Your Turn
How much of the Winter Olympics are you going to watch? Personally I think if I see it while flipping I might stop and watch, but I'm not going to go looking for it even for the hockey which I love. I do love all the news stories from Sochi though because each one just makes you wonder how anyone thought this was a good idea.
Ice hockey if it is live that is it.
ReplyDeletemaybe the hockey if Canada is in the finals...
ReplyDeleteThis is the year I plan on introducing my 7yo daughter to the Olympics. We are gonna post up in front of the TV with snacks and computer games.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait!
Bruce tries to get us to watch but it never really works. I've got paid appearances I need to go to.
ReplyDeleteOh, nice, Fancy! My daughter turns 7 in a couple weeks too.. thanks for the idea all little girls like the ice skaters :o)
ReplyDeleteYou should see Bruce when the summer Olympics is on! He goes nuts!
ReplyDeleteApproximately zero.
ReplyDeleteIce skating! Maybe skiing and snowboarding.
ReplyDeleteAll of it!! I have a bad feeling about it though, I think something bad is going to happen.
ReplyDeleteI'll be watching it with my boys!
ReplyDeleteMe? Not so much... But I fully understand aemesh wanting to expose their kids to the Olympics. Hopefully by the time they grow up, the IOC will not be the corrupt and vile organization it has become today and will put on games that represent the true spirit of the Olympics.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, I watched all of the Olympics that I could. Now, if it is on at the bar, I'll kinda pay attention.
ReplyDeleteGonna be amazed if the games aren't a complete cluster fuck. Russia is not ready for prime time.
Unless Lochte, Usain Bolt, Shaq, and Michael "don't look at the face" Phelps decide to take up bobsledding, I'll probably pass.
ReplyDeleteAbout half.
ReplyDelete@cc423.. awww, really?? Please don't tell me it's like Lance Armstrong! :/
ReplyDeleteWe've got Olympic fever 'round this joint, but we're scared that Sochi is just too ripe for a horrible terrorist incident. Not to mention how insanely unready the hotels, roads, etc., are - I guess lots of money is lining people's pockets, huh?
ReplyDeleteMy '70's heart is happy that we can openly hate on the Russians again - an enemy I can really get my head around. I might even run a nuclear bomb drill or two just for old times' sake. Under the desk with your head between your knees, people - duck and cover!!
ReplyDeleteThere is a boy from my hometown competeing in the freeski comps! I'll be watching!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the winter Olympics to the summer but the tv coverage has really sucked for quite some time. I'll probably DVR so we can skip over the lame stuff. I love the parade of nations but my husband hates Costas so we watch it with the sound off. Ice skating will be girl time with my 9 year old daughter also.
ReplyDeleteI'm more looking forward to the logistics trainwrecks than the sports.
ReplyDeleteLove many of the competitions, so I will probably tune in for those, and for opening/closing ceremonies. Like everyone else, I'm expecting a train wreck at best and a terrorist event at worst.
ReplyDelete@Turkish Taffy- me too. I'm curious to see what will go wrong.
ReplyDeleteI feel torn because I do love me some Olympics but with all the social political stuff and now this report of killing stray dogs, I don't know if I can watch. I do think it could end up being a giant train wreck.
ReplyDeleteAbsolute favorite sports to watch: bobsled, luge, figure skating (looking forward to the new team events), downhill skiing, snowboarding, and curling. Top it off with the location nightmares and whatever other crazy drama that might go down and this could be the most exciting 2 weeks of tv coverage in a long, long time! Get your schedule at http://www.sochi2014.com/en/schedule-and-results
ReplyDeleteI love some of the events, so I'll probably watch some.
ReplyDeleteThe Russians rounding up and killing over a thousand dogs and cats so they don't "wander in and ruin an event" has got me hopping mad though.
The anti gay thing bothers me too. This was not the best choice for any politics free venue.
Boring sports, probably not televised here, chicks with too much clothes on... Unless I find that curling shit one day while changing TV channels, I won't watch anything.
ReplyDeleteYou guys, we have to watch the Olympics! Putin is as close to a real-life Dr. Evil that if he doesn't try to kidnap at least all the US figure skate, I will be sorely disappointed. Plus all the ring of steel business, 40,000 guards around Sochi, no way he's not growing a mustache to twirl.
ReplyDeleteI loved the 2010 Olympics, great show. If a winner doesn't chug a beer on the way to the podium this time, will be a letdown for sure. Go Canada!
I'm not watching any of it. I couldn't care less.
ReplyDeleteMen's ice hockey. Go Czech Republic! Jaromir Jagr is my favorite player.
ReplyDeleteI won't watch any of it. NBC is so worried the competition won't be dramatic enough that instead of showing the games they pre-script those insipid profiles of US-only athletes who do "inspiring" things like get up early to practice.
ReplyDeleteI will be watching everything that I possibly can. I am an Olympics junkie
ReplyDeleteEvery single thing I can get my eyes on! I do hate that the only bits of the competitions are shown are usually the top 5 athletes/teams. I want to see everyone! They worked so hard to get there!
ReplyDeleteHate the olympics, think huge waste of money, build a hospital or something but i am enjoying the PISS out of these hotel pictures!!!!!! Really, 2 unhooked up urinals in the lobby?? Yelliw water?? 2sude by side toilets, with 4 office chairs opposite them? And they dont like gay oeopke, lol. I mean, are these workers on drugs? Are they unable to read blueprints? Do they think 2people want to sit and shit next to each other? I mean, this stuff is gold!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnybody who thinks having a winter sportsgavanza at a summer resort needs to be....um...
ReplyDeleteUm....
What do you do with a problem like Putin?
I prefer the summer Olympics, but I love winter games too. Curling, luge, snowboarding are my favorites. I'm having an opening ceremony party tomorrow night, the family will come over. It's gonna be great.
ReplyDeleteNONE. Anything NIKE's involved in, I ain't. IMMA PERFORMANCE ATHLETE SUCKAS! #1ON1-2NO1 #YEEZUS #ULOSE #NIKEsmallballs
ReplyDeleteWhat do you do with a problem like Putin? You have him wacked and blame it on a Chechen, Ukrainian or Gay.
ReplyDeleteI want to watch ice dancing to cheer for Meryl Davis and Charlie White, who are Detroiters.
ReplyDeleteYou do know poisoning strays is common in many places?!?!? Works for me because street dogs are diseased. Better idea to round them up and feed people while the animals are healthy. It's sad to see house pets alone on the street, sick, hungry. People don't care for animals when they're struggling for food and shelter.
ReplyDeleteThis Game is costing 50+ BILLION dollars - Putin is so Dr.Evil, that I'm a little scared to tell the truth.
ReplyDeleteEveryone thought Greece was not going to pull it together, they did. The Russians, holding breath.
I'll be watching, some sports, from the safety of another continent. I don't think it will go well and I'm not an alarmist, but....
Who thought it was a good idea? Putin and the IOC. Draw your own conclusions. I sure did.
ReplyDeleteI love the Winter Olympics (also the Summer Olympics), but I'm mostly giving this Games a pass. I have too much on my own plate to watch television very often at all, and I'm not supportive of Russia's stance on gay people among other things. So not so much Olympics-watching for me this time.
ReplyDeleteI'll watch the skiing and a few other random events, but I too am disgusted by the killing of all these stray dogs. Most of them were abandoned by families whose homes were torn down to make way for the various sporting venues. Ugh.
ReplyDeletePolina is one of my students! I will watch her skate.
ReplyDeleteIt will be on in the background but the news coverage is another story.
ReplyDeleteHaving the Olympics highlights the problems the host country has been concealing. The spotlight of the world is on the USSR and they are going to have a hard time keeping the reporters under control... :-)
Story:the King would visit an upstart noble in the court and have
Oops, anyway and have them host the King and his court until the upstart was broke and could no longer cause problems...
ReplyDeleteThink it could work?
