I loved this!
It's not that strange, Enty. He plays drums for QOTSA sometimes (2 albums I think) as well as other side projects.
Also, seeing Pat Smear always makes me miss The Germs.
What is this? A mention of The Germs on cdan?? RIP Darby Crash, you crazy motherfucker.
On topic, I can't / don't want to watch the video, but anything that makes Courtney Love angry makes me happy.
i would say this is more Foo Fighters and Paul McCartney than Nirvana...
Okay what is with all the ads on this site - I'm going to have to stop reading at work if all that pop up are girls with giant racks.
@seaward: Have you seen "What We Do Is Secret"? (Something like that.) I didn't read the book, but it was cool to get a bit of insight into Darby's life. Pat and Lorna make cameos, waiting in line for a show.
Also: they didn't play Nirvana songs, so anyone who thinks this video/event is a travesty need not worry.
A little Pat Smear makes everything better :) Also, amazing performance!!!
I've never gotten a porn ad or pop-up on this site. The ads on here seem to pertain to my surfing history. I see diamond ads & clothing ads. Maybe you look at porn too much?
Grohl and Novoselic were awesome, McCartney was meh but then again I've never been a fan.
aaaand of course Crazy Courtney Love is having a fit they called it a "Nirvana" reunion. According to her it only would of been cool if John Lennon had been singing. That Kurt was the heart and soul of Nirvana (and apparently the only member in her kooky eyes).
Love how she drags out his dead carcass anytime she needs some publicity. Let the man RIP already.
The porn ads may be the in targeted ones the ad network serves if you don't fall into a targeting category they have sold. Says the person who should be working on digital advertising products right now instead of posting.
He hasn't stopped playing drums at all though
It's not a Nirvana reunion without Kurt, which means there will never be one. Period.
Love Grohl.
Also: he plays drums for Them Crooked Vultures. One of the last concerts I went to and his arms were PUMPED.
Smells Like Senior Citizen Spirit
timebob: In all fairness, she does have a point--it's not a Nirvana reunion, it's the 2 surviving members playing with someone else; I think it was everyone else talking it up as a "Nirvana reunion," not the guys actually playing together. (Gotta say the Lennon quip is pretty good--say what you will about Courtney, but she's always been good with one-liners.)
Years ago, when I was still in GA, I saw the very first Foo Fighters tour at the 40 Watt Club; Mike Watt was the headliner, with Dave playing drums for him, and Hovercraft was the opening act (Eddie Vedder's then-wife Beth's band; Eddie played drums for them while wearing a wig). My roommate & I were standing slightly behind the stage, where we could get a really good look at the drummers, and we agreed that the Foo's drummer was really good...until we saw Dave get up there, at which point both our mouths dropped open & we stood there staring. He's definitely one of the best drummers I've ever seen, and like most people who are really, really good at something, he made it look utterly effortless. Wow...
Robin, be sure to check out the BluRay of Nirvana Live at the Paramount. I guess at the time Nirvana 1st broke I was so focused on Cobain I hadn't noticed what an unbelievable drummer Grol was.
I love Dave Grohl. He is my current husband aside form my real husband.
@seaward sorry to disappoint you but Courtney isn´t mad:
" if they dont do songs they didnt write (nirvana songs they dont own) i dont care." - Courtney's facebook
@timebob so you have the right to publicly state your opinion on people you have never met and matters you hardly know about, yet a person who is part of the corporation running the brand can't? I'm glad I don't have to deal with you.
fyi Kurt hated Paul McCartney. Read his interviews: "I like the Beatles but I hate Paul McCartney". Kurt and Courtney had fights at home because Courtney is a McCartney lady and Kurt was a Lennon man. Considering Kurt idolised Lennon and hated McCartney, Courtney voiced what many Nirvana fans have voiced since yesterday.
@Robin... Mike Watt was a bass inspiration to me when I started playing. Have met him a few times, he's great! He let me play his bass once at RKCNY in Seattle.

Dave Grohl is the best and coolest motherfucker in the world. End of.
I think this is the coolest thread I've ever seen on CDAN.
At a Foo Fighters concert I went to many many years ago, Dave and Taylor had a drum duo. There were two drum sets on stage. They played together and they had a mini drum-off. It was epic and the coolest thing I have every seen in my life.
I was so sad I couldn't make it to the last FF concert in my state. And it looks like it is going to last one for quite awhile.
You are all awesome. This thread IS awesome!
