Happy Anniversary - Let's Get Divorced

It was bound to happen. Eventually David Arquette was going to find someone he wanted to be with and then finally file those divorce papers to end things with Courteney Cox. I just think it was really bad timing to hang on to them for three months in your pocket and file them on your anniversary. OK, so a few days before the actual anniversary of June 12th since he filed them on Friday, but close enough. He had signed them back in March. David has always said he wanted to reconcile, but he is the one who went to the trouble of preparing the documents, not Courteney. I hope this doesn't mean he is just going to run out and get married now. It was smart of him to escape to Israel for a few days while this news broke.

  1. I think David has done a lot of growing up over the last year. It was time to move on. This way they can both have closure. They share a child they will always be in each others lives.

  2. I doubt he even noticed his anniversary.

  3. Not just their anniversary, but three days before her 48th birthday too. Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday! Get lost!

  4. Oh please, she kicked him to the curb a long time ago. He did nothing wrong by filing the papers.

  7. Didn't they get matching ring tatoos saying something to the affect of divorce isn't an option?

  8. @RenoBlondee - They didn't get tattoos, but rather had the inscription, "A deal's a deal" on the inside of their wedding bands.

I guess this deal, um, wasn't one?

  9. Filing on your anniversary, the day before your daughter's birthday, and three days before your soon-to-be-official ex's birthday sounds like an asshole move because it is an asshole move. No matter what the circumstances, he could have waited a week after all this time.

  10. Well, if it weren't so far off I would have divorce papers delivered right on our anniversary. He never remembered it and thought it was no big deal. I think it would be the perfect present to myself.

  11. I dunno, if I were Courteney, I'd consider this a birthday/anniversary GIFT, and a good one at that. This guy's always been an immature asshat, she's no doubt thrilled to move on to the next step.

  13. I tend to agree with you, figgy. She ALWAYS seemed SO much more together than him, and I could never understand it. Ms. Cox is moving on, moving on, I hope...

  15. I dunno, I don't think either of them are too bothered... They get along, they still spend time together and he even guest starred on the season finale of her show this year. They have both dated other people and it's probably just time to make it official, and yah it probably was difficult for him because he still cares about her but I don't see any malicious intent in it.

I'm actually pretty disappointed. I always hoped these two crazy kids would work it out.

  18. It's his show also, it's their production company together.

  19. I get the feeling that she controls most things between them....it may have been a passive aggressive move on his part

I still like both of them

  20. Maybe he waited hoping to work things out. If Courteney didn't want to celebrate their anniversary, he knew they wouldn't get back together.

  21. I filed my divorce papers just a couple days before Valentine's Day and if everythibng works out my divorce should finalized right around his birthday and our anniversary. I can't think of a better present - for ME!

  22. I filed for my divorce on Valentine's Day! I didn't even notice until the clerk told me it was a popular day to file.

I'm more curious about what happened between Jen and Courtney. They were the real couple. They do not seem to be as close. I wonder if this divorce will bring them closer.

I remember this wedding because it was at Grace Cathedral in my home town of San Francisco. Back then we bet it would be less than five years for these too. It was a hell of a big wedding and all the Friends were there.
