Lost Interview With Jim Morrison
In 1969, Jim Morrison gave an interview to the Village Voice. It was thought to be lost, but it has been found and PBS Digital cleaned it up and added animation and now you can hear Jim discuss why fat is beautiful. There are so few recordings of interviews with the legendary singer of The Doors that it is really cool to listen to him speak and the animation is great.
*swoon*
ReplyDeleteHe's hot. He's sexy. He's dead!
I love love love me some Doors and JDM!!! I'm @ a coffee shop in town and cannot listen but you can best believe I will be listening when I get home!!!
His voice was So.Damn.Sexy.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! So yum
DeleteMmmmhmmm...Mr. Mojo Risin <3
ReplyDeleteHe spoke so intelligently on a completely random subject. This clip has rekindled my teenage Doors obsession. Off to buy leather pants.
ReplyDeleteI loved that!
ReplyDeleteSexy, sexy man. Meeeeowwwwwwwww.
ReplyDeleteMy mom always talks about seeing him as a kid, The Doors opened for Simon & Garfunkel at Forrest Hills...she said he was the most beautiful man....and soooo hot.
ReplyDeleteOh man, Jim Morrison in his snake skin pants is a sight to behold. What a fox! ;)
ReplyDeleteSexy, sultry rock star poet. Swoon indeed!
ReplyDeletelove his voice. That's a great video. He sounds pretty coherent. He is delusional about what he weighs though. I looked it up he was 5'11" no way he was 150 lbs once he started putting on weight. Maybe at his skinniest he was 150 but I'd bet he was closer to 200 in that interview, around 250 when he died.
ReplyDeleteHe was a stone cold fox. skinny, fat, bearded it's all good.
I painted a mural of him on my bedroom ceiling when I was 14. Even though he was already dead, I luuuurrrrrvvvvved him. I start every road trip with 'Roadhouse Blues'. I laid on his tombstone in Paris. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteAs a teen, I would always wear black every 3 July.
ReplyDeleteI'm hungry.
ReplyDeleteA true poet...and a voice like SEX!
ReplyDeleteThe Doors suck. Worst band ever.
ReplyDeleteThe Doors suck. Worst band ever.
ReplyDeleteThat was pretty damn awesome. Thanks for the link, Enty :)
ReplyDeleteI saw him coupla times. Liked some music but wasnt all atwitter over him. He had serious drinking problem- he was one of those people who became very dark when drank. And mean and violent.
ReplyDeleteHah! I was eating lunch while watching this. I'm chewing watching Mr. Mojo Rising chew. It was actually cool.
ReplyDeleteI was a huge fan of the Doors back in the day. It's too bad this interview wasn't available for the special I saw on TV a couple of months ago so it could have been aired in context. I'm guessing he was nowhere near 150 when he did this interview.
ReplyDeleteAs for the drinking that came after they got him to stop dropping acid. I'm sure the show is around online somewhere or another.
I had a major crush on him for a few years back in High School. He'd been long dead by then, but it didn't matter. I loved the way he talked (and sang).
ReplyDeleteHe sounded like an interesting guy. He was hungry and he wanted to eat and if no one was going to order sandwiches at least he was going to talk about food. I loved his bullshit about weighing 150lbs. No one wants the fat Jim after the snakeskin pants.
ReplyDeleteI loved The Doors. Jim was something else. Val as Jim was pretty damn hot too. As for the fat is sexy thing, he was a man ahead of his time I suppose.
ReplyDelete"It's terrible to be thin and wispy, because, you know, you could... you could get knocked over, by a strong wind.. or something."
ReplyDeleteI lol'd. WHERE CAN I FIND A MAN LIKE THIS THAT WILL APPRECIATE MY NON-WISPY FORM???
The last album 'L.A. Woman' had ZERO live performances and ZERO videos out there, which at the time was not unusual, but sad now... He bolted to Europe right after, never to return :(
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny to watch my dad & godfather listen to The Doors. They daydream & swoon over Jim Morrison like teenage girls. Had I been alive, I would've stalked him all the way to Europe. He was so talented and absolutely gorgeous. I always hoped Heath Ledger would play him in a biopic, but that dream is now gone.
ReplyDeleteVal Kilmer did a great job playing him too. Sorry if I sound a bit high, I'm on a sugar rush. ;)
DeleteHis sister once said that when his parents asked him what he wanted as a present when he was graduated from high school, he requested a set of the complete works of Nietzsche!
ReplyDeleteLove me some Jim Morrison. I wish I had been around when The Doors played. Thanks for posting this. I bet he was great to just have a conversation with.
ReplyDeleteHe talks about eating grits. He must have attended a southern college. Ummmm, GRITS.
