The Golden Globes and the Emmys are my favorites. And I've always wanted to have one of those Oscar parties with the food themed after the nominated movies, but I don't know anyone else who watches it!
I used to watch Country Music Awards, but I don't even bother with that anymore (because I always miss them). I think that I watched part of the Oscars a single time.
I can't make it through most award shows. Premio Lo Nuestro is always good, though, on Univision. I always sit close to the television waiting for Chino y Nacho and Daddy Yankee and all the latinas in gowns -- but movies and Broadway awards? They're supposed to be the Super Bowl for gay men, but I'd rather watch the Super Bowl.
I don't have a TV connection any more - I download the few series I watch. I do kind of miss the Oscars, though, and it was annoying to watch the Olympics events the next day instead of live. But in general, it's a positive - no cable bill, no just "watching TV" when there's nothing really on.
I try to watch all if them, i really do, but they are so stupifyingly boring i usually Last 5 mins. If snything earth shattering happens, or a big moment, u can see in like 10 mins on you tube. No need to watch.
And i hate the si-called red carpet shit. I dont really care who's wearing who, and I dont see why anyone else wld either. You look nice? Good! Thats all i need to know!
I like the red carpet shows to see the dresses but I rarely watch the full award shows. Sometimes I watch the Oscar openings or Emmy opening depending on who is hosting...and I will occasionally watch the Tony's because of the big musical performances.
There are so many awards shows and they're mostly boring. This is the most ridiculously over celebrated industry on the planet. I can catch the few high points the next day. THanks, internet!
I don't watch any of them - the self-congratulatory bollocks is just too much for me. If they had saved a life or found a cure for a disease, maybe found a clean energy source I'd be happy to watch them get an award, but getting an award for turning up and doing your (very highly paid) job, not so much.
Emmys, Golden Globes, Oscars and Goya's (Spain's Oscars).
I like the red carpet and most of the show but when they get to certain parts like the President of the accounting firm explaining the ballot procedures or the lifetime oscar....I go do dishes or clean the litter box.
i hate award shows...don't get why they ares till showing them, just hand them out privately and tell us online the next day...since this year my average viewing of television has increased by 100% i might watch it to see who wins (since I now know what's being nominated)
I watch the red carpet and I make a point to DVR Fashion Police because Joan Rivers is just so entertaining doing what she does post-award shows. I will have an awards show on as background noise if nothing else is doin'. But this Sunday is Jersey Housewives. Priorities, Enty. Priorities.
I used to LOVE watching the Emmys, but it seems that the Academy loves what it loves, and continues to nominate the same people/shows every year. I will be recording (as I'll be working that night) to see if MAYBE this year Amy Poehler will receive her long-deserved 1st Emmy!
Nope, I do not watch any awards shows anymore. I don't mind hearing about them after the fact though. My favorite is after the American Music Awards when I hear from coworkers that none of their favorite singers can sing.
I don't have time to watch them, unfortunately. I just look at the fashion photos afterward, to see what people are wearing, and their hairstyles. I always read the Winners lists. I'm more interested in the music awards, but I always read the TV and Movie award winner lists.
Love all the major awards, the oscars, Emmys, Grammys, golden globes, I make special snacks, and if I don't have girlfriends over, I am on the phone with my sisters during commercials so we can discuss.... It's fun to make a night out of it, even if they are silly and vapid, I love watching them the night they happen.
Movie awards season. Starts with The Golden Globes. Then over the next 5 weeks there is BAFTA, SAG Awards, Director's Guild, Independent Spirit Awards & finally the Oscars. Sept thru early Dec it's all college football. Then it's all movie awards. Then I start reading books again.
All I'm going to do is YouTube Jimmy Kimmels prank the next day

ReplyDeleteI'm usually at work, so no.
ReplyDeleteBesides, the next day snark here beats the living hell out of watching the shows.
I think all awards shows are lame and I don't watch any of them.
ReplyDeleteI watch all the highlights via the Internet. This site, as well as DListed and others will have the best clips without me wasting 2+ hours watching.

ReplyDeleteI used to watched the Emmy's every year but not any more. It's all the same and not much diversity.
ReplyDeleteDon't watch any awards shows. Never have.

ReplyDeleteand the white house correspondents dinner. That is probably my favorite.
