screen.
What's up with Lifetime and Room 23 alumni? HaydenP Amanda Knox, and now Lindsay and Liz Taylor.

ReplyDeleteRosie O'Donnell rocks. That is all.
I think Lindsay would be great for "Showgirls 2"
ReplyDeleteOh for shame on you Lifetime!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember if it aired on Lifetime, but there was a piece of crap starring Crystal Bernard and Traci Lords that was just god-awful. It was about Crystal Bernard switching identities with Traci Lords, so Traci Lords could get medical treatment. Then, Traci Lords ended up dead, and Crystal Bernard was on the run and trying to figure out what the hell happened.
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, my half-assed description is better than the movie itself.
That sounds awesome!!!!!
Delete@parissucks - she didn't pull any punches, did she? Wow. Love that she says whatever she wants, does NOT care.
ReplyDeleteLL changed her Twitter profile pic to one from her Liz Taylor-esque photoshoot.
@shaun, there already is a "Showgirls 2". Rena Riffel "Penny" in the original wrote, directed and star in the sequel. It's a masterpiece! ;) She actually made the whole thing for 30. 000 $. If Lindsay had drive like that she wouldnt have to star in direct to tv movies, she would have the world at her feet.
ReplyDeleteHeres "Showgirls 2" for your pleasure http://youtu.be/WLaf5yflcVE
don't forget about jennifer love hewitt's unforgettable portrayal of audrey hepburn - these things are always good for a laugh. what's next, paris hilton portraying grace kelly?
ReplyDeleteThey should build a robot version of Lilo as a backup. For the face they can use the same synthetic fibers she had surgically implanted in place of her birth face over the last several years. Nobody will be the wiser & the robot will be on time ready to work every day.
ReplyDeleteLifetime movies are one of my guilty pleasures. "Death of a Cheerleader".....classic. The casting has to be someone you love to hate though, not someone who looks like they should be licking the bathroom floor at Tittay Express for leftover coke particles.
ReplyDelete@rejectedcarebear: "What happened to Yasmine Bleethe?"
ReplyDeleteShe had a MAJOR coke/meth problem and her mugshot/s are HORRIFYING. I agree she was sooooooo beautiful but threw it all away. Probably cracked out in some corner somewhere.
I will now pop over to see that Rosie clip (thank you).

ReplyDeleteLiz is rolling in her grave and Roddy McDowell is having a huge hissy fit!!
ReplyDeleteI Made For TV Love You!
ReplyDeleteYasmin Bleeth as Scarface is a classic, but the one that made the greatest impression on me was "Death Of A Cheerleader": Tori Spelling's mean, haughty head cheerleader character gets killed by Kellie Martin.

The thought of Parisite playing Grace Kelly literally made me swallow my vomit.
my favorite cheese title is tori's, "mother may i sleep with danger". i can't even say it out-loud w/o laughing.
ReplyDelete@EleanorRigby (9:19 AM) -
ReplyDeleteShannen Doherty is a BAMF! Never thought much of her in the early 90's, but looking back she was a pretty amazing force of nature.
"...someone who looks like they should be licking the bathroom floor at Tittay Express for leftover coke particles." Congratulations, this is now my absolutely favorite description of LiLo!
ReplyDelete"Mother, May I Sleep with Danger" was hands-down the best Lifetime movie. Tori had a horrible haircut that accentuated all of the unfortunate aspects of her face, and this super-hot guy was (of course) totally obesessed with her. Uh huh. "Death of a Cheerleader," which also included the mad skillz of Ms. Spelling, was fun, too.
I'll bet you anything LiLo does not complete this project because she f*cks up again and the production company winds up suing her. Can you imagine what the professional insurance premiums are on her?
I'm glad you liked it, Texshan! I laughed a little while typing it. It's hard to feel sorry for her so I don't.
ReplyDeleteHayden P would be much better in this role. She even looks a bit like Elizabeth Taylor. They have the same beautiful face.
ReplyDeleteWhat other actresses did Lindsay beat out for this role, is what I want to know.
ReplyDeleteIt's def. a step up from Labor Pains.
Good grief, kathrynnova, don't even say that out loud. Some one will decide to do just that movie. Yipes.
ReplyDeleteToday's papers say Lilo wants Gerard Butler to play Burton. That's actually not a bad idea, but if they're hiring Lilo to play Liz, it's a safe bet the producers can't afford Butler.
