Yay for Downton Abbey noms!! :-D

Arrested Development? I loved that show but didn't it end years ago??

HannahBanana said...

Maybe it's just me, but I loved season 1 of American Horror Story. However it just seemed like they tried to much in S2. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much.

And Girls?! Really? This season was awfulllllll. Don't encourage dunhams ego, please!

HannahBanana said...

Oh & BEhind the Candleabra should WIN EVERYTHING!!!! Lol!!! I loved it!!!

Did I really read that Laura Linney was not on this list? She killed on her final 4 episodes of The Big C. I've never cried so hard in my life over a show! Damn!

Kristin Wigs said...

Do you think Lindsay watched, hoping for a nomination for Liz & Dick?

"Damn Laura Linney," (stubs out a Newport) "That should have been me."

Bleu said...

Elizabeth Moss as lead actress on Mad Men? Do they have a best supporting category instead?

VIPblonde said...

Are there missing categories?!
Here's the full list

FSP said...

@HannahBanana - I agree about AHS. S1 was great, not so much for S2.

Amy, Elisabeth Moss is considered lead for Mad Men, has been for years. Peggy gets far more screen time than Joan (Hendricks was nominated again this year in Supporting), Betty or Sally (Shipka should have been nominated this year).

I'm very happy to see Mr. Gunn recognized as co-host.

And of course, Cumbersnatch scored a nomination (yay!) though he has no prayer facing off against Michael Douglas.

@figgy - there is a new season on netflix. not as good as the first three, but qualifying for the emmys.

StewMcG said...

No love for Vincent Kartheiser? Pete Campbell had an amazing season and some really awesome lines ("Not great, Bob!")

Series 4!

Anonymous said...

Agreed!

I loved season 2 of AHS.

MAC said...

Me too. I watched the first couple episodes of season two and couldn't get into it and it's still sitting on my DVR. I loved the first season though.

@Stew,
Hear, hear!

Little Miss Smoke and Mirrors said...

Khaleesi nominated!

libby said...

Mad Men---Kartheiser did his best season yet, dammit! Also Kiernan Shipka was robbed---I thought she was a lock this year.

I feel bad that they will probably give another one to Cranston (totally deserved), over John Hamm, because Season 6 was Hamm's meatiest acting as Don/Dick yet, imo.
Hamm just might never win...How can he when he has to compete with Cranston every year though?

libby said...

*JON* Hamm. Ima dipshit w/ a BF named 'John'.

Renoblondee -

LEAD ACTRESS IN A TV MINISERIES OR MOVIE
Jessica Lange, American Horror Story: Asylum
Laura Linney, The Big C: hereafter
Helen Mirren, Phil Spector
Sigourney Weaver, Political Animals
Elisabeth Moss, Top of the Lake

No love for Game of Thrones here?
Definitely my fave show right now.

DewieTheBear said...

Libby, I totally agree. Hamm's episode for consideration was "In Care Of" - absolutely his finest acting this season, and one of his finest over all six seasons. My problem with the Emmys is the winner rut they get into, the year after year award going to the same person and nominations for shows that were funny, once, years ago (*coughModernFamilycough*).

Little Miss Smoke and Mirrors said...

FYI the actors submit themselves for the category they see fit. For example, Rob Lowe always submits for lead actor for Parks & Rec. In my mind, his character is definitely supporting. But in Rob's mind, he is an A-list actor, so he submits for lead. By contrast, Peter Dinklage is probably the lead actor in Thrones now, but he submits himself in the supporting category.

Little Miss Smoke and Mirrors said...

@ruby Thrones love here! I'm a little bummed Jaime Lannister didn't get nominated, but I didn't really expect it , it was more wishful thinking on my part.

crila16 said...

What other noms did AHS get? I only see they're up for Best Miniseries. Were any of the actors or actresses nominated?

Little Miss Smoke and Mirrors said...

PS totally agree with Vince Kartheiser love.

libby said...

Oh, Dewie....Don's character arc, aided by Sally....damn that shit was heartbreaking. That's why I thought Kiernan was a lock--because Don's downfall has been all because of his love for Sally. She acted her ASS off, especially this year, and especially for her age.....But what do I know?
---

To any Breaking Bad fans---Jonathan Banks, who played Mike Ehrmantraut, got a Supporting Actor nom along w/ Aaron Paul. I know the Emmys love Aaron Paul, but Banks was SO great as Mike. So great. Glad he got recognized, would love him to win as the dark horse nominee.

Unknown said...

@Little Miss Smoke & Mirrors.....wishful thinking on my part, too!!!!
Have you read any of the books?
I seriously cannot get enough of this show!

I hope alec baldwin wins so he can tell the "queens" what he would do to them, threaten everybody in the room and beat someone up while doing the speech.

Rebecca said...

Sarah Manning and the clones were robbed, robbed I tell you!!!

Kelly said...

@Little Miss
Thank you! I thought Enty's list looked short. LOL Whew!
On a side note, I hope Cat Deeley finally wins.

DewieTheBear said...

Libby, I completely thought Kiernan was a lock. No offense to Ms. Hendricks but there was no "Other Woman"-caliber showcase for Joan this season. I think Weiner made some major misfires this year (the Bob Benson MacGuffin, too much Megan, etc.) that took away from more interesting narratives (Joan/Avon, Ginsberg, Henry's political ambitions), but Sally's development was a revelation and amazing showcase for Ms. Shipka. That last episode was killer work by all.

Fluffy White Clouds said...

@libby thanks for that! Loved Mike on BB

Yay for Dontown Abbey! Can't wait for it's return.

Elizabeth Moss was pretty amazing in Top of the Lake. Awesome show. Great performance.

Agreed Laura Linney should have been nominated.

For a twisted reason or other I love AHS. Season one was better, but enjoyed season 2..

For some reason I thought Hemlock Grove was nominated.. Another one I'm excited to see return.

L said...

Kind of bummed for the lack of love for Game of Thrones and Hannibal..

Kristin Wigs said...

Laura Lunney was nominated for Best Actress in a miniseries.

Super F*cking Awesome Katelyn said...

Surprised Catelyn Stark wasn't nominated if only for her acting during the red wedding. I thought she was great.

car54 said...

Very sad to see Hannibal not given anything--it is a fantastic (if very bloody) show and both the leads are great.

So happy to see House of Cards recognized. Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright give brilliant performances.

rajahcat said...

OK why no nomination for Jennifer Carpenter for best supporting on Dexter???

Maybe it will come next year when this season ends

Love House of Cards and AHS Season 2

Little Miss Smoke and Mirrors said...

@Ruby I haven't read the books. Was going to after S1, but decided the surprises onscreen were so great that I'd wait until the series is over. I've remained unspoiled so it's been a thrill! You?

O'Really said...

Still nothing for Justified....damn shame. And I agree with Reno, it's time for Cat Deely to win. I'm a certified SYTYCD addict. Each season is better than the last and the talent on that show is mind blowing.
I think S2 of AHS took a while to get interesting. Once it did, it was really good. (Not great because of the aliens) I bow to my queen, Jessica Lange. She is nothing short of amazing.

Olive said...

Same.

Olive said...

This! Very disappointing. Tatiana Maslany is amazing!

Ja'mie King said...

Good!! I love that show and every actor who has ever appeared on it. Mike was great, though. I get weirded out when Badger showed up on The Office, though. And I think he was in a commercial or two. His voice is pretty unique, so it was weird to hear him shill for Right Guard AND meth.

Ja'mie King said...

Breaking Bad should sweep it all! Not that I don't have love for other shows nominated, but that show is the creme de la creme. Kinda unfair competition IMO.

L said...

Also sad for no mention of Sherlock... :(

I'm sorry, but just because a show is 1/2 hour, doesn't make it a comedy. Girls has ZERO laughs in it and might as well be called Life Through the Eyes of a Twunt.

iheartjacksparrow said...

Agreed! While I love AHS 1, it was just about dead people in a house. AHS 2 was so much more interesting with all the different plot lines. And the acting was better, too. My only complaint about the nominations is that Lily Rabe wasn't recognized for her amazing work.

Lioness70 said...

S2 was too dark for me. I only watched the first and last episodes. S3 looks promising. Ryan Murphy promised more fun, like S1.

TuesdayAdams said...

Yay kerry! Scandal ftw!

Tatiana Maslany was ROBBED

esseva said...

Season 2 was kind of a mess

esseva said...

I'd love to see Hugh Dancy nominated! He transforms from a charming British man to an asbergersy American FBI agent extremely well.

Unknown said...

@little miss smoke & mirrors.
I downloaded them onto my nook to read on the beach next month....onscreen surprises be damned!
;)

Susan said...

I agree that Sally Draper was ROBBED, and between witnessing a home break-in and your dad getting freaky with the neighbor down the hall, I think it's safe to say the girl had a rough year.

And don't get me started on Pete Campbell. That guy is PHENOMENAL. Whenever I'm getting irked by something, I declare, "Christ on a cracker" a la Pete Campbell, and I laugh my ass off.

I felt like this season of Mad Men was cut way too short, and I agree there should have been more focus on Avon and Joan and Peggy. I love the Mad Men ladies! My fave moment was when Betty Draper Don Drapered Don Draper at summer camp. Fabulous!

Jenn said...

No Orphan Black, Hannibal, or Elementary? Pfft to these people!!

Gabby said...

@Dewie - TOTALLY agree with you re: awards repetition and Modern Family. In fact, a few months ago I watched an episode of Parks and Rec and immediately followed with an episode of Modern Family, and couldn't believe how bad the acting was on Modern Family in comparison! And they've resorted to such easy humor and jokes recently, too. A whole episode about women and their behavior while on their periods? COME ON!!!

Gabby said...

@Rebecca - I too was shocked that Tatiana didn't receive a nom! I thought for sure she and Claire Danes would be battling it out for the win!
