Victoria Beckham Forgot Her Son - Drives Herself?

It appears that Victoria Beckham does sometimes drive herself. I always thought she had someone do it for her. Has anyone ever seen a photo of her driving herself at any time? She told Vanity Fair that recently she she left behind her son Brooklyn on a school run.

"I jumped in my Range Rover, put the car seat in (for daughter Harper), put my iPod on and drove to school. And then I realized I’d left Brooklyn in the kitchen! I was driving along, talking away, and all of a sudden, I looked down at the seat, and I was like: "S**t! S**t! I’ve forgot something. Harper was in the car, I was in the car, and we were on the way to school – but we did not have the child who needed to go to school."

I do like how Victoria does try to pretend she is normal. You know, with the cookie baking and things like that. I really don't see her driving though. That's the part that makes me wonder. Of course the story doesn't sound as good or heartwarming if you say my staff loaded everyone in the car and were driving me and I realized they forgot to get Brooklyn too.

  1. I believe it. We've all done something like that, rich or poor or in between. :)

  4. I got all the way to school with a kid who had forgotten to put on shoes!

My mom never forgot me anywhere but I was a serious wanderer which caused a whole other set of panic. I like Posh. For whatever reason she doesn't rub me the wrong way. I just wish she wasn't so obsessed with her body.

  8. i have never forgotten my baby but i only have one! It happens!

  9. I believe her - they have four kids (hectic!) and they seem to be very involved parents.

The reason you don't see her driving is probably because she doesn't call the paps everytime she leaves the house.

  10. While this soulds endearing and all, it's dangerous to listen to an iPod while driving, especially with children in the car. (well, with the earbuds in, that is)

"We" (meaning real people) are supposed to be able to hear the road noises around us for safety reasons there, Shoog.

  11. @DianaofThemyscira My little brother was a wanderer, too. He could disappear faster than you'd think a toddler could move. Luckily, we lived out in the country on a road without much traffic, or he could have gotten hurt or snatched. Thankfully, he grew out of that phase, but for about two years, we had to keep our house and backyard on lockdown!

  12. She probably means plugging it in the car and listening, not with ear-buds. New cars have an iPod jack.

@RJ I still wander and it still drives my mother nuts. My friends and especially my boyfriend hate it too. I just can't stay in one place.

  15. Yeah, Range Rovers have an iPod dock. My SUV has a dock, but can also play it through the bluetooth.

It's annoying that people criticize VB/other celebs for doing "normal" things with their children because it MUST be a set-up. These people probably baked cookies and played games with their own parents as children. God forbid the thought that VB might actually have a maternal bone or 5 in her body. Oh, the horror!

  16. Yup, you can plug your ipod into the car now-a-days. My friend has a Ford with this feature.

I never forgot a kid, but did take them to school on the first day of Christmas break one year. I kept insisting they had school that day and realized my error when we pulled in and the lot was empty and all the shades were pulled down. Oopsies!

  17. of all of the celebrity couples with children, she and her husband seem to truly love and cherish their children. that is a breath of fresh air.

  18. ha that is pretty funny, and I agree with what a lot of you have already said...when you have kids, that kind of thing can happen and its a sign of normalcy in their life. Their kids do always seem very happy, smiling - their parents, well, father is always seen kissing or hugging them. She can't be a horrible mom in my book.

  19. Plus, kudos to her for driving herself, especially in another country. I would be terrified to drive in Europe -- if I had the money, I'd probably get a driver too. Some people just aren't that great of drivers and should leave it to the pros :-D

  20. Why is it so hard to believe that Vicky may actually DRIVE? Even if I could afford a driver, I wouldn't have one, because I LIKE to DRIVE my CAR.
I don't know what kind of parents they are, but if the pics of Beckham and his kids are any indication, I'd say they're doing just fine. Haven't seen one pic of Becks and the boys that made me want to punch them, unlike you and your son, Will Smith.

This is why I loveeee Posh and David. They are really involved in their childrens' lives. It would be less believable if she was still singing and getting gigs.
Right now I think all she has is the few appearances on shows and her clothing line.
So yes, she is very involved with her kids. Quit hatin' on her.
And who was that one guy that was seen in an airport dropping off his girlfriend in his 1988 something or other? Celebs can be normal!

  22. I think she really does drive her boys to school and spends time with them. I could totally see this happening.

  23. This is starting to feel like a personal vendetta. ;)

I love Posh, she is hilarious. She doesn't like to smile in pictures because she hates her smile. That doesn't mean she is a bitch, it means she is normal and has hang ups like we all do. She might have food/weight issues but that doesn't make her a bad parent. I think from what we see, she and David are one the best sets of celebrity parents. Their kids are always with them, always happy, and always being shown affection by their parents.

  24. I know this may come as a shock to you, but she is a real live person. She actually does drive her child to school and volunteers. As for the whole leaving the kid behind, it happens to a lot of parents at least once. Not that big of a deal.

  25. I don't think she's all that pretty, but I like her designs and she comes across as likable to me.

  27. I swear I've seen photos of VB driving. I like her. She seems very normal and down to earth. On her reality show, she showed a wicked sense of humor, and an awareness of how absurd Hollywood is. In every photo of her or her hubby with the kids, the kids seems happy and -- well, like kids. No pretensiousness or entitlement attitudes in this bunch. The Beckhams seem to put family first. I DO think that he has cheated on her, but she seems to turn a blind eye and accept it for the sake of the kids. I also think she took a break from things for a bit, but she is back to nurturing her family. This is a woman who has let her own career take a back seat so they could have a big family and DB can milk his own (limited time) playing career. Hopefully she gets her chance to shine once he retires.

  28. Posh is wickedly funny, and I bet she does drive her kids to school. I sure wish she'd stop with the starving routine, that will definitely impact her girl.

  29. I've seen several pap pictures of her driving herself.

  30. Does Victoria Beckham ever smile? I mean, I know it has become a Thing. But still, is she chronically depressed? Has someone suggested meds? For the life she has and the hunk she's humping, you'd think she'd have a permasmile. It's very weird if you ask me, and you didn't...

  31. I cannot hate on the Beckhams- they seem like involved and engaged parents when it comes to their family which is more than we can say about half of Hollywood.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I wonder if the fact that she shills for Range Rover influenced her saying that she was driving?

    ReplyDelete
  33. McSpanky, I read somewhere that she thinks her teeth look weird or something along those lines.

I don't hate her. This story doesn't have a GOOP "I'm just like you, but not and better" vibe to it. I also love Harper's outfit.

  34. I don't know why but I kind of like her. Also, I LOVE that baby girl.

    ReplyDelete
  35. She doesn't smile in photos on purpose. If you see her in any video, she is very funny and doesn't come off as depressed. She laughs, she jokes, she smiles, and she's happy.

David can be funny too. He has done a few pranks on Ellen before and they are hilarious, especially the one where he is working undercover at Target in the cologne section.

  36. Yes, the mention of Range Rover was deliberate. Victoria 'designed' the Range Rover Evoque, which is pretty cool and even the lads on Top Gear liked it. She works hard and keeps the whole family circus going - like a normal mum. I think she's OK.

  37. After I mentioned them, I ended up re-watching the Ellen clips. I'm posting the links in case anyone else wants to watch.

  38. I like Posh and David and the kids. They seem like normal people - just with extra money.

  39. I'm sorry - but I think she's adorable. She appears to be a good mom, and I've seen her in interviews and she comes off very sweet. She's a bit too thin but aren't they all in Hollywood?

  40. This just sounds like Mommy Brain to me. I'll bet it happens a lot!

  41. i like how her cupcakes looked like how mine would've turned out. I also like that her kids adored her & Becks.

    Very un-Goop-like.

But she needs to eat one or three of her own cupcakes.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Maybe this actually happened to HER or maybe it didn't. I'm suspicious because she recently "designed" a Range Rover.

Not a fan of the Beckhams.

  43. @Rose, OMG, those are hilarious! Thank you!

  44. Er, hate to bust the bubble here, but I don't think she's very nice at all. One day a friend of mine was walking down the street in NYC when, in his words, some "anorexic, angry bird-looking woman" screamed at him to "Get the f#@k out of my way!" as he was walking by. It took him another half a block to realize it was Victoria Beckham, walking with David. Maybe she's a good mother, but "normal" "down-to-earth" "nice" - not so much.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love them they are as close to normal as a celebrity family can get.

They are also a marketing juggernaut and like others above, I agree it's all about getting Range Rover in the press.
