George Clooney Was Intended Target Of Oscar Ashes Thrown By Sacha Baron Cohen
Yesterday morning on his radio show, Ryan Seacrest said that Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen apologized to Ryan over the weekend when they saw him at SNL. The reason for the apology? Back at the Oscar's, Ryan got doused by ashes thrown by Sacha as his character The Dictator. Ryan almost started crying because his hair was all out of place and his suit was possibly ruined and his hair was out of place and no one ever takes him seriously anyway. Well, Sacha told Ryan that the original plan was to throw the ashes on George Clooney but because he had multiple nominations and might not have a replacement tux handy that Ryan should be the victim. I say great choice. Although, part of me would have liked to have seen George keep his calm and if he could do it or if he would have gone ballistic.

Ryan did not cry. He handled it very well. Not a fan, but really. Not what happened.
Embarrassing Ryan Seacrest isn't really much but embarassing George Clooney could be career suicide.
George Clooney thinks so highly of himself that he would have gone ballistic. And so would have everyone else because Clooney is, like...you know, so perfect and wonderful and almost a god. Cohen should have gone for it. Now THAT would have been a brave thing to do.
I think Seacrest was a better choice because the whole world was watching. As for how he handled it, I watched it in real time and I really think he did his best.
Aside from the Kurse of the Kardashians, I really am a big Seacrest fan.
Speaking of the Kardashians, in the trailer for Cohen's new Great Dictator movie there's a scene with Cohen and Megan Fox (playing herself) on a hotel bed & he is handing her diamonds & rubies, etc as payment for services. He asks her something that implies she is a prostitute & she says "What do think I am? A Kardashian?"
Is there ANYONE who thought that anything about that stunt would have been/was funny? Pathetic methinks. Yawn.

@nunaurbiz The only thing that would have been funny about this stunt would have been if Sacha Baron Cohen's victim had turned around and beaten that untalented unfunny piece of garbage senseless if not to the edge of death.
I was watching this on E when it happened and I didn't think Ryan seemed to get that upset--sure it was a shock but he pulled himself together pretty quick and got back to business.
It was a stupid stunt--and I think Sascha was kind of a tool to pull it on him. In the end it didn't do a darn thing for his movie.
i see isla fisher ever so often...she seems so grounded, very doting mom, gracious to people...and i can't help but wonder when her breaking point will be. sasha is always 'on'...that's got to get old, and is surely wearisome for her. a separation announcement wouldn't surprise me at all.
He is wearing thin, that one. The first movie was funny. Nothing so far since has been funny from him.
Well I loved Andy Kaufman, so a comedian who skates at the edge between comedy & performance art appeals to me. And the Oscar stunt was all in service of the line he shouted as security hauled him away: "And if somebody asks you who you are wearing, tell them it's Kim Jong Ill".
Should have thrown them on "The Leg."
Entertainment in the year 2012! People holding their breath to see which semi-talent is physically assaulted by which other semi-talent. And how thoughtful to hold off on dumping dirt all over one guy because he might get an award and be on camera momentarily as opposed to the other guy who has to be on camera for hours as part of his job. Makes total sense to me. Not.
Actually, this just makes me feel badly for Ryan Seacrest. I'd cry too if I had to interview this bunch of potato heads for a living. Yes, he's a joke, but I have to respect that he works hard.

For once a comedian who commits to a role and doesnt phone it in (cough Everybody Loves Raymond, cough) and also thinks outside the box.
Even if this type of comedy isnt your cup of tea, IMO this dudes talent is genius and very avant-garde.
And once again, as many pointed out in the previous post regarding this- Seacrest is a multi-millionaire. Feeling super sorry for a dude cause his several thousand dollar Burberry suit got ruined isnt worth it.
To me this was another self-important celeb (hard working or not ya know he is)getting pranked back to Earth. Big deal.

CarolMR - what you've heard of George is what everyone thinks of him. I know a couple people who've had dealings with George that say he is a wonderful person. And I've never read of anyone saying anything bad about him. Hell, he even lets his "girlfriends" down gently.

I didn't think that stunt was funny at all. I don't have any like or dislike for Ryan Seacrest, I just felt like the guy is on camera, doing his job the way he's supposed to be doing it, and that "stunt" was rude and uncalled for. If anything, I felt admiration for the way Seacrest handled it. I'm sure he wanted to go ballistic, but he didn't...at least not while the cameras were rolling.

I'm not in favor of trying to humiliate anyone on camera at a red carpet event just for your own bit of hype.
He was on The Daily Show last night and he brought out those hot models/bodyguards with him. I don't know how they manage to keep themselves from cracking up. There was a few moments where it looked like that dark haired one was about to lose it.
I really REALLY don't get why anyone thinks anyone on the planet dressed to the nines (to attend or host or cover the Oscars, or go to a wedding, whatever) is obligated to just take it and smile and be a good sport about someone throwing crap all over you and ruining the outfit. (And Ryan was 100 percent professional about it -- something extraordinarily difficult to be in that situation.)
It was STAGED, celebrities don't surprise one another like this, as some mentioned above, it's technically assault and gags aren't good if someone gets punched, so lighten up everyone he knew.......
Sasha was on Howard Stern this morning. It wasn't staged and Sasha sent Ryan a new jacket and apologized. It was a great interview.
Sasha doesn't play the hollywood game like the others. He doesn't care if you are famous or not and want to be friends.
I do not find this guy funny at all. He mocked God, Apostolics, as well as many other religions, in Borat. Seems like blasphemy to me. You reap what you sew. What he did to Ryan was not funny and I think Ryan handled it better than anyone I know would have.
Sparkles knew *something* was going to happen with Sacha, but he didn't know what exactly was going to happen. I watched it live also and Ryan was PISSED OFF - and rightfully so in my opinion. He truly handled the whole thing like a champ, 100% professional despite being pissed. I'm not a fan of Sparkles and I'm not at all a fan of Kim Kardashian, but I CAN'T STAND to see a stunt like this where something is dumped on someone. I feel like it's bullying and crass. Sparkles was just working. I would be so mad if someone did this to me at my job.
