Karen Black Has Died

Karen Black, the prolific actress who appeared in more than 100 movies and was featured in such favorites as "Easy Rider," ''Five Easy Pieces" and "Nashville," has died. Black's husband, Stephen Eckelberry, says the actress died from complications from cancer. She was 74.

  2. I heard this while I was at work and I didn't really let it hit me till I got home. I loved her, love her now, admire her, laugh when she's goofy onscreen, and I've been watching "The Strange Possession" and Burnt Offerings and even the Trilogy of Terror on Youtube recently -- I love her face. She's the best.

Loved Karen Black! In some of the best cult movies. Hope she didn't suffer.

    1. From what I've read, sounds like she suffered horribly, unfortunately.

Oh Moose, this news upsets me. It's so fucking hard on the family/loved ones standing by & having to watch their loved ones suffer.
I think Enty needs to give us a feel good post, maybe with kittens?, to offset all the horrible posts thus far.

  5. I had a Karen Black poster hanging in my college dorm room. Lived that woman.

  6. She was in "family plot". Anyone who has worked with Hitchcock (although it is not a great movie) deserves respect.

    RIP

  8. I liked her, too. My bestie once told me I resembled her...I was a little traumatized by that, but after looking at some photos of her, I am now very flattered. RIP Ms. Black.

  9. I feel I need to clarify ^: I always thought she was pretty but in an unconventional way. We...meaning my friends and I...wanted to look like, say...Christie Brinkley. :)

  14. F*cking cancer.

I was reading an article on her yesterday and yes Karen Black was in a bunch of highly-acclaimed films, but in the comments once someone mentioned the Trilogy of Terror segment with the fetish doll people just focused on that. I think that's the hallmark of a phenomenal actor though- to be memorably outstanding in the pulp stuff as well as the arty stuff.

  16. RIP Karen Black.

However, I am going to be mean about this: If she hadn't spent so much $$$ on Scientology (she's been in the cult since the 1970s), they wouldn't have had to start a crowdfunding campaign to pay for experimental treatments in Europe.

  23. Aw, so sad. I've always respected her, she was a very hardworking actress, often appearing in B movies simply because she loved acting
