National Enquirer Blind Item

THIS showbiz legend loves testing her star power! The Oscar winner took her spoiled pooch to a five-star luxury hotel that doesn’t allow pets. Not only did she get them to bend the rules but also persuaded the chef to cook the dog organic chicken with carrots and potatoes – and even had housekeeping bring it heated blankets! Who is this demanding diva?

    Nevermind, they don't have Oscars.

  3. Barbra? Shirley? Liza?

Who? It's too vague. But Babs and Liza were in the pics yesterday.

  4. I thought Babs had an Oscar for something. Too lazy to search. Shirley has an Oscar, but I don't want this to be her.

  8. Barbra.. remember the Oprah episode where she sang a song and dedicated it to her recently deceased dog while a slideshow of his pictures was showing?
she has won an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award.
Her Oscar was for Funny Girl

  9. I don't think she is testing it, more like she expects it. I vote for Babs also.

  10. Ope. Babs DOES have an Oscar. Funny Girl. This is def her - remember Kathy Griffin's story about her on Oprah with her painted white mic, and singing in front of a montage of her dead dog?

  11. Haha @L - we're on the same wavelength!

  12. Jane Fonda doesn't go anywhere without her pooch...

  13. And she won for writing EVERGREEN.

  14. I did the research.

    Babs has two Oscars:
    Best Actress, Funny Girl, 1969
Best Music, Original Song, A Star Is Born, 1977

    Liza has one:
    Best Actress, Cabaret, 1973

Old Liza scares me...a lot. I saw her at a fundraiser in the 90s. It was just after she had hip surgery. She had a lot of white makeup on her face. The makeup did not work well under flourecent lights. It was still pretty incredible to see her in person though!

  15. Jane is a good guess too.

Though, Babs seems the biggest diva of them all.

  16. @bflgurl Liza & Babs absolutely have Oscars there is life before 1980.

Liza won in Best Actress 1973 for Cabaret and Babs won in 1977 for best song A Star is Born and 1969 for Best Actress for Funny Girl.

  17. That's cool Mamabot! Liza is a legend & keeps on going, despite her troubles

    And my guess is Babs

  18. Glenn Close, (other than being the furthest thing from diva in my gossip dictionary) goes everywhere with her dog also. I would not hate on a person nor throw shade at someone for pampering a beloved extended family member. If I had the money, I would do this for Dave(lab mix). He is old and arthritic and really deserves organic meals prepared by a chef and heated blankets.

@timebob: a quick scan on wiki and I did not see it. Oopsie.

  20. Barbra Streisand is the one who famously walked up to accept her Oscar, looked down at it and said "Hello gorgeous" into the microphone.

If this is true (National Enquirer default disclaimer), it sounds like Streisand to me.

  21. on the streisand train. this screams babs to me!

  22. Ugh, pet owners like this give the rest of us a bad name! I feel like I'm noticing more and more restrictions because of owners who refuse to be respectful and blow it for everyone else.

  23. @LetLoveRule, what bugs me more is cat people get the "crazy" reputation.

One time encounter with Glenn Close. Perhaps it was a bad day for her, but she was extremely condescending and very unfriendly. In my opinion, she went out of her way to be so at what was otherwise a low key, private screening.

    I do think she's a great actress, but ...

  25. FS: The "Hello, Gorgeous!" line was a reference to her opening line in Funny Girl, the movie for which she won said Oscar. (A year or so back, I saw an exhibit of Scaasi couture, including the outfit she wore to the Oscars that night that looked see-through under the lights; I can assure you it's most definitely well-lined--albeit w/flesh-toned fabric for a "nude" look--so you really can't see her booty in the photos from that night. It really was a bit of a scandal at the time...) Anyway, I can definitely see Babs for this BI, and I agree w/everyone who says they only wish they could do that for their own furbabies, although w/my luck Jezebel would turn her nose up at the organic goodies...

  26. Faye Dunaway just to throw another name out there. "Legend" though seems to point more at a Babs types, but I've heard all kinds of diva stories about Faye.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Throwing it out there: Susan Sarandon has been promo-ing "Cloud Atlas" and in a few of those interviews she's been talking about her dog.

Her dogs even has their own twitter accounts (@mspennypuppy @msrigbypuppy)

  28. This must be Babs, seriously this is the same women who sued the California Coastal Records Project over the inclusion of her house in Malibu in the project, that has been keeping photographs of the California coastline to document the toll of humans and nature.

I love these celebs who are all vocal about protecting the environment, as long as it does not effect them in any way.

Well there's a tangent for you.

    She lost, I loved it.

  29. There was an item years ago about Babs that said she would send one of her flunkies to a store before she would shop there to inspect the toilet & if it wasn't up to snuff, she wouldn't shop there or in a few cases, if all it needed was a cleaning, the flunky got down & cleaned it.

  30. Glenn Close wouldn't have done Damages unless it was filmed in New York City.

I think any of the ladies mentioned deserve to be treated special. They ARE special compared to me or some reality celebutard.

  31. There was a photo of Sarandon and her dog at Fashion Week. I bet it's her.

  32. I'm going with Babs. I'm giving Liza anti-diva points for her awesome turn on Arrested Development.

Babs, Sarandon, Close, all good guesses. What about Faye Dunaway ? Horror stories about her divaness, but does she have dogs?
    I'll go with Babs

  34. I'd say Paris, but the dogs are all dead.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't see any issue with it if the hotel let it happen--lots of people love their pets. She probably was billed for the special food, and blankets, so who cares?

    ReplyDelete
  36. OK, let's get this straight--Glenn Close has never won an Oscar, although she's been nominated several times. As for the other named contenders:

    Babs: 1969--Best Actress, Funny Girl
1976--Best Original Song, "Evergreen," from A Star is Born (w/Paul Williams, who once remarked that working w/her was like having a picnic at the end of an airport runway...)

    Liza: 1972--Best Actress, Cabaret

    Faye: 1976--Best Actress, Network

Susan: 1995--Best Actress, Dead Man Walking

I still think Babs is the most likely to do such a thing, but right now I'm starting to think Susan is the dark horse candidate here--I haven't heard of the former being seen around w/a dog, whereas the latter has been hitting Fashion Week w/hers. How does that all sound?

  37. I think if you're paying 2k+ for a suite and you want to bring your dog in...screw the rules, you should be able to.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I just want to point out that if you are allergic to cats and dogs, as I am, I would expect a non-pet friendly hotel to enforce the rules. The next person to rent the room shouldn't suffer. Also, I think this is Barbra.

  39. Does dropping in on a show in its 13th season count as long term career success?

I just meant Danson didn't have a "Frasier"'

  42. At least she treats her dog well, and not like he/she is an accessory.
