Pink Turned Down Every Judging Gig Offered To Her
You know who would be a good judge on American idol, or The Voice or X Factor? Pink. You know who turned them all down? Pink. So, that means Pink was the choice before Britney or Demi Lovato. It also means she was the choice before Mariah Carey. That is going to be some damaging news to Mariah. Nick might have to work extra hard tonight. Pink told the Herald Sun that she turned them down because you can't be honest when you are judging the show otherwise people will hate you. She says Simon Cowell gets away with it because he is a man and has an accent. She is right of course. Unless someone is so bad that everyone can see it, the judges never say anything bad. They say it was a little off or not your best night and then leave it up to the audience so they don't have to do it.
And I didn't think I could love and admire her any more then I already did!
ReplyDeleteAmerican Idol is the worst for giving everyone a trophy. I feel like they're pretty honest about contestants' skills on The Voice, but they try to deliver it as softly as possible. Unless of course Christina is in one of her catty moods and she straight up is like "MEH. I DIDN'T GET IT."
ReplyDeleteI don't think she'd be a good judge. Then again I near saw her appeal. To me she doesn't have much talent tries hard to be punk but comes off as pop.
ReplyDeleteLove her! Score 1 for honesty and altruism!!
ReplyDelete@Baka
ReplyDeleteI used to feel that way about her too. I could not stand the sight of her back in the early 2000's.
In the last 5 or so years she'll just say something so awesome and spot on she's won me over. Also, have you seen her perform live whilst hanging by strings doing acrobatic stuff? She's VERY talented.
LOVE Pink!!!!
ReplyDelete@Baka
ReplyDeletewow. Have you SEEN her Grammy performance? The one with her drenched and rotating above the crowd?
Pink has more talent than Britney, Demi, and Mariah combined.
Love her.
*waits for Mariah's people to say something.*
ReplyDeletePink can sing her ass off.
There goes my dream of replacing Xtina on The Voice.
ReplyDeletePink was the singer for the Sunday Night Football theme song for the first year, then they replaced her with Faith Hill. It was rumored that Pink was 'divisive' to some of the audience, and 'threatening' (probably to rednecks, sorry), because she was such a strong woman. Many also thought she was a *gasp* lesbian singing their football theme song! Oh noes!
ReplyDeleteSo now we have to suffer a tweaked Faith Hill acting 'tough' and 'sassy' (as the song was written for that type). AWFUL.
I am an NFL fanatic, and I loved Pink in the original season. It's always a few narrow-minded fools who squawk the loudest, and doom us all to Faith Hill.
Hi, first time poster...
ReplyDeleteLove Pink! And, not just cuz some hot young guy told me I could be her Mom. ;)
Welcome Reeses!
ReplyDeleteYeah, LOVE Pink, her Grammy performance was UNBELIEVABLE.
I should have said '...doom us all to Faith Hill singing a dumb rock song in a leather mini'.
ReplyDeleteNo offense, Country Music fans. Pink fit the song, Faith doesn't. JMO
Don't feel bad, Libby. Faith is horrible in that SNF intro. I look forward to it in a trainwreck sort of way each week.
ReplyDeleteAnd my God, they photoshop the hell out of her there, don't you think? She's unnaturally elongated in that opening, IMO.
LOVE her:-)
ReplyDeletePink is not a sellout! Nice job, girl! :)
ReplyDeleteI love Pink too, but I think she would be too mean as a judge. People are tired of the Simon Cowell 'bluntness' and if Pink were to go on as a judge it would just come back harder on her (and would show only the worst side of her).
ReplyDelete@ Libby - your comment *immediately* made me think of Jenna Maroney singing the tennis theme song.

Methinks the 30rock writers were 'inspired' by the NFL football theme switcheroo.
Yes! Frufra, she is crazy-tall & thin, and the camera filters are doing heavy lifting for her as well there.
ReplyDeleteIt is a trainwreck. Even FH looks uncomfortable in the 'sassy' role. THAT was the take they went with SMH...
Magness--Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.
Magness---CLASSIC! Totally a SNF spoof. So funny, THANK YOU.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I'm here so much today because my BF is sleeping in and I have to be quiet until he wakes up.
Just call me 'Rita'....j/k. Please no one be mean to me like someone was to Rita. It drove her away completely.
@libby - we look forward to her little fiasco every week - hubby and I even have our own version of the song that we walk around the house singing! After 20+ years, inside jokes are one of the many things that keep us laughing. And we are that obnoxious couple who think every joke the other one makes is hilarious, so it's quite a spectacle, I'm sure :-).
ReplyDeleteYou're so lucky in that, Frufra.
ReplyDeleteI'm always amused by the team names part...i.e. "Colts and Bills in a primetime fight..." I would love to watch her recording those over & over, until she matches the song they're spliced into.
The late-season ones are always the BADLY matched, as the season progresses and the originally scheduled games are bumped at the last minute for more competitive or meaningful games.
Thanks for the info! I wondered what happened to Pink's version of the the opening number. I like Faith okay, but you're so right, it's definitely Pink's song. Why does Faith change from leather to white crop pants? Yup, that's edgy all right. I love Pink and her Grammy performance was one to remember. The first time I heard her sing a ballad I got teary because I didn't realize what a nice voice she has.
ReplyDeleteA lot of others (cough *Mariah* cough) would just take the money and run. Pink is smart to realize that the judging thing isn't for her.
calif---AND she wears those crop pants with hooker heels, and rocks her legs & ass back and forth to the beat, like a middle-aged stripper.
ReplyDeleteI effing love Pink. I liked her music good enough, but loved her ever since her grammy performance of Glitter in Air - that sealed the deal with me that she's way under-rated.
ReplyDeleteIf the show just let her be herself, she WOULD be an awesome addition to judge AI.
Ugh blogger ate my last comment so I apologize if this is a duplicate....LOVE Pink! She is a kick ass chick who doesnt play Hollywood games. The only time you see her papped lately is with her kid & Corey (?) going to the beach or riding their bikes. She doesnt apologize for being herself & love that she stays true to that. She doesnt try to reinvent herself like some other people Madonna
ReplyDeleteLove love love her. So glad she didn't take their money to sell her soul and lose her strong independent voice while judging. She is a wonderful mommy and I am so so happy her and Corey worked things out and never officially got divorced. They are a modern day love story!
ReplyDeletePink love!
ReplyDeleteFrufra, you and hubby sound adorable! Twenty years is a huge accomplishment. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI've always been a Pink fan and this proves to me that she has always been the real deal!
ReplyDeletelibby & frufra, ita about the football song! Faith Hill, really? *eyeroll* Soooooo excited for NFL to start! :)
"because he's a man and has an accent" lol
ReplyDeleteThe truth is it's probably because she has a heart of gold.
I love Pink. She can do no wrong in my eyes.
ReplyDelete@libby and dia - thanks :-). I know I hit the love jackpot - got really lucky really young. (cause I'm so young now, I would have been REALLY young 20 years ago :-). Total child bride :-).
ReplyDeletePink is just as much of a diva as those many claim to hate. She's just packaged a bit differently.
ReplyDeleteOmg Rita.... I mean Libby. That was hilarious!! Thanks for the laugh!!
ReplyDeleteA woman with actual talent, and smarts.
ReplyDeleteLOVE Pink.
I'm a big Pink fan!
ReplyDeleteIdol judges are very poor at being honest with contestants. "Pitchy" is
not informational. Randy should be able to say you are a quarter note sharp all the way through, or whatever needs to be said. Instead they compliment their clothes!
i personally don't like her music, but that performance was awesome. She has always been a little too whiny about her upbringing for my taste.
ReplyDeletePink writes her own music and got into it with la Reid in the beginning exude he didn't like that. She won obviously. That makes her leAps and bounds more talented than these other twerps
ReplyDeleteWow. I am redneck and not threatened by Pink. I guess it is ok to stereotype as long as it is those redneck people.
ReplyDeleteIf you question her talent I urge you to watch this
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfqbXYlinlA
and remember she is really singing, no lip sync for this girl.
Lots of singers actually sing.
ReplyDeletetxtomtom---I was talking about MALE rednecks being threatened by a strong woman. I am an opinionated woman in the Bible Belt, and my ancestry is itself of the Appalachian persuasion (hillbilly/redneck).
ReplyDeleteI've never seen you here before, but most of the people here 'know' that about me. I am talking about my own family, friends and neighbors when I say that. Because I live and have lived that sexism all my life.
(For me personally, I can't imagine describing a female as a 'redneck.' Always felt like a strictly 'man term' in MY Red State.)
Love Pink. Hubby and I started watching her in concert before she broke huge in Australia. We told all of our friends to go see her, but they waited until stadiums were packed while we got to be so close to the stage we could have touched her at the early concerts. Awesome performer, highly recommend going.
ReplyDeleteI kind of adore her.
ReplyDeleteLove her look, love her mind, love her music. She rocks. It's AI's loss.
ReplyDeleteWow, Libby - I post occasionally. Mostly I just lurk because I am not as up on the blinds as most of you. I don't think that if I were new it would make much difference to my opinion. I too am from the south and am a strong opinionated woman. And yes, redneck is used to describe women.
