  3. In most countries, prostitution is illegal so that men can abuse and mistreat sex workers with impunity. If it's against the law, a prostitute can be cheated, beaten, raped or whatever, all because the sex workers are afraid to go to the police. Ah, what a difference legalization makes! Those Secret Service gents no longer had a victimizable victim.

  4. @Barton - excellent point! I have been saying it for years - legalize it!

  5. @Vicki - me, too. Shocked.

OT - The internet is boring me this morning. (I know that says more about me than the internet.)

  7. @ Barton if it were legalized, do you think they'd form a union? Get 401(k) & health insurance like in Night Shift? lol

  8. Amber, in other countries, that is indeed what happens. Why not do it here?

  9. They would also get tested regularly and have a better quality of life. See what it is like in certain towns in Nevada, where it is legal already.

<-- another person in favor of legalization

  11. Beth - it's not a terrible idea. That and legalizing marijuana. The gov't is missing out on tax revenue by not legalizing. Assuming prostitution as that individuals only source of income, they're certainly not paying any income tax. As "free" as the US claims to be, they certainly seem to have a firm grip on the puritanical ideals that came over on the Mayflower.

  13. Personally, even though I agree the Secret Service agent(s) who wouldn't pay are @@@holes, she should find another line of work.
She violated the Golden Rule: Get the money up front! She's not a very good hooker. Now she's angling for a nude photo spread and big $$ so she'll do OK.

  14. Team Barton.

    Let's legalize prostitution!!!

For those opposed please remember sex workers are amongst the most voiceless and powerless on our planet.
And I'm alllll for being a voice for the voiceless.

  15. Add me to the Legalize Prostitution Bandwagon. It has been around forever. It isn't going away. The only victims in this "crime" are the prostitutes themselves. The police bully them and confiscate their money, while the pimps are never arrested and often beat the women when they get out of jail for being arrested. These women need the protection of legality and most cities in this country could use the tax revenue.

  17. Agree with Barton. Legalize and stop arresting the prostitutes when we all know if it weren't for demand there would be no supply.

  18. Team Barton as well. However, I fear we may be looking at the Colombian Kim Kardashian. Que loco!

  19. Prostitution is legal in Columbia. She was an(un)paid escort.

maybe reserve judgement for the toothless crackheads, it would be much more gratifying to demean those women than one who is legally employed in her native country.

  21. It is a proven scientific fact that an excited male's blood rushes from his brain to his nether parts, thus, making him "stupid". Not a real shocker, there.

  24. It doesn't make sense for it to be illegal in the first place.

Early Australian law made it a crime for a man to profit from a prostitutes earnings, thereby removing the pimp factor from the equation.

Women (and men) generally aren't prostitutes because they want to get their sexy on, it's a valid way for an uneducated woman to make really good money. We owe them support, healthcare, and a little compassion.
