Dylan McDermott's Mother Was Murdered

Back in 1967, Dylan McDermott's mother died. Police at the time ruled her death an accident when she was shot. Kind of how like Kelly Preston accidentally shot herself while hanging out with Charlie Sheen. After Dylan started asking some questions last year, police reopened the investigation and have determined that Dylan's mom was murdered by her gangster boyfriend. Murder charges would have been forthcoming against the murderer, but he was killed in a parking lot in 1972 and his body found in a car trunk. He had been in the mafia. Excuse me. Organized crime.

  1. I wonder if they would have been as willing to reopen the investigation if Dylan weren't famous...

    1. That comment is based on nothing but the fact he is famous. I wonder if you would have asked this if he weren't famous? His mother was murdered, do you have to be so cynical?

  4. How old was he when this happened? He had to be a kid then. Hopefully, this brings some closure for him.

  5. He was 5 years old and told the police about the fights wth the murderer pointing a gun at the mom or Dylan telling him to get the eff out of there. I read a more detailed story on another site I forgot which but this'll be everywhere today. Poor guy!

  8. I'm sure somebody on the police force & in the prosecutors office at the time was taking money from the mob.

    1. When Kelly Preston was engaged to Charlie Sheen a very long time ago. Needless to say the engagement did not last after that incident.

  10. Good that he got some closure, but my mind visualized Dermot Mulroney. I always mix those two up.

  11. Agent Funny you should say that. The Daily Mail (haha I know) article I read on this story reported that this John Sponza boyfriend had connections to law enforcement through his father and that he might have been a police informant also. Not to mention the fact that Ms McDermott was right handed and the wound was to the left-hand side back of her head. Just awful.

  13. This reminds me of James Ellroy (the true crime writer) and his mother's murder...

  15. that is so sad that he lost his mother at such a young age and that she was murdered. apparently he credits eve ensler, who I believe was his father's girlfriend, with encouraging him to become an actor. he had a very sad childhood, I read a piece on it a while ago.

  16. Where the heck was the photographer standing when he shot that photo? What a weird angle, like he's standing on a stepladder.

  19. I read about this sad story when Dylan was starring on The Practice. His mom's name was Diane Marino. The article implied that her death was either suicide or drug-related. After his mom died, he was raised by her mother until his dad was able to care for him.

Just because you are around someone like that doesnt mean you deserve to have something like this happen.
