ReplyDeleteI went to a Halloween party on Saturday dressed as Honey Boo Boo! I even made a backpack out of a tub of cheese balls, and wore fluffy piggy slippers as "Glitzy". And the last time I ToTed I was 13 or 14 as a joke, and my friend and I both dressed as Bjork.

No costume tonight...I'm handing out candy and dressing my dog up (as a skunk).
ReplyDeleteLast time I trick or treated, I was 14. I was escorting my younger brothers so it wasn't totally unacceptable :)
I'll be taking my kids out but we've already been to a costume party and a fall festival this month.
ReplyDeleteI usually just dress in black from head to toe, which as a native of New Jersey is my natural wardrobe. At least that's how it was when I lived there. Women here in central Texas think that's kind of weird though.
Oh, and the last time I trick or treated was 2002, when I was 39! :D Seriously, in my apt. building in Ann Arbor. My friends dared me and I did. Got some good candy, too!

ReplyDeleteI was raised in a weird church (Worldwide COG, if anyone knows of it), so I've never been trick or treating other than taking The Short One.
It's pouring rain here, frankly doesn't seem like much fun today :(
Stopped around 11 - I felt stupid.
ReplyDeleteWhen I worked in a pediatric hospital, we were encouraged to dress up as long as it wasn't overtly sexual or too scary for small kids. We had a ball. The best costume I saw was a woman who wore a short dress with blue and black sequins, blue and black sequins on pantyhose and made a cape with blue and black sequins lined with blue lights she lit up with batteries. She was a fly. It was GREAT!
I bought candy for 2 years when we moved into this subdivision and got no trick or treaters so I've stopped buying candy. We'll probably just watch more of the storm coverage tonight.
The last time for me was as a 17-year old senior in high school. Last hurrah kind of thing. This year, no costume. Had too much going on to plan one and was too tired to go out on Saturday night.
ReplyDeleteI was 13, I fully support HS trick or treating, and as my cousin was 6 feet at age 11, I feel bad if kids are looked at sideways.
ReplyDeleteI am happy to report my Hallowe'en decorations survived the storm but I will add more fake cobwebs tonight.
It's a religious holiday for us, so we love all aspects of it.

ReplyDeleteI tried to go bar hop as a cheap witch after my 21st. Before that I hadn't dressed up since I was probably 13.
We live on a dead end and don't get any tricker treaters either! Last year I bought candy and ended up eating it myself. ;)
Well, forty years ago, Halloween was actually still fun....I probably still went out maybe up to Grade 7-8 or so...There weren't really costumes for sale back then, so people made their own....
ReplyDeleteMy oldest son wanted to go as Shoop Da Whoop a couple of years ago, and that costume was fun to make...For those who don't know what it looks like it was a meme with great big pop-eyes (which we made by sawing big styrofoam balls in half). By by the time my son got home, the whole costume had slid down, and it looked like he had these enormous breasts on his chest....
I trick or treated through high school, but with a break around 8th grade or freshman year because of course my friends and I thought we were too cool. But then we got over ourselves and realized it was fun again and trick or treated up through senior year. My girlfriends and I were Senior Bitch Girls from Dazed and Confused for both jr and sr years. It was a blast and it's not like people didn't know we were 17!

Can't have a syringe and blood sticking out of my chest at work, so I had to pick a scene that was tamer. My 2 yr old daughter is a ladybug. We will take her trick or treating. So I can get some candy lol

Trick or treating hasn't been on my radar for decades.
I went trick or treating last year with my nephew. I'm 28.
ReplyDeleteThis year I'm dressing as Carmen Sandiego and helping my friend hand out candy at his comic book store. NERD ALERT
I stopped around 12 and have only dressed up a couple times as an adult, just not that into it. My kids and husband are obsessed though...my 16 yo is Finn from Adventure Time and my little ones are Avengers. I don't mind anyone coming to the door, no matter the age as long as they are on costume but I won't give candy if they aren't dressed up. Bah, I such an old lady, haha.
ReplyDeleteWe live in a loft building, and I know there are a few kids/babies. I am REALLY hoping their parents bring them around. On Saturday morning we were driving to get coffee and we saw a little girl dressed as Snow White and a little boy dressed as a dinosaur walking down the sidewalk holding hands. I totally melted. Seeing kids in their costumes looking so proud and trying to be scary is the absolute cutest thing ever!

However, Hallowe'en is my FAVorite holiday, and I usually have 2 or 3 costumes each year. (Going as th' same thing to different parties just feels wrong.) I was th' Heat Miser over th' weekend and am Cyndi Lauper at work today!

ReplyDeleteI don't dress up, but do have on a wacky outfit that includes my pumpkin jingle bell earrings and a cool owl kerchief. We have a Lion Warrior (think a Spartan with a lion mask) and a Chick Magnet (rubber chicken mask, Foghorn Leghorn shirt, funny hat, etc.) who'll be hitting the streets later.
Mr. Frufra and I do the typical old person schtick - sit outside, passing out candy, and asking every single kid "what are your dressed as, honey?", then making them answer before we give them candy - fun fun.

ReplyDeleteAlso halloween is my fav holiday and it's embarassing but my friends and I actually trick or treated freshman year of college. It was the grossest thing ever. Grody old husbands hitting on us everywhere in a family neighborhood. While their wives were home alone passing out candy. We weren't even dressed slutty.

Last time going door to door for candy I was 17. Four of us, walking around smoking, hiding our cigs behind our backs as we got candy, being cool. I hadn't gone the year or 2 before that. Now I at least wear a mask or something while I bring my kids.

ReplyDeleteI think I stopped around 12 and no costume tonight. No trick or treaters will be by our pad cuz we're in an industrial area and no one knows we live there.
No costume. I'll be handing out toys (never candy) while trying to watch American Horror Story (DirecTV shows it starting at 7:00 p.m. in Los Angeles). Luckily, they repeat the shows back-to-back, so hopefully I'll be able to see the entire show over two airings.

ReplyDeleteI stopped when I was a kid, can't remember how old but I did dress up one day when they encouraged us to at work. I wore a black dress and hose, bought a yellow car wash sponge and cut it into a big triangle and affixed it to my wrist with some elastic and put my Minnie Mouse ears on and went to work as a rat.
ReplyDeleteMy colleague dressed all in pink and put a high heeled shoe on her head and went as a piece of bubble gum stuck under a shoe. It was fun watching her explain that to people. :)
I took my niece trick or treating 2 years ago, and had a blast Tonight I will be passing out candy. We had no one stop by last year, but this year we decorated and carved a pumpkin, so hopefully we get some action. I will wear my Spooky shirt and make my evil laugh

I had a Halloween party two weekends ago and I was "Joanna" from Office Space. My husband went as "Bill Lumberg." We didn't take any pictures, so I need to re-use this costume next year.
I STILL trick or treat! I ain't gonna stop getting my free candy. That's why I had kids! I'm a pregnant zombie of course. When you get older you got always be pregnant to get the candy.
