Your Turn

Yesterday I chose not to run this photo of Jessica Simpson because I thought it was kind of unfair to only show her from one angle and there were no shots of her from the front so I let it go. I was in the minority though because even Kneepads posted the photo to show that Jessica Simpson is working out. I love curves so she looks great to me. However, there doesn't really seem to be any point to it other than seeing how her workout regimen is going. Should photos like this be used or are they just making fun of the subject?

  1. I think they are making fun of her and how "fat" she is. I see nothing wrong, she gained a ton of weight when pregnant (80 lbs!), she's not BSing about how easy it is to lose, and she's also doing what she can by working out. I can't believe I'm coming to her defense but leave her alone. She may be very stupid but she's harmless.

  2. Honestly, i think she looks pretty good here.

  4. OMG I never realized she is tiny, she must be like 5'2?

  5. She looks fine, but that hair could use some deep conditioning.

  6. Whoever posted it wants you to laugh at her ass size. Whatever assholes, she just had a baby. I'm surprised that Kneepads went there, though. Since their speciality is kissing asses, not making fun of them.

  7. Well she irritates me so any pictures that I can laugh at of her are always welcomed

  8. As a person of size, it doesn't bother me. In fact, I wondered if I looked that good from the back! LOL

  9. I think it's kind of mean. I know, they are celebrities, etc., but I think they also deserve their down and "ugly" time. Those of us who gained a lot of weight with pregnancies can certainly empathize - and we didn't have to deal with paparazzi in the months after our children were born!

That said, bring on the photos of Madonna without makeup that I saw somewhere else today - she is quite deserving of it.

  10. There is a big difference between gaining weight from a pregnancy and just being overweight

It's not easy for anyone at any size to lose weight but when you're petite you can be healthy and work out regularly but carry the weight in such a way that it makes you look really unhealthy and overweight. As a petite person myself, a 5 lb gain is noticeable immediately and 10 lb gain makes me look like I eat bonbons all day. I feel sorry for her for gaining all that fluid b/c that cannot have been easy nor comfortable walking around with for so many months.

This photo was definitely meant to be used to make fun of her but even if she doesn't become skinny minny by Hollywood and fashion standards but maintains an active life and eats right and those are the traits that she passes on to her daughter then that's great. I've always loved that she didn't starve herself just b/c she's petite and every extra ounce shows or b/c the industry wants you to look a certain way. It's more important to be comfortable in your own body than it is to live up to other people's expectations who are just following a stupid trend and often dangerous trend anyway.

  12. Leave Chestica alone. She just had a baby and a C section right? I'm surprised she can even walk much less work out.

  13. Most people don't have a baby and the next day ate a size 2, especially post c-section.

  14. Her hair but not many people puss up to the gym (ok I know some gay men do but it's a photo of Jessica Simpson)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Definitely think they're doing it to make fun of her, but I also think she's going to take off the baby weight and look amazing when she's done. Soooo, great before-and-after shots!

    ReplyDelete
  16. This one will have to have her tummy stapled or whatever that procedure is.....

    ReplyDelete
  17. I don't even get what there is here to make fun of. She doesn't even look fat. She looks fine.

  18. Even though it's been years, the memory of my trying to zip up a pair of jeans a few months after giving birth, is always a bit raw, as was my fingers trying to get that zipper up!!
Leave the poor woman alone, she did what many first time pregnant women do, they think they are free to eat everything. Now she has to work very hard to get it off. There is this unrealistic picture of celebrities losing all their weight within a few weeks.
Bottom line-they are just making fun of her and as a woman, mother and normal weight human being, bite me.

    ReplyDelete
  19. ZOMG! Jessica is a human being? Shocking. Nice to know she didn't just go to a doctor and "lose the pregnancy weight."

    ReplyDelete
  20. i think this is the first time i have ever seen her in sneakers (sans heels)

    ReplyDelete
  21. it is mean, and she does look like a short fat person.

but, people such as jessica crave the spotlight even though the talent is nil. she can sing ok, but she doesn't sing anymore. still craving the spotlight.

that's why she is so wealthy, and had a name to put on her crappy clothing line that makes billions and no doubt the people in third world countries who make the clothing are abused and underpaid. thats not even a question.

    so, no pity for her.

    ReplyDelete
  22. This photo inspired me to coin a new term: reverse camel toe.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I look at Jessica's ankles not her bottom and I think she is doing well. The shot I think is set up to make her look bad.

I feel sorry for the girl. She strikes me as sweet slightly simple girl who is take advantage of so many ways.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ditto the hair comment.

Women do not carry babies in their butts. Her current body type has more to do with her food choices than with being pregnant.

I smell a set-up. I predict there will be a series of unflattering pics in mags that tend to be "nice" to set up her WW contract and some pretty awful after pictures. The worse the "before" the better the after shots will look. Regardless of her results.

    ReplyDelete
  25. That should be "preety awful before pictures" But who knows, the after could be bad too.

Love the reverse camel toe comment.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Definitely making fun of her. She just had a baby. I'm sick and tired of the pressure for women who have babies to starve themselves...or have surrogates do for them(ahem...Beyonce & Nicole K.) and become instantly skinny within a month. Normal women don't lose the weight that quickly. It takes a while to work it off. I hope she takes her time. You go girl.

    ReplyDelete
  27. She's a curvy girl that just had a baby. What is the point of running a photo that doesn't show her pretty face? I don't think she looks half-bad from the back, but again, what's the point?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Weird that Rhianna wants her butt back and people want to make fun of Jessica's butt . @Patty, possibly a lot of truth in your remarks !!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Please, in a few months or so she will lose the weight and then can parade around showing before and after pictures. This is Jessica frickin Simpson so any attention is good attention.

I still think she looks fine.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I wish that was a photo of an Olsen twin.

    ReplyDelete
  31. What is Random Photos part 1, 2 & 3 for if not to make fun of the subjects? Your question is really, is this photo too easy a target. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. The caption writes itself.

    ReplyDelete
  32. it's photos like this that will send her straight to the nip and tuck table.
she's got the dough and prob will at some point.
these starlets should struggle like the rest of us, but won't

    ReplyDelete
  33. It's mean spirited pictures like this that make women feel like shit, the pressure to be thin in the spotlight must be pure hell, no wonder Hollywood is full of starving starlets who have lost sense of what a healthy attractive woman really looks like, women should not have the figure of teenaged boys, they should be curvy.

Jessica has gained a lot of weight after her pregnancy but she's working on it so people should stfu and give her time to shed the weight.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think she looks fine too.
But, I agree that the tabloids are making fun here with that photo. I can picture them sitting around a table, rubbing their hands together gleefully waiting for a bad pap shot of her.

    ReplyDelete
  35. HEY HOW ABOUT WE NOT TALK ABOUT ANYONE ELSE'S BODY. IT'S NONE OF OUR BUSINESS.
If we want the industry or the world to be different, it starts w/ us. And I am vowing to not comment on another woman's body - large or small.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Has it even been 6 weeks since she had the baby? If so, it's BARELY. I'm pretty sure you're not even supposed to think about working out until you hit that mark because it can be really bad for various reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Don't think she looks bad either.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think the fat pics now are part of her weight loss campaign. Is it for Weight Watchers? These pics will make the after pics much more dramatic.

As someone who has millions of dollars and still chose to make money off her baby and then be paid millions to lose the weight, she deserves all pictures good and bad to be displayed. I'm just surprised she didn't take the easy way out and get nipped and tucked.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I feel for her. My baby will be six years old in a few months and I still haven't lost the baby weight... :/

    ReplyDelete
  41. I am still waiting to give birth to my massive college food/beer baby, it should be any day now!
We need to see more curvy women in the media, as much as I am not a fan of the Karcraptian Klan, I absolutely love how they all have curves and show that you don't have to be stick thin to be sexy and beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I personally think this is a lovely, positive picture of a new mother getting fit and healthy, the right way.
I would like to see more of them please.

    ReplyDelete
  43. @Patty, I respectfully beg to differ. You don't "just" gain weight in your tummy when you get pregnant. Many women, especially short ones like myself, do get wider hips, extra weight around the general midsection (belly button to mid-thigh), and it accumulates easier because our bodies are essentially "hoarding" all it can for the baby. So yes, the butt can get wider, less toned, and not as attractive (US standards) due to pregnancy. So she might have indulged while she was pregnant, and probably didn't work out. But we don't know whether she was ordered to not work out; or how her body responded to the pregnancy. I do, however, agree w/you that this might be a WW setup.

It's sad because I have been there and I feel for her--it is really hard to get it off post baby/in your 30s. Kudos to her for hitting the gym exactly 6 weeks after having baby (which is two weeks prior to most doctors' recommendation). The media needs to leave her alone and stop making women feel bad for not looking like Blake Lively. So irritating.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I know it is wrong to make fun of people for their weight or lack thereof, but I do. I generally save it for shitty behaving celebs though.

This bothers me, though, because she just had a baby. Some women gain very little weight and don't even look pregnant. Some get huge. Remember Gwen Stefani, she got big too. I think it is a particular low blow to make fun of a woman who has just given birth.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I dont what the intention was showing the pic, but she looks okay to me. Refreshingly normal- sometimes after u hv a baby, it takes a while for the excess baggage to go away. Kate hudson had same deal after first baby, and I really admired how she still walked the red carpet etc while she was losing to weight. And when asked how she did it, she said, "I worked my ass off!". Refreshingly honest! I wish people wld stop making it that gaining weight is akin to murder. The person gained weight, and unless they are blind, they are perfectly aware of it, so stfu ! Ok, lol, off the soapbox!

I am so sick of the unrealistic image of women that Hollywood perpetuates and demands. The average American woman wears a size 14, for better or worse. The lollipop girls are not the norm. This photo was run just so mean girls can point and laugh at "fatty fat" Jessica. I say, lay off her. She just had a baby, and unlike most Hollywood moms she actually carried the baby to term -- she didn't have a c-section a month early followed by a tummy tuck. I say good for her. Trying to lose weight sucks. I've been trying to do it for 15 years.

Also, it makes me sick that beautiful women like Jessica are ridiculed for their bodies while no one says a word about Jack Nicholson, Jack Black (hey, let's make him Kate Winslet's love interest, since she's "fat," too!), Russell Crowe (he balloons and then diets back down-really healthy!), Kevin James, Zach Galifianakis, James Gandolfini, etc. Guys get a free pass and can continue to play love interests, but if a woman wears a size 10 she's a hippo. Nice.

  47. I thought she was set to get a tummy tuck/lipo and then get a weight loss AD deal?

    ReplyDelete
  48. or at least thats what a BI said a while ago and she was the pop. guess

    ReplyDelete
  49. And I'm glad that it looks like she hasn't done the tummy tuck/lipo thing. she looks like *most* women after having a baby. And I'll echo the sentiments above; at least she carried hers to term and didn't induce on a certain date because the numbers aligned or some such nonsense.

  50. Ya know we can't even see this person's face. It may not even BE Chestica for all we know. We should celebrate women of every size. And speaking of, everyone here (save for a few maybe, can't recall) all defended this celebrity who just had a baby. Give yourselves a pat on the back for NOT buying into the "stick thin woman after the baby" bullshit. Kudos to you all.

  51. I never criticize women for not immediately losing weight post pregnancy, but Jess is a different story. If she did indeed gain 80lbs., or close to that during pregnancy it was grossly irresponsible and might have a lot to do with her deal with Weight Watchers. The headline will be, "I lost 80 lbs in 30 weeks". It's so irresponsible of the company and Jess. Losing weight is very hard, and to purposely gain that much weight for a contract is beyond stupid and dangerous for her as a pregnant woman. Normal weight woman only need to gain about 25 lbs., during pregnancy. You lose about 10 lbs., of it almost immediately once the baby is born. That leaves 15 lbs., left to lose. THAT'S why so many famous and not famous people look close to their pre-pregnancy selves so soon post delivery. They don't eat for an army!!!

I gained 85 lbs when I was prego and did not eat for an army. Once I hit the 25 lb mark I hired a trainer & nutritionist, and I wholey and faithfully followed their direction. I wanted my baby healthy, so I had to be healthy. I had the worst swelling and water retention my doctor had ever seen. You'd touch my arm with a finger & I'd have a dent where you touched for over a half hour. Not to mention the full term morning sickness that hit at all hours of the day and night.

I'm not trying to be rude, especially as this is my first comment & I read all comments every day (it's the best part!) but the 80+ food comment was clost to home for me.

It took me 18 months to loose the weight, but I thought "why not keep going?" I was about 35 lbs overweight to begin with. I'm now down to a healthy weight, loosing 115 from the day I have birth, and even though my Ruby is only two she clearly understands exercise is a daily habit and healthy foods are yummy!

  52. Good to know that not everyone is like Beyonce, who is claiming to have lost 60 pounds in an incredible short period of time yet looks no different than she did two years ago.

  53. I don't think there's a problem running a picture like this, because I don't think she looks bad. It all just depends on the context and how you present it. Overall, I think Enty presents pictures of celebs with a range of body types, and he has generally positive things to say about their figure. If we could get more of that in mainstream media, maybe we wouldn't be so quick to call a curvy girl fat, or a thin one anorexic.

    ReplyDelete
  54. i don't find anything wrong with her size, its the way her "pants" fit. you know its worse in front. she must be stopped. pictures like this provide a public service toward that end.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Jess has a reason for the weight although I agree with Liz that no one needs to gain EIGHTY pounds with a pregnancy if you're not the Octomom. I honestly don't think Jess looks bad or ever has. Girl is working out, she's wearing clothes appropriate to that and she's covering up in public with loose things until she loses the baby weight.

Christina Aguilera, well, all's fair there because she has no excuse for how flubby she's become and she's been such a bitch to so many for so long that there's no sense denying them the joy of seeing her fat thighs on every blog on the web.
