Bethenny Frankel's Talk Show Has Been Canceled

Bethenny Frankel is going to have to find a new way to try and make money and to stay famous. That is what she really wants. The show will stay on the air until May and will probably end up featuring guests that no one else wants. It actually stayed on the air a little longer than I thought it would but she was doomed because she just couldn't get the name guests and wasn't liked by her staff or her bosses. Oh, or the vast majority of the viewing public which is kind of a necessity if you want people to choose your show among all the alternatives.

  5. It's tough to be a talk show host. My mom tried and it just all went to hell, even with Kay stopping by with N.
    It's not an easy gig.

    1. I loved that clip from when Kanye visited Kris's show and he was hugging her and smiling. He looked like he was holding a large fart. Kris was giggling and teary-eyed with adoration.

    2. My visit to Kris' show was probably the best one. Everyone learned a lot about LD that day including myself.

  6. The two girls I know who really liked her, back on HWNYC and then on her shows progressively liked her less with each TV show. By the time the talk show came about they had moved to active dislike, so I have to blame Bethenny herself. If you have a popular image, for goodness sake maintain the fake image.

  7. She is still the housewife that has done the best from those shows; got a spunky personality. And an adorable little girl

  8. Every morning I go by where they film her show, and the line has been getting shorter and shorter everytime.

  9. I watched once or twice, but she was just so smug and unlikable that I couldn't continue. Funny, I liked some of her SkinnyGirl products, I enjoyed most of her books (mostly for the recipes; her own "way of eating" sounds slightly disordered to me), and I even liked her way back when on RHONY, but her story has just become tiresome (said à la Dieter from Sprockets). It's what Mari said...she's just gradually become insufferable.

  10. I like her. She's an opinionated, strong self made woman and people love to hate those. Yes she has a big personality/mouth but I appreciate those things in a woman. She's a risk taker and a good role model for business women. I get if she's not your cup of tea, but I seriously don't understand the HATE. Why wish her ill?

  12. I don't understand how so many people get a chance at a talk show. It seems like it is so hard to do a successful one. Does Bethenny have any appeal at all?

I think Rachael Ray and Wendy Williams are two stellar talk show hosts. I don't always love them or agree with them, but they have the personality and the charisma to pull it off. It seems like such a hard job. And when Wendy Williams' wig travels around the world, I die. This Bethenny broad is like bitchy burnt stale toast.

Talk shows are outrageously cheap to produce, even cheaper than other reality shows. It is relatively easy to get a shot at one. Then they need a relatively small but niche audience to justify continuing, ad dollars-wise. The daytime housewife audience is hugely influential in household spend. Blah blah blah, magic: that's how you get so many talk shows. It also accounts for Man Vs Food.

  14. The only time I watched this, was when I forgot to change the channel after General Hospital.

It was a harmless show, not that great, not that bad.. just there.

The only thing worse could be the crap my local ABC replaces it with.

    1. Hey, 888, let your hubby know there's a sale on Miller Light at the local 7-11! Cut the guy some slack on V-Day, living with a Klanswoman can't be easy.

  16. I swear I recently read it was picked up for one more year?!? I watch occasionally and I think she has gotten better. She doesn't talk over her guests as much and listens more.

  22. She talks too fast. It is hard to listen to something like that for too long.

  23. Her show is actually pretty good though. Especially if you enjoy reality tv stars as guests ... Which I do

    Oh bugger!

I don't like her, but what I did like (and for those who've heard me say this before, skip over) - was the little segments she had at the end of most show.

One time, she had this clever eyebrow technician who taught everyone how to shape their eyebrows properly; another time, she had a very talented make-up artist on who showed some fresh techniques for 2014; and then there was the time there was a lady on who showed how to cram more into your suitcase through clever packing.

I agree she spoke too fast ... she also lacked the natural charm that most good talk show hosts have - in her defence, she was probablyfoc using on listening to the producer talking in her ear, which can be really hard to do at the same time as looking interested in what your guests are saying, but still ...

  25. Pleasure, Susan - happy to share my meagre knowledge ;)

I think it's interesting to remember that any tv show (excepting those on non commercial networks) have one single motivation, which is to make revenue by being able to sell the ad space. That's it - doesn't matter what the network, producer, often even the writer says, it's about making a good show that gets popular so they can sell more ad space at higher rates.

    Money money money ... :)
