Your Turn

With the revelation that Eliot Spitzer is cheating on his wife after she forgave him for the whole hooker thing and Anthony Weiner cheating on his wife, what percentage of politicians do you think cheat on their spouses? Is it higher than the normal population?

  1. YES - MUCH HIGHER - they all have god complexes

  2. 99% of the men. 10% of the women.

  3. Higher. Like male musicians, athletes, and actors, they have more women throwing themselves at them. So they succumb. Ladies, your regular partner probably would too under those circumstances.

  4. I think any one in a relationship cheats at one point. Either physically or emotionally.

  5. I agree with Chris...women have no qualms about throwing themselves at a man like that. Resistance can only last so long.

  6. It's higher. Certain personalities--ones that crave lots and lots of outside affirmation and admiration--gravitate towards those jobs. It's not just because a LOT of women chase men with power. It's because men who seek political jobs crave affirmation of their power.

  7. What baffles me most about any public cheating "scandal" is the woman they cheated with is never nearly as attractive as the wife.

    1. Justifies tge cheating in some ways. Gets them off the hook somehow-It didn't MEAN anything, honey! Trust me, men compartmentalize. Though Spitzer's original escort that he got caught with was kind of pretty if dumb as a box of rocks.

I had friends in the provider/escort biz. You would not belueve the range of guys-from young kids to old old men. A LOT of the work is actually more about touch and intimacy. There are lots of providers who do not have 'sex' with their clients. A great deal of loneliness, and needs that the partners cannot or will not fulfill.

Sex is such a mystery and the shame most of us are raised with makes it really difficult to have a happy, healthy sex life.

With politicians, i belueve that they are catered to and protected and belueve they are untouchable. Most ARE. The ones you hear about are typically tge targets of a take-down or are enormously reckless and doung things in such an obvious way there is no hope gfor them.

Spitzer's first situation was a take-down. So was Weiner's but the second time for both of them is just plain stupidity. In the middle of a political campaign. Just eedjits.

    2. Wiener's was not a take down - he tweeted a crotch-shot to the world. No one to blame but himself.

  8. All of them cheat. I read somewhere that men are only faithful in relation to their opportunities. More willing women equals number of times the man will cheat. From the husband with his secretary to rock stars with hundreds of groupies, if there is a woman that will, he will. If Jughead Eliot Spitzer can find a willing woman then so can the rest. Their wives need to drop those losers and live their own best lives.

  10. Power and money are aphrodisiacs for fame whores and gold diggers.

  11. Disagree, Tracy. Men, like women, can make a choice to act in accordance to whatever agreement they have with their partners (and in this case, one's assuming monogamy is that agreement). Those who value that commitment over their own pleasure--AND those who know they'll lose everything if they cheat (my uncle)--won't cheat. Some people, however, value stroking their own ego or having a power trip over the long term. They may be too narcissistic to believe they'll be caught.

yes I do think it's higher than the normal population. unfortunately the type of man who would seek the spotlight of a political career is the type to enjoy the adulation, attention, love, admiration and adoration of millions. That kind of megaloegomaniac would be looking forward to enjoying their adoring female fans worshipping them in every sense of the word.

  15. I also kind've think a lot of these women have "arrangements" with the men they are marrying. They get the life of a wealthy politicians wife and, all the accoutrements and, the men get to do what they want as long as they don't get caught. Sometimes I wonder when he was caught with a hooker if his wife was devastated her soul mate was cheating or, that he got caught and embarrassed her.

Business arrangement marriages seem really common in the political arena...look at Bill & Hilary, do any of you think they were ever devastatingly in love or, was it that they both were a good "fit" that would help the other's cause in politics?

    Just a thought...

  16. I don't believe that every politician is prone to cheating, but it is higher than the general population. There are some very honorable men and women holding public office, but they aren't the ones who seek the spotlight. Sometimes the spotlight is thrust on them, but most of the time, they stick to the sidellines.

  17. All of them. GOP bang hookers and young boys. Dems bang each other. It is how they get things done.

  19. Based on my experiences on the inside of the state legislature of one of the largest states in the US, much higher. Compared to what I've seen in private industry and other social milieus, much higher.

What amazed me was how little the feminist-minded legislative staff cared about the philandering. For example, a then-married legislator (now the mayor of a major city) was known as a complete horndog, but none of the women I knew who dealt with him seemed to care.

  20. I don't believe that the only thing keeping men faithful is lack of opportunity either. If Mr. Kay ever cheated on me I'd be more shocked than anything else. He's just a good, decent, honourable guy and he would just never. My dad was like that too. Neither of them would make a good politician. *L*

  21. Much higher. My father was a politician and I dated the son of a cabinet member. Power attracts, plus just because they're on TV or in the media, it's a big turn on. Close girl friends and my sister used to hit on my boyfriend, right in front of me!

  22. I think 85% of politicians cheat on their significant others. No, I don't think that's higher than the general population.

  23. I'd say 90 percent.

  24. It's higher because politicians are geeky, slimy and mostly unattractive guys who don't appear to have much of a conscience. Some women dig men with power, so they get more opportunities to stray than the average male, and boy do they.

Is Weiner balling his communications director? Who
    Is Spitzer balling?
