Your Turn

So, your significant other comes to you and says they killed someone. Could be the past, could be now. Stay with them? Turn them in if it happened now?

  2. I think it's hard to say without specifics.

That guy in Michigan came off as beyond batshit crazy in the interview. I'm surprised the wife didn't cotton on to that much earlier.

  4. Too complex of a question. If my husband killed someone, it would have been for a damn good reason. He is such a tender, good man that I would stick by him. It isn't in his make-up to hurt someone.

  5. I'd make him give me all the details- who, what, where, why. I know my fiance pretty well, and if he killed someone there would probably have been a good reason for it. We'd work through it together. On the other hand, if it was particularly heinous I'd leave him, and maybe tell the authorities if i feared for my life.
**My answer is hypothetical, this kind of scenario is also very circumstantial. People never know how they're really going to act when a serious situation arises.

  6. Sorry. Hell no I wouldn't stay with them. I might turn him in too. Who kills someone? And when will he kill me?!

  7. With @Ms Cool as well.

  8. Turn him in (I've NEVER had the remote for myself and I want to know what it's like!)

  9. regardless of the circumstances, I'd have him turn himself in... depending on the situation, I'd stay by his side though out the court process, then most likely the marriage would end if he was found guilty of a crime. Self defense is the only way I can see us surviving. I could never cover for him. It's been 29 years and I love him dearly, but no... won't cover for him. Got to be accountable and face the consequences.

  10. Find out wth happened. Then turn him in. No use both parents going to jail.

  11. I would turn him in, but may stand by him depending upon the circumstances. Is he mentally ill? Did he kill a child? Too many variables, but I would lean towards supporting him until I heard all the details.

  12. Several months back, my husband and I came out of some store and there was this foul smell in the parking lot. We made some fart jokes, and some poop jokes, and the I said "maybe there's a dead body in one of these trunks!".

"No", said my husband with a serious look on his face "dead bodies don't smell like this".

    K.

I really don't know what I'd do...I think I'd probably try to talk him into turning himself in.

  13. Leave the relationship
Turn the person in but try to support them

  14. the first thing I'd ask is "where did you put the body?"

  15. Depends on if it was akin to manslaughter, some type of accident. The only way I can see staying with them is if it was something like that - an past issue with alcohol or drugs where they may have caused an accident in which someone was killed. As long as those problems are resolved. I still just can't really being comfortable with that though.

It really creeps me out and makes me curious about those people whose spouses end up being serial killers and they say "I never saw any signs or suspected" ....the heck, how do you miss things like that. Either some people don't interact/talk much or they are just scarily good at hiding it and appearing normal.

  16. If that person knows you know then you are always at risk as a target. Sorry, I would get the hell out and turn him in. If the circumstances were justified, I might stick by him, but if he just killed someone just because. I would go in hiding.

  17. Most serial killers are male and loners, so there are no others by definition.

Jeffrey Dahmer had a naked guy/victim run out of his apartment screaming, and his neighbors were like "the gayz - they're so crazy."

  18. remember on Seinfeld?

Jerry: "What kind of friend are you turning me in?"
Kramer" "Well what kind of person goes around killing people?"

I'd totally turn someone in. It would be for our own good. That guilt must kill a person and that was not a pun. Literally kill you inside keeping a secret like that. And I'd never put that burden on a loved one expecting them to go through life struggling not to slip up. When you keep a secret you better not be a drinker!

  19. I'd need more details, but I would probably turn him in, yes.

  20. hahaha, about 13 years ago I told the guy I was dating that I killed someone. He's still believes it to this day. I have not killed anyone yet, but you never know.

  21. If it were my husband I'd turn him in. Even if it were self-defense, it still needs to be settled legally. Having said that, I can't imagine my husband doing anything like that. Although he has said that if anyone murdered me or his daughter, he'd kill the person himself and then turn himself into the police.

  22. A guy I knew in high school was dating an acquaintance of mine. His name was the same as a large tobacco company. His father was living with the mother of another classmate. The second guy disappeared, and because it was a troubled family people thought he just ran away. Cigarette name guy went to a party with his girlfriend. He got wasted and told everyone at the party that he has killed Bill and thrown him in a pond. Everyone thought he was kidding. He wasn't. Girlfriend is the one who called the cops.

  23. I hate to say it, but I would turn him in. I love my hubby very much, but if he killed someone, that would reveal something in his character that I can't support. Funny thing is, I have a feeling my hubby wouldn't want me to lie for him...

  24. After giving it maybe five minutes of thought: I'd get them to turn themselves in. I wouldn't want to be part of the coverup. I'd also want some time to figure out if I wanted to be with a murderer.

The bottom line is, I wouldn't want to be looking over my shoulder for the rest of my life (for cops or a psycho partner).

  26. It would really depend on the circumstances.

  29. confession is good for the soul

  30. I would have to hear the story first.

  31. @Me: I'm with ya. It would totally depend upon who and why. If he had killed someone he'd caught molesting a child or torturing an animal, I'd pat him on the back and say "Good job, honey!".

  32. My husband is a lovely man, wonderful husband, great dad and grandfather. If he killed someone it would be in self-defense or protecting his family, he'd drive to the police station to confess..

  33. * while protecting his famiy.

  34. My other half carries, so if he did kill someone then it most definitely was in self-defense.

  35. I'd have to figure out how to pretend I was on his side. Otherwise, he could have reason to kill me now, too. Oh thanks for putting me in this awful dangerous position, enty. If I get out of this room alive I'm calling the police and have them arrest both of you!
