National Enquirer Blind Item

WHICH legendary songstress can’t resist taking home plush robes, towels and comforters when she stays at five-star hotels, where staffers have covered for her for years? The sticky-fingered, aging Grammy winner has even swiped Bibles!

  1. Aretha? Just who I thought of when I read it, no reason other than that!

  2. I was going to say Barbra - but I just can't see her swiping bibles, of all things.

  3. I thought the reason that bibles were in hotel rooms was because you're supposed to take them. Like, to spread christianity or something... no?

  4. Well, since I've been watching Patti LaHelle videos on YT, I'm going to round out the guesses and say Dionne Warwick.

  5. Whoever this is, I'd be afraid to go to her house. She's gotta be a total hoarder, which is pretty much my worst nightmare.

    1. No way I was thinking I'd love to STAY at her house bc of the fluffy comforters and plush robes in the guest bedrooms! Maybe she even leaves a mint on the guest pillows!

  7. seriously, National Enquirer, who cares????? You need to find some better moles because your blinds suck.

and, the point of the bible being in the room is that the guest can take it if they want it.

    1. Actually they are not meant to be taken. By tradition they are placed there by a group call Gideons to be used for last rites if someone passes away in said room

  8. Babs is jewish I thought, wouldn't take a bible.

I like Dionne Warwick for this. Her sense of entitlement is astounding. On Celebrity Appretice she was flabbergasted that Marlee Matlin, who's deaf, wasn't familiar with her music.

  9. I can see Aretha walking around her house in robes with hotel logos.

Random celeb sighting-My sister saw Dionne Warwick at JoAnn's Fabric not long before Whitney died. She was buying standard craft stuff and my sister said hello and asked how she was doing. Dionne was polite, but not friendly.

  10. I also thought the Bibles were there for the taking??

I steal face cloths all the time - it seems like I never have enough of them! Even though I am a soap to skin type of girl myself?

  11. I all can think of (doesn't matter who): Ewwwww. You're taking the comforter? Gross!

  12. I thought u were allowed to take the bibles? I take face towels from 5* hotels as well, so I can't really comment.

  13. Doesn't everyone?

  14. When someone pays thousands of dollars for a room, the hotel can afford to throw in a fifty dollar piece of terrycloth and a few ashtrays. When I worked on Ocean Drive, we always let the stuff walk out the door. It's all advertising anyway.

  16. Ever since one x-files ep mentioned that the government uses the hotel bibles as a form of surveillance on people they creep me out lol.

  17. I will always regret not taking the bathrobe at the hershey hotel. Yes, there is one, and it's really nice. No, it's not a gay thing...it's in Hershey, PA, near the factory.

  18. Having dealt with Aretha a few times for work...I would bet money on it being her. A vile woman

  19. I can't imagine anyone wanting to take a hotel bible home. Why? But Aretha started out in gospel and she's a SERIOUS diva, so maybe her.

  20. Dolly Parton would also fit.

  21. Comforters? Seriously, comforters??? You've got to be kidding. Yes, I've been in 5 star hotels plenty. Comforters?!?!!??!!

  22. It's not stealing if they charge her for them, which I am sure they do, just like the people that clear out the mini-bar. Some hotels I've stayed at even had a note on the robe hanger giving the price of it

  23. I would never bring home a comforter. I used to work for a major 4* hotel chain and comforters/bedspreads get washed every 5+ visits. And that's not just the hotel I worked for, it's standard at all hotels.

Always ask for a clean comforter to be brought up when you check in.

  24. @Blaze818: That's not why the Gideons put the bibles in hotel rooms.
Last rites are a Roman Catholic rite & the Gideons are an evangelical group.

  26. Most of the nicer hotels where I've stayed have a price list for stuff like the bathrobes, bedding. W Hotels had a whole catalogue. Probably their nice way of saying "if you take it, you bought it." A friend of mine liked the pillows at The Westin so much, she ordered a set from them later.
