Today's Blind Items - He Thinks A Lot Of Himself
This back in the day almost A list television and movie actor and now lucky to be on a network show again and making money until the show gets canceled because of low ratings, really thinks highly of himself. Everyone thought he had learned his lesson after his career skyrocketed and he was a teenage heartthrob. No amount of women were too much and the trail he left behind him is almost Wilmer Valderrama worthy. He hit rock bottom after his show was canceled and his attitude cost him roles. No one wanted to work with a spoiled actor when there are a bunch of others out there who are nice and cheaper and better actors. So, when he finally got his chance to work again, everyone thought he would be humbled. Umm, no. In fact, he is probably worse despite being married and having a family to raise. He thinks it is only natural that people hired him and that they had all been wrong to not hire him and he thinks he is worth way more than he actually is. Just because you are on a show and invited to a red carpet does not make you the biggest thing ever. He would disagree. Recently he had a chance to have a great endorsement for his career. His manager loved it. Everyone loved it. The company loved it and offered him a significant amount of money. Our actor turned it down and asked for 250% more than was offered. The company laughed and walked away and gave the endorsement to another actor who was grateful and who stands to make a ton of money off other endorsements in the future. So, our actor has nothing, but he thinks its fine. It won't be when his show is canceled and he has all those mouths to feed. Tough to feed a family on hot air.

ReplyDeleteChristian Slater
ReplyDeleteThat's a good guess.
ReplyDeleteVan Der Beek
ReplyDeleteJames Van Der Beek?
ReplyDeleteI agree- this sounds like Dawson.
ReplyDeleteJvdB, dangit.
ReplyDeletewhy, chachi, why!
ReplyDeleteRob Lowe?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking Rob Lowe, but his show isn't close to being canceled.
ReplyDeleteJames Van Der Beek was who i thought of ....but he only has 2 kids ?
ReplyDeleteMario Lopez? I know hosting isn't acting, but...
ReplyDeleteRob Lowe
ReplyDeleteMark thingy from saved by the bell
ReplyDeleteAfter looking at Van Der Beek's IMDB resume I do not see any movie roles, TV yes, and according to the BI this person does movies.
ReplyDeleteVarsity Blues, and some other awful movie with Fred Savage as a heroin junkie.
DeleteOk, Fred Savage as a heroin junkie? Just the sound of it makes me cringe
DeleteRules of Attraction. I actually liked it. But I'm more a fan of Bret Easton Ellis than many.
DeleteRob Lowe and Christian Slater's kids are all teens. The "mouths to feed" would imply younger children, at least to me. JVDB has a 2 yr old and a newborn.
ReplyDelete@Montana - Varsity Blues? That was a huge teen movie. The Rules of Attraction? Many cameos?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking Rob Lowe, but he always seems like such a nice guy (Twitter, interviews)...I think this blind is geared towards those that would know the 'most recent' heartthrobs, and not those of my generation.
ReplyDeleteProbably James Vander Beek. I'd hate to see 'Don't Trust the B' cancelled...I think it's hilarious!
MontanaMarriott - He was in Varsity Blues, The Rules of Attraction, and did a cameo in the first Scary Movie.
ReplyDeleteJames Van Der Beek makes so much fun of himself and his post- Dawson career on The B in Apartment 23. There is no way this is him. He plays himself on that show and completely rags on himself and his nonexistent career. It's a terrible show but that part at least is awesome.
ReplyDeleteYou beat me to it, spacecowboy.
ReplyDeleteRules of Attraction is actually a pretty good movie.
Hahaha! Van der Beek's IMDB page has a short listed called "Asshole for Hire"
ReplyDeleteI think this is Rob Lowe. I could see how staring at that face in the mirror everyday could cause him to think a lot of himself.
ReplyDeleteEw! I can't imagine James VDB being a heartthrob and leaving behind a wake of broken hearts. I wouldn't hit that ever!
ReplyDeleteI thought by doing Apt B he was making fun of himself. Doesn't seem like that attitude is the same one of entitlement here.
I have no better guess though.
Scott Baio
ReplyDeleteWith ya, Steph.
DeleteYup! First to come to mind!
DeleteThis is who I was thinking, too.
Delete@ Sugar - I was an undergrad during the early days of Dawson's Creek. I didn't get it either, but JVDB's poster adorned the walls of many a freshman girl's dorm, while "BricK" by Ben Folds Five played on repeat.
ReplyDeletewhen i read this i thought of scott baio too
ReplyDeleteJason Priestley?
ReplyDeleteBrian Austin Green
ReplyDeleteBrian austin green?
ReplyDeleteWhat about:
ReplyDelete1) Benjamin Bratt from Private Practice, getting cancelled this year, a couple of kids under age 12, was on Law & Order until 2009 and did a few big movies like Miss Congeniality.
2) Dennis Quaid in Vegas (still in danger of being cancelled) couple of young kids
3) Chris Noth the Good Wife
Were any of these guys teenage heartthrobs back in the day?
DeleteThanks I totally forgot about VB and TROA
ReplyDelete@ katiedean - None of them were teen heartthrobs, as the blind states.
ReplyDeleteBrian Austin Green was never A list or almost A list.
I thought Scott Baio but it appears his show is not on a network.
ReplyDeleteBrian Austin Green. Teenage Hearthrob - 90210
ReplyDelete@Breezy -- good guess, didn't think of him. I was thinking JVB, though.
ReplyDeleteI read this first as Joshua Jackson (love him) but then wondered if it's not Will Arnett? I hope not for the family's sake, this guy reads like an ass.
ReplyDeleteBrian Austin green
ReplyDeleteI thought Baio.
ReplyDeleteOMG, I LOVE Don't Trust The B! That show better not get canceled, it's hilarious!
With old navy as the endorsement
ReplyDeleteI read it as Dawson but didnt know that he had kids so didnt think it was him. I think he's a good guess tho especially based on the other blinds we thought might be him.
ReplyDeleteMario Lopez seems to fit, so I'm jumping on that guess. He was the first person to come to mind and seems very arrogant.
ReplyDelete@Weedith - I really like your guess!
ReplyDeleteBaio & BAG don't have network shows though. As much you may want Nick ate Nite or TBS to be networks like ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX, they aren't.
ReplyDeleteI really want to know what the endorsement is!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have guesses for that?
I say Scott Baio.
ReplyDeleteKiefer Sutherland? Just tossing that one out there.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the Gap endorsement?
ReplyDeleteIf it's indeed BAG, then it would be the Old Navy endorsement some of the 90210 cast members were in.
ReplyDeletePerhaps Mark-Paul Gosselaar? I don't know what kind of ratings "Franklin & Bash" gets. He has two small children with an ex-wife. And he was recently remarried. After "Saved by the Bell" he did rather fall off the map until "NYPD Blue." He has worked since then, but not in projects as large as "NYPD Blue."
ReplyDelete"He hit rock bottom after his show was canceled and his attitude cost him roles. No one wanted to work with a spoiled actor when there are a bunch of others out there who are nice and cheaper and better actors."
ReplyDeleteThen please explain how BlowHan keeps getting work. Must be lots and lots of BJ's. And that in one grotesque thought.
Oh honey, if BJ's got you anywhere I wouldn't be blogging and doing stand up to half mpty rooms!!!
DeleteUgh, both Don't Trust The B and Happy Endings are doing really poorly in the ratings. Why must all the comedies I love by low rated/cancelled. Except for Modern Family/2 Broke Girls, but those are super mainstream.
ReplyDeleteI like James van der Beek, but this *totally* read as him.
ReplyDeleteSomebody said the other day they didn't want to meet actors they like, for fear they'll be total jerks and kill that person's image. ITA.
Rob Lowe doesn't fit for this. He had a string of network shows, West Wing, his own that was cancelled fairly quickly, Brothers and Sisters, and Parks and Rec. He gets steady offers, but he only takes the things he really wants. He's either been very faithful or very discreet since he got married and his boys became teenagers, never hear anything about him being out partying. He's all about family.
ReplyDeleteI started to think of Scott Speedman, but Last Resort has already been cancelled, they are just allowing the 13 episodes to finish production and close out the story.
For some reason I thought of Matt LeBlanc, but he doesn't fit this blind.
ReplyDeleteI like the Scott Baio guess, even though I don't find him the least bit attractive.
Doesn't sound like BAG. He doesn't have mouths to feed. Well, I guess he does if you count Megan.
ReplyDeleteWait! BAG has a show on TV? When did this happen?
Nobody tells me anything. :(
BAG and Megan just had their first child. If you count her, he has "mouths" to feed.
DeleteBAG and Megan just had their first child. If you count her, he has "mouths" to feed.
DeleteSeriously, I think if I read one more Scott Baio guess my head is gonna explode.
ReplyDelete"This back in the day almost A list television and movie actor and now lucky to be on a NETWORK show again and making money until the show gets canceled because of low ratings..."
@Jason - BAG actually has two kids and Megan. He is not however currently on a network show, just a show TBS about a wedding band that hasn't started yet.
ReplyDeleteI don't see this as Lopez, he is all over the place. He isn't an actor anymore really but he has reinvented himself quite successfully and has been at the "celeb host" gig for a long time. Not a newbie there.
ReplyDeleteI when first reading this thought Patrick Dempsey. Not that Grey's is anywhere near low ratings, but back in the day he was a asshole and hence the reason he didn't work for years!!
ReplyDeleteSome good guesses, but not sure if anyone has it yet.
*an asshole
ReplyDeleteChristian Slater is currently the voice of some car commercial, so maybe he's the one who got the gig after the BI guy blew it.
ReplyDeleteI don't find VDB's voice distinctive so no idea why someone would want him for that sort of thing (though the description doesn't say what kind of endorsement he blew. Could have been an onscreen commercial ala the Macy's thing with Mariah,Beiber and Trump)
Just typing out loud
Jessi
ReplyDeleteI thought Dempsey as well. He was huge for a bit with movies like "Pick-up artist" etc, along the lines of Matt Dillon and the brat pack back in the day.
Though these days it seems his wife wears the bitchypants in the family.
I think its Baio b/c he seems like such a smug ass and the ad in question is the Oikos Greek yogurt commercial where "if you eat it, the first person you see will look like John Stamos for 5 seconds." It's stupid, but I laughed.
ReplyDeleteThrowing Joey Lawrence out there.
ReplyDeleteI read this as Scott Baio
ReplyDeleteI love "Don't Trust the B..." and I don't think it could be JVDB because of his role on the show. Anyone who can make THAT much fun of himself can't be full of himself.
ReplyDeleteI have no other guess, though. I am THE worst BI guesser here. ;-)
Scott Baio was my first guess too. He didn't work for ages and ages and dated loads of big name hot blondes, and came off as an absolute tool in his reality show "Scott Baio is 45 and single." Enty sometimes fudges a detail here and there, so maybe the network mention could still be Nickelodeon? Baio is an awfully good fit.
ReplyDeleteI think it's Rob Lowe also. The same Rob Lowe who has totally ruined Parks & Rec for me. However, it does look like he does have some more work coming up on the IMDB>
ReplyDeleteApparently all of the Thursday NBC shows are struggling:
"Parks and Recreation" (3.5 million, 1.7), down 19 percent for its lowest-rated premiere yet.
http://www.cnn.com/2012/09/21/showbiz/tv/the-office-parks-and-rec-nbc-ratings/index.html
BAG's (non-network) show started already and I'm sure it was as terrible as his face.
ReplyDeleteI like the B in 23 alright, so I hope it's not Dawson but I would be okay with it being Zack Morris.
Does Happy Endings have low ratings? That's terrible! They can't cancel it! The last 3 eps were the funniest eps of anything ever.
I read this as Scott Baio the whole time.
ReplyDeleteOh you know it's Dawson, come on, he practically disappeared for a while.
ReplyDeleteRob Lowe seems to have as much work as he wants because he's willing to even do those Lifetime movies like Drew Peterson and Casey Anthony. I've been missing Parks and Rec this year, just busy, but I've liked him in it. The show really became great when Adam Scott and he joined, though Nick Offerman is gold baby.
JvanB 'thinks a lot of himself' with his giant head.
ReplyDeleteScott Baio?
ReplyDeleteRelax space cowboy. U are being too literal. 100% Scott Baio
ReplyDeleteRelax space cowboy. U are being too literal. 100% Scott Baio
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was James Van Der Beek. While he makes fun of himself he could have been knocked down a peg nonetheless.JVDB for FTW!
ReplyDeleteScot bugsey malone baio! Hes a total nut job. Thinks he's a huge star. Twitter fights, crazy crazy. Chaichii
ReplyDeleteok, so it's scott baio. even though he does NOT have a show on network---and he's exec producer on the one he does have on nick at nite. meaning nobody hired him---he hired himself.
ReplyDeleteand even though he has ONE child, in spite of the clue 'all those mouths to feed.'
this is not scott baio.
Baio
ReplyDeleteImmediately thought of JvdB but so hope it's not him as I love him in Don't Trust the B
ReplyDeleteNone of the guesses really seem to fit yet. How many kids does Scott Baio have? Not enough to be 'many mouths to feed', I think.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the guess has been made yet....
I wonder if the ad that got away was the Stephen Dorff electronic cig. endorsement.....
ReplyDeleteI thought of Scott Baio.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I just adored him... dammit, he was so cute!
I want to go back & slap my teenage self.... and make me watch Xanadu 25,000 times as punishment...
:-)
Could it be Charlie Sheen? I am not sure if he did tv when he was younger but he sure was hot!! He definately has plenty of mouths to feed?
ReplyDeleteNo idea, but here's the clues:
ReplyDeleteIn the past:
--almost A-list
--in TV and movies
--major teen heartthrob
--major man ho' w/trail of women
--show got cancelled
--lost work from bad attitude
In the present:
--on a network show (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC)
--may get cancelled, low ratings
--married, has kids
--seen on the red carpet (in recent shots?)
--possible similar actor w/big endorsement
Baio's not in a network show, but other stuff fits (women, heartthrob, bad reputation.)
BAG is on TBS; not a heartthrob on 90210.
VDBeek fits, 2 kids, remarried, work after "Dawson" was small stuff until "Apt.23"
Rob Lowe could fit, although he's had many shows since his teen idol days. "Parks" isn't really a second chance.
I'm lazy and don't wanna look up the rest right now! :) It sounds like this guy is full of hot air... maybe he get an endorsement for popcorn? Vacuum cleaners? Party City's balloon display???
here is a another list of shows:
ReplyDeletehttp://tv.yahoo.com/news/tvs-soon-departed-series-swan-songs-hitting-notes-012500048.html
I was really hot on Baio due to his rep but the lots of kids thing is throwing me off. He only has 2.
This could be Mark Paul Gosselaar. According to wiki and who's dated who, he had romantic relationships with all of his saved by the bell female cast members. Rumors of him being a jerk exist. I could almost see this as David Boreanz.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the JVDB bus but I never watched Dawson's Creek and I like the B* in Apt 23. He really does make fun of his persona. He was just on a red carpet for some movie I don't think he was in.
ReplyDeleteJeez, he should be happy at any job with that Frankenstein forehead of his.
Maaannn, I just saw a talk show with a young-ish male actor that said he had 7 kinds, I cannot for the life of me place his face, and I am a bottomless pit of celebrity trash facts, so its annoying to not remember! pretty sure it was the wendy williams show I saw him on, did anyone see this interview too?
ReplyDelete@ Erin B
ReplyDeleteI read this as Ashton Kutcher the whole time!
I really don't want it to be The Beek, but...
ReplyDelete...although he had a "blast" filming the faux "DWTS" experience and actually had to learn to dance, he told the magazine he doesn't think he'll use his new skills on the real show.
"I think it's more fun to do it this way. You can play it for laughs and not have to do all that work!" he said.
(Dancing With the Stars could be an "endorsement" that led to a lot of other endorsements.)
ReplyDeleteIDK. JVDB fits. BUT he has made fun of himself for years on funnyordie. And he did actively work after DC. Not as a headliner, but on various shows, theater, and indie films.
ReplyDeleteFor me, that's a big piece that doesn't fit.
Jeremy Sisto seems likable enough, but he MAY fit the clues of having a big show cancelled (Law and Order), a network show now, and not much for a long time after several movie roles back in the day.
ReplyDeleteBAG is not the breadwinner, she is. And she is back in shape and back out there hustling for jobs. I feel bad for her. But BAG is not A list either, never ever ever. He was the afterthought on 90210. Luke Perry and Jason Priestly were much much bigger than BAG. Definitely not him.
ReplyDeleteI vote Beek. There was a blind about him acting like a tool at some party his wife was at.
ReplyDeleteMark-Paul Gosselaar!! has to be
MPG and Baio weren't really in any movies of note though. I'm on the JvdB bus.
ReplyDeleteGreek yogurt endorsement: Stamos is Greek, and I think the job was his from the start, unless the blind item answer is an actor who is also Greek.
ReplyDeleteIs it possible the "mouths to feed" isn't about children but a clue, like David Cassidy in a family show "Partridge Family" since little birds are mouth-fed? His background would fit, except he doesn't have a show listed on imdb.
Here is a link to actors with lots of kids: http://www.starpulse.com/news/Noelle_Talmon/2010/06/03/celebrities_with_tons_of_kids
TV but he numbers says Van der Douche's show is certain to be cancelled. I hated that show.
ReplyDelete@Anna--haha--duh! I didn't connect the dots about Stamos being Greek. :) So yea, not the right ad.
ReplyDeleteMay not fit perfectly but I thought of Patrick Dempsey instantly when I read this.
ReplyDeleteScott Baio
ReplyDeletehttp://www.parade.com/celebrity/celebrity-parade/2012/10/19-scott-baio-see-dad-run-new-show-getting-older.html
For some odd reason I read this as David Boreanaz (sp?), he was HUGE after Buffy and Angel, girls had posters on their wall of his face.. Ok, he has Bones now, but does that still do well? And tbh, he comes off as an arrogant dirtbag, but that's just my opinion xD
ReplyDelete@SYCB: He is a giant cheating dirtbag who needs Willow to a cast an anti-douchebag spell on him for ruining Angel's reputation. And maybe throw in a Valtrex rx.
ReplyDeleteI think it's mcdreamy
ReplyDeleteDBZee: OMFG, that masturbation story in one of the links of that page is GROSS.
ReplyDeleteSo staying with douchebag Boreanaz xD
PATRICK dEMPSEY
