Good Morning America Continues To Dominate - Robin Roberts To Take Medical Leave
For the first time in 17 years, Good Morning America beat the Today Show in the total number of viewers. For 852 weeks GMA lost. That all changed and much of the success is because everyone loves Robin Roberts and hates Matt Lauer and whoever he is sleeping with at that particular time. It has nothing to do with Ann Curry. Anyway, Robin told reporters yesterday that she is going to have to take time off in August and September for her bone marrow transplant. Combined with Today having all of this Olympics stuff going for them and her absence, GMA is going to struggle to hang on to first. Robin said that Katie Couric would be filling in a lot. Robin is amazing and I hope she completely recovers from this.
Here here.
ReplyDeleteThat Savannah women is awful.
ReplyDeletePatty i know. She is so awkward. I cringe when i watch her on tv.
DeleteSpeedy recovery, a bone marrow transplant is no walk in the park...
ReplyDeleteEnty- did you hear that CBS this morning is replacing Erica Hill with Norah O'Donnell?
ReplyDeleteGood luck and good wishes to Robin
Well wishes to Robin. Take all the time you need honey. I'd rather see you healthy and happy in 3 months than sick just for ratings.
ReplyDeleteNot a big fan, but she's handling this with grace and dignity. Best wishes to her.
ReplyDeleteThe thing that makes GMA so much more watchable is that Robin Roberts and Sam Champion in particular seem genuine, as if their on-air persona isn't much different than their off-air demeanor. I could take or leave the rest of the cast, but those two make it easier to watch ABC, even if it is sometimes the only over-the-air channel that comes in some mornings.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adore Robin. Shes a class act. Love Josh Elliot too. I really think they should gove George Stefanopolis (sp) and have Josh be co anchor. I like George but politics is his niche. Sam Champion is such a cheery, gay weatherman. Lara is annoying and overly enthusiastic but they love her for some reason.
ReplyDeleteDuring the school year we all prefer GMA! My kids even like them, and it is a great time keeping get us out the door ontime thing as well.
ReplyDeleteMe personally, I like that they all get along and seem to really care for eachother.
Good luck Robin! Me and the famdamily will be sending you tons of healing thoughts!
I prefer the Today show, but I watch GMA cause I can't stand Savannah Guthrie.
ReplyDeleteGMA is a little boring...
I watch GMA every morning. I switched to today a few mornings ago after hearing all of the curry business. It sucked. Matt is a dork!
ReplyDeleteI like Robin Roberts a lot. I was pleasantly surprised when they made her a co-anchor. I haven't watched regularly since Diane Sawyer and Charlie Gibson left but she is a good edition.
ReplyDeleteI wish her the very best.
Oh, hey, I was recently notified that I am a possible match for bone marrow donation (second time since I signed up in the '90s). Wouldn't that be interesting if the person needing the bone marrow is Robin and I'm the donor! Probably not, but you never know! LOL
ReplyDeleteFYI, it's painless to sign up: http://marrow.org/Home.aspx
Her sister is her donor.
DeleteWho are all these people who hate Matt Lauer?? The Today Show has done fine for the majority of his run as co-anchor. I couldn't stand Ann Curry and Savannah doesn't do much for me, but I don't pin all the blame on Matt Lauer.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch GMA but wish Robin the best.
Ah, Lara Spencer if you see her in person she never makes eye contact...
ReplyDeleteShe was just in ATL for the retirement of Monica Pearson - who had been at ATL's WSBtv (ABC) for 37 years! When Monica applied, she beat out Jane Pauley and Oprah! Interesting tidbit...
ReplyDeleteHowever, Robin was the mistress of ceremonies and you never would have known she was sick. A true professional and nice to everyone she came in contact with.
I hear GMA is bringing in some great guest/stunt hosts in her absence, but I wish her a speedy recovery and may we see her again very soon! Hopefully she will not be severely affected by nausea and all those other symptoms that are sometimes much worse than any needle!

I absolutely adore Robin and wish her great strength through this.

ReplyDeleteI like Robin, but will not watch GMA again until George is gone. I agree that Ann and Savannah are the problems at NBC, not Matt.
ReplyDeleteIt has everything to do with Ann, sorry Lawyer. They blamed the drop on her...they got rid of her and look what happened. Dropped further. If ABC had any brains they would Hire Ann to cover for Robin while she was out.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to Robin...I've been a loyal GMA watcher for many, many years and have always adored Robin. Whens he had breast cancer and beat that, I had hoped her health struggles were over. Wish her a very speedy recovery and hope she takes the time she needs to fully heal. She is a true pro.
ReplyDeleteOh, well, someone else in need then :-)
ReplyDeleteI watched Today for many years. After Ann took over, I started listening to my ipod before work instead of watching TV. She is so awkward, it made me uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteI adore Robin Roberts. She is the real deal and I so hope she has a speedy and full recovery. Such a class act!
ReplyDeleteI love her and wish her the best. However, my dad needed a BMT but this took forever once and if there was a donor found. Hopefully she doesnt get special treatment...seems fast to get a BMT already.
ReplyDeletemy dad, not famous or rich, never did get that BMT.
OH her sister is her donor. that makes a bit more sense. siblings are the best possible. my dads brother was not a match
ReplyDeleteonly the perpetually-entertainment informed watch national morning shows. they deserve what they get!
ReplyDeleteRobin Roberts was lucky enough that her sister is a perfect match. I have been a true fan of GMA since Joan London was on and have never been disappointed yet. Robin is a true professional, and a wonderful person, POSITIVE THOUGHTS being sent her way. Wishing the very best outcome possible!
ReplyDeleteLOVE YOU ROBIN ROBERTS!
ReplyDeleteBlessings & Best Wishes, Robin! Praying for full recovery for you! Although I don't watch GMA, I've always enjoyed Robin's work, especially as a sports anchor. She's tough & I hope she comes thru all this ok.
ReplyDeleteDon't watch Today either. I enjoy CNN or HLN with Robin "Good Mornin', Sunshine!" Meade. I used to be a Matt Lauer fan (when Katie was his co-host), but not so much now. Did anyone see Ann's coverage of the Colorado shooting? I missed it. She had to co-host with Savannah last Sat & Sun...awkward. I'm sure Ann was a pro, as usual.
I'm watching Charlie Rose now! Erica Hill is gone? She always seemed like a third wheel anyway.
ReplyDeleteI use to watch Today, but it got too stupid! All the segments were dumb. I don't care about the three "professionals" who is the latest Food Network star.
I've had a chance to meet Ms. Roberts on a number of different occasions and she has to be one of the nicest, most sincere people I've ever had a chance to meet. What you see on TV is not an act... she is truly that sweet.
