Richard Belzer Is Out Of Control On Good Day New York

Yesterday morning, Richard Belzer was a guest on Good Morning New York. Everything was going fine. It was a typical local morning bit with lots of plugging for the actor and nothing really serious ever asked. Richard spent most of the time trying to clear his nose. It was like he had a little coke right under the edge of his nose and was desperate to get it in there. Anyway, in the last minute of the appearance, Richard was asked if the anchor could be on SVU and Richard said only if he was molested and banged in the ass. Yeah. But wait. There is more. Richard then closed it all out by giving the Nazi salute and telling the anchors to say heil to the people over at FOX's other division. I smell rehab.

  1. His behavior was definitely off and it's not like this makes the Nazi salute okay, but he is Jewish. He said that the reason he did it was because he was on a Fox station and was making a commentary about Fox in general.

  2. I love Belzer! Those ears alone. Just a cute old man being crazy - or so he wants you to think...

I've loved Blezer since Ho-Ho-Homicide back in the day. Baltimore shout out!

  3. He's also a comedian so maybe that's why he decided to make some shocking remarks and gestures on Fox news. I still enjoy the guy.

  4. It was a joke...he is on SVU.

The Nazi salute ... he doesn't agree with FOX (according to his "people")

  5. Everytime Belzer does something it just makes me miss Homicide.

  6. This is the second time Fox has been punked on live TV in the last month.

  7. lizjaxe - Homocide was brilliant! I loved all those characters and actors - Andre Baugher left and the show fell apart. Sad :( I also loved Yaphet Kotto.

It was on when I worked juvenile probation in Baltimore so it was a must watch in my house!

    1. Kyle Secor was my favorite but loved them all. Anytime I see anyone from that show all I can think about is the character they used to play. It was on while I was in middle school. I would watch and tape it. Had every episode on tape.

  8. I think Belzer just likes to be a wise ass and say/do what he wants and doesn't care what people think. He's not going to rehab.

  9. Definitely coke. I used to have such a crush on him on Homicide.

  10. Belzer hates Fox and I think it's hilarious what he did. Go Richard!

  11. he hates fox, really? b/c he sure didn't hate it enough to turn down face time in the top local show of the top media market in the country.

i don't give a crap about his political views, but setting out to be offensive when your hosts have been nothing but gracious to you--not to mention given you air time no one else is giving you--just reeks of asshole.

  12. He's always tried just a little too hard to be relevant. Yeah, I think rehab is in his future.

  13. Add me to the list of people who get misty-eyed at every sighting of a Homicide actor. I do miss that show.

I like Belzer, but he was definitely on something(s). He likes to be shocking/outspoken. I don't take his actions too seriously.

  14. Relax everyone, The Belz does not need rehab. He's a comedian. A National Lampoon comedian. He is also a political satirist, and this is not the first time he's "saluted" Fox News. Can't wait until he's on Bill Maher again :)

  15. Yeah, I don't care for FOX News by any means, either, but he can't hate it TOO much to have gone on there in the first place. Pretty tacky.

Nothing to see here, folks...no rehab...just Belzer being a smartass.

FWIW, I think I like Munch better than Belzer.

  16. Omg molested and banged in the ass was the funniest thing ever! I did watch on low volume on my phone but all I saw was a slightly weird comedian who doesn't give a fuck, being funny. Morning tv is so vanilla cookie cutter so he seemed way out of place. That's all, I didn't see someone on drugs and I doubt he overindulges bc he's so busy with his successful career. I'd totally watch morning tv if they had more guys like this on! How can u not love him after Apocolypse Now?

  17. Seriously anyone who knows anything about Belzer would not think he needed rehab- this is how he always is and always has been! I wouldn't be surprised if he was coked up and could care less either. He is always controversial and I think it's quite funny actually to point out the elephant in the room regarding Fox and their take on politics. I don't think you have to be Jewish to employ the adjective Nazi or do a mock heil... but he's just making a controversial point, he's just being who he is, who cares, and yes can't wait for him to be back on Bill Maher he is always awesome on that! (and the two of them obviously enjoy "prepping" together)

  19. I'm increasingly tired of "rehab" as the prescribed way to clean up a PR gaffe (not that this one is a gaffe; clearly he's ridiculing the agitprop corporation). Rehab is helpful for people with a chronic ongoing substance abuse disorder; I don't think I have enough evidence to say he has a daily chronic drug addiction issue going on in his life.

  20. oh enty fyi this isn't the first time he's done the nazi salute google it

  21. Oh if only there were rehab for verbal/typed diarrhea.

  22. He's just Belzer being Belzer. Fox must know what they are signing on for when they have him as a guest and he shoulder bumped the female host in a friendly way.

I'm convinced that the producers and writers of SVU let Belzer write Munch's anti-establishment rants.

  23. Loved him since Scarface. This made me laugh.

  24. He was making a statement about Fox News. Look into the ownership - he's 100% correct.

  25. Groovy, are the owners of FOX Nazis? What are you talking about? Oh, yeah, Belzer is just great on Maher's show. Two 1%-ers complaining about the mean 1%-ers. Hypocrites. BTW, FOX set a new record last night for the presidential debate. Not only did it beat all the cable stations, it even beat the networks on debate night. That must be burning Belzer's butt right now. Dave Price is adorable. Belzer is getting really ugly - he looks like Lurch the butler.

  26. ITA Pookie and CarolMR. Before Homicide ever got to TV David Simon wrote a book called Homicide on which the series was based. It's a great read.
