Justin Bieber Thinks He Is British

Do you know how The Goopster and Madonna and even Angelina Jolie like to pretend they are British and somehow start speaking with a British accent to make themselves feel superior? Well, I don't think Justin Bieber was trying to do that, but he did give an entire interview to Capital FM in the UK while using a British accent. At least he is Canadian so is in the Commonwealth. His accent was funny for about 20 seconds and then you expect him to stop, but he just keeps going and going.

  1. When can we be done with him? Not.Soon.Enough.

  2. Madonna had a good pretext:she lived long time in England

    1. It was less pretext and more likely pretension in Madge's case.

  6. I used to work with this really obnoxious girl and every time she was on a call with France, instead of trying to speak French (which she claimed to be fluent in), she would just speak English, but use a French accent. The people in France must have died laughing each time they got off the phone with her.

  7. LOL at your story @Cathy

  8. I will admit that when I visit my family in England, when I talk on the phone with them, and heck sometimes even when my mom and I talk to each other I will kind of pick up the accent. And then I catch myself and realize how stupid I sound and immediately stop.

  9. @JSierra, I have relatives in England also, and the same thing involuntarily starts happening to me too if the accent is all I hear for a long enough period of time. I think it's caused by the subconscious influencing us to 'speak their language'.

  10. I hate to defend Bieber but the interviewer does say right at the beginning 'promise me you'll speak like the the whole interview' think people need to lay off the guy, jeez.

  11. @Cathy, that's hilarious.

@Sian, yeah, the interviewer did say that but JB is still a smug tool.

I get spending a lot of time somewhere and picking up slight inflections like changing emphasis on a syllable or going down in emphasis at the end of a question, we're mimics. JB is just a douche. I stopped watching after he talked of losing his Rolex.

  12. I think it's funny. I can't believe he stuck with it the whole time. That's commitment to the joke.

  13. This is Justin practicing to be an academy award winning actor one day.

God this kid is ignorant. I can't stomach this.

Douchebag. Geez, I hate this kid. And he looks like a cow chewing on cud, chomping on his gum all of the time. If I had three wishes, I think one of them would be for this wanker to disappear forever in the wilds of Yukon Territory.

  15. Yeah...but he's 17 and stupid. Madonna is in her 50's and Gwynnie is 40.

  16. Aw c'mon. People will soak up an accent subconsciously, especially if they're trying to ingratiate themselves with the person they're talking to. Leave le beav alooone.
    Just kidding.

He didn't need to do it, he's still a kid yes, but he's an obnoxious spoiled little twit, which is why everyone over the age of eighteen can't stand him.

  18. I thank whomever every single day that this is not my kid.

  19. I lived in England for two and a half years and never once tried to adopt their accent. They had American accented people on the radio that I could always tell were fake and I imagine that is how it sounds to them when reversed no matter how good you think your accent is.

  20. I like to pepper my language with british terms. For example, my eldest and I are trying to bring the term, trainers, to america.

"Fetch me my trainers luv, will ya!"

Ya gotta have fun when ya can!

  21. I think a lot of people love trying to do accents and then get over it soon enough. It can be really fun. I've done Russian, French, Irish accents, probably a few more, at various points in my life, just to myself. But I got stuck using a no doubt TERRIBLE Scottish accent once when I was in my early to mid twenties and it was so hard to shake that it did sneak out of my mouth in front of other people a few times one day when I was running errands. I was horrified and forced myself to just stop immediately.

It is just a bit of harmless fun, really. If it didn't make a person look like a dope, I'd totally still be doing that accent today, when the mood struck.

  22. Pull up your fucking pants and go home, you tool.

  23. i would get bagging on this kid were it not for the fact that the interviewer clearly asks him to do it and keep it up thru entire interview. how does that make him a douche? i say yay him for pulling it off.

  24. @.robert, you're pretty unusual then imo. British terminology has so many different words, expressions, and colloquialisms from the ones we use, that just to converse with them you're practically speaking another language so they understand you. You also have to make a concerted effort to tune into their accent because when they speak at a normal rate, it's too fast for someone not used to it to make sense of. It often times sounded like unintelligible gibberish to me at first.

  25. Ever listen to Gillian Anderson after she's been in England? She was doing interviews with a British accent! In her case she did live in England as a child.

I know a few Brits with good American accents, Andrew Lincoln comes to mind. I was watching Love Actually (what an overrated movie that is!) and it was the first time I heard his regular voice! He is so good in Walking Dead.

  26. It works the other way too. After spending 3 months in the US I came and found myself inadvertently using american terms, slang and spelling.

Funny thing about my accent, in LA often I would be asked to slow down my speech, in New York never a problem.

  28. I'm an unconscious mimic. If I'm around anyone with an accent or a speech pattern, I unconsciously pick it up. It's horrible because it sounds like I'm mimicking them. I had to stop seeing my Scots hairdresser. The worst was when I picked up the speech pattern from the woman whose jaw was wired shut.

  29. Aww, don't make fun of the poor kid's acting. His performance on CSI was definitely Emmy-worthy!

I'm sorry, but that movie was WAY too long and the jokes were too long. I got the aging rock star thing really quick. Boring!

  31. That is another pet peeve of mine--spelling! Lainey is always using the British spelling for words like "honour" and "favour." I know she is a Canadian, but it looks so contrived! All the Canadians I know use the American spelling for those words.

  32. HATE this little rapist turd... may he meet his demise sooner than later.

  33. I'm not a huge Bieber fan, but he is obviously just doing a bit here. English Justin Bieber. If he starts speaking like this all the time, then I'll be "right on" with the db comments.
