Elmo Being Accused By 5th Underage Teen

I'm not sure how Kevin Clash had time to be the voice of Elmo because it sounds like eh spent most of his time finding 15 and 16 year old boys to have sex with him. This week, a fifth underage accuser has come forward and said that when he was 16 he went on a gay telephone chat line and ended up meeting Elmo. Apparently Kevin would send a car for the teen and bring him to Clash's apartment in Manhattan where the two would have sex after Clash would get the teen drunk.

  1. gross and sad. and hasn't this guy been arrested yet?

  2. As with Travolta, I was willing to write off one or two accusers, but where there's smoke...

And this dood definitely has a type - just about or a shade over legal. Maybe it happening like that once in your life (if that!) I can give a pass to; however, continually seeking that age out - at his age?

    That shit stinks.

    Elmo go bye bye!

  3. Kids that age think they can handle it, think they know what they're getting into. So sad.
    This song makes me sob:

  6. ARGH!!!!!!

Elmo was huge when my boys were little and they liked him more than Barney, so I was OK with it. His voice was annoying but nothing like that freakin' prozac purple dinosaur.

If it comes out that Bear in the Big Blue House was an a*hole who abused kids, I will curl up into a ball and sob. Not Bear!!

BTW, did you Chris Brown did a song with Elmo about signs?

    1. @Izzie - you hush your mouth with that BITBBH talk! That was MY favorite when my son was small. We were cleaning his room recently and he was ready to give away all his stuffed BITBBH things and I was like "Uh, no. While these may not hold much meaning to YOU from when you were younger, they completely encapsulate it for ME".

And...my favorite thing about brushing my teeth is shucka-shucka-shucka-shucka-shucka-shucka-shucka.

    2. @Lucas - I remember we talked about this before and that story was so sweet! Everyone once in a while I make the teen laugh by singing "come on everybody, let's clean up the house" and doing the Pip & Pop dance. He thinks I'm absolutely ridiculous, but he sings along with me. I love Bear for that.

Reminds me, next time those two get in a fight, I'm going make them listen to Otter Love again. L-O-V-E, loooove, that's Otter Love!

    3. @Izzie - I am so going to have that stuck in my head all day. And I so just listened to it. Twice. Yay!

    4. BITBBH is the shit. My boys both loved it and we wore OUT every DVD we had. We went to Disneyland one year and saw bear in all his 6 ft glory at playhouse Disney and *I* cried...damn hormones!!!

  7. I remember seeing him on The Daily Show and thinking how awesome his story was and how much happiness he had brought to kids thru Elmo.

    Now I'm disgusted.

  8. *did you know, that is

And damn, "signs" - that's irony waiting to happen.

  9. He won't be arrested the limitiations clock ran out a long time ago

He's just being convicted in the court of public opinion and lawsuits which might not even be valid time wise either

  10. The mother in me is feeling very castrate-y

  11. Dewie, I completely agree with you. Libby, you too.

Every adult should feel protective towards children and preserve their innocence, even when they are doing their damnedest to get rid of it.

I don't care what a child is doing or how they are behaving, whether they have boobs or beards, they are still children. This is so disheartening. Some people really suck.

  14. My daughter is 3 and for about 6 months, Elmo could do no wrong.

I remember watching Becoming Elmo and thinking wow, what a great inspirational story. And then the first accuser came out and I was like no way I believe this and then the next and the next and the next. Just too many for it not to be true.

  15. But can we please stop saying elmo and call him Kevin Clash. Elmo takes it to the next level of creepiness.

  16. His message was so inspirational in the documentary about his life. I was really moved by his story. Was that just a good filmmaker at work? Were we dooped there too?

When stuff like this happens I always wonder who knew and didn't speak up. These boys are still boys at the end of the day. It also makes me wonder if Kevin was molested as a young man and is perpetuating the cycle.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm sure there are more boys.

    Ditto what @KendraWM said.

    ReplyDelete
  18. @die papaya Yes, I was thinking too that Clash was probably molested as a teen and that's why he seeks them out. I mean, they clearly show in the biography that he was working very closely with adults from a very young age while on all these tv shows and traveling all over the states and learning about puppetry from these older men. Makes me sad for him too. :C

  19. My grandaughter used to call him Mo. Out of the mouths of babes. Long time lurker, first time poster.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It doesn't matter if he WAS molested when he was younger. It doesn't excuse what he has done. He knows it was wrong/illegal. Too many people who were molested when they were kids go on to have good lives where they don't molest kids. It was his CHOICE to do this, whether he has a bad past or not. No sympathy for him here.

  22. At best, Clash is a pederast; at worst, he is a predator. However, he does not appear to be a pedophile.

  25. @SusanB-Thank you!!! I was sexually abused as a child and while I certainly have my issues, I've never abused anyone!!

And, yes, please, stop calling him Elmo.

    Going back to Jim Morrison...

  26. Mr. Hooper would not approve but Elmo always made my kids laugh and I have fond memories of tickle me Elmo which is now forever ruined. it is sad this one creep can be besmirch Elmo's good name.

  27. @Lucas That story is so sweet. I must confess I have a little crush on you. You're funny, you're cute, you like curvy women, AND you're a wonderful father. Swoon! :-)

    1. @chopchop - awwww, thanks :) I wish I deserved the admiration. My two ex-wives will gladly tell you that the poster for the Mrs. Lucas show is way better than the flick itself.

Also - Nice Aaron Rodgers pic. I'm a fellow Packer fan - what were they thinking re-signing Jermichael Finley?

  28. I had heard rumors that Elmo thinks there is no right cookie. That you should just pick one and take a bite. That's the root of his problem:

    Elmo Say

  30. Yuck and ewwwwwww. Really. The damage done. Its a sin.

  31. @SusanB and Reese - just wanted to clarify that I don't condone anything he's done with these boys. It's still not ok. The sociologist in me is curious bc most abusers are created from abuse. Again that doesn't make it ok.

Sorry Reese for what you went through. Proud of your strength and courage for sharing. Hugs to you!

  32. This heathen show is totally twisted, almost as much as the BBC.

I hope the network CEO apologizes.

  33. I agree with the posters who said he may have been abused himself, especially when you look at his preference. That being said, I think an investigation should be done just to separate possible criminal actions from those who are coming for a payday, then he (Clash) should face something for this. Sad all around.

Ha ha! We were calling it Roostergate last summer because about 5 people confessed they thought it was a rooster eating an ear of corn! I'm weird, but not that weird!! :)

  35. If you watch "Being Elmo-A Puppeteer's Story" Kevin says that both of his parents were wonderful and supportive. Kevin had cut up his dad's winter coat to make a puppet because it had a faux fur lining. He thought he was going to be in big trouble but instead his dad just asked that he not cut up his coats. Yes, Kevin should have been making sure the boys were older than 18, but the boys were on that phone line and knew what they were getting into. It would be like a fat person ordering pizza delivery and then blaming them for their obesity when they brought the pizza.

  36. I'm still so disappointed in all this. Being Elmo was so great and then this news came out and it's just sad.

  38. I have 7 nephews in all. I know what each looked like at 16-17. He knew they were young. This makes me sick.

  39. I used to do the Elmo voice for my daughter, with the little puppet when I read the stories. I'm much better at it than he, since I never molested underage boys.

  40. I concur with other posters, please stop calling this guy "Elmo" and by his name... take the higher road, Towleroad.
