Turkey is for Thanksgiving and sometimes sandwiches. It is not for grinding up or making bacon.

Anyone been watching Big Brother Canada?? It was so disappointing that the Drag Queen was not voted to be in the house!? : (
Turkey is the BEST for sandwiches, and also a good word for people who dump on other people and then delete their posts.
I don't like wearing turtlenecks. They make me feel like someone's trying to choke me.
don't be a meat snob
Turtle necks are ugly and make me look like a turtle.
TURTLE TIME!!!
@Seven
Zing, sister!
Amen, Seven!
Everybody in the family (I can't eat meat) likes it, which is very unusual. For bacon though? No. Ground? Yuck. My kids wouldn't even try turkey bacon. It ruins bacon and it ruins turkey.
Agreed. Too dry. I do love a good turkey sandwich, however, with plenty of avocado and lemon pepper.
How many times do I have to tell you people?!?!
STAY ON TOPIC!!!!!! ;(
And some say cucumbers taste better pickled.
Actually...turkey bacon is pretty good.
The only food item replaced with turkey that has been *literally* acceptable to my family is Hormel Chili made with turkey.
I like turkey bacon better actually...now soy or tofu bacon is trully disgusting
@Jenny and Anna
Maybe some has improved over the years, that's good to know!
I think I will cook some corned beef with Yukon Gold potatoes tonight. Use the leftovers in the morning to make a big skillet of hash.
Putting on a pair of new socks is the best.
Turkey burgers are awful! I also cannot wear a turtleneck. "It's like a midget on your back trying to take you down."
Ground turkey is an awesome sub for ground meat - its all in the spices (i.e. smoked paprika, baybay!). While I will suffer turkey bacon,nothing -- and I MEAN nothing -- can replace delicious delicious bacon.
I made corned beef last night (it's on sale, thank you, St Paddy!) but I unknowingly bought only one package. Stupid!
The absolute best corned beef ever is to remove the fat, boil it in Irish beer for 2 hours, then put it in a glass baking dish and cover it with a glaze of honey, brown sugar, and mustard, then bake it at 350 for 20-30 minutes. Slice up some potatoes and carrots and cook it in the broth left over from boiling, add shredded cabbage during the last 10 minutes, and serve with a nice dry riesling.
Sounds wonderful, Seven. Thank you.
@Seven
That sounds like the perfect foodgasm for St. Patrick's Day. Hubby hates corned beef (wha??) but add honey, sugar and beer. Gosh this sounds delish
I actually fried up and ate a whole pound of Jimmy Dean this morning. And I feel that I'm a better man for doing so. If I die before 90 it will be due to wandering into an artillery barrage, not from consuming cured meats.
As to fowl...if drafted, I will not run; if nominated, I will not accept...but if elected I would...actually serve as president just long enough to kill and eat the White House Thanksgiving turkey. None of this "pardoning" bullshit. In my first and only year in office, I'm totally gonna eat that damn bird and then drink about eleven beers while watching the Seahawks kick the Cowboys' asses.
Enty, you should try turkey burgers from a good restaurant. They are yummy. The ones I cook at home tend to be too dry unfortunately. But they can be quite delish when served at a good restaurant.
@JennyS & @Nolesgirl, you're welcome! :) It really is good and I was annoyed by all the males eating out of the dish before it even cooled. Not cool, guys. :b
One other tip: put the spices from the packet in a tea ball, then you don't have to strain it or pick coriander out of your teeth.
@Seven of Eleven, you can take your leftovers and shred/dice/cut, etc. and make Irish egg rolls. I did that once and, as are all things deep-fried, they were delicious.
I actually just made turkey feta olive burgers the other night! May sound gross, but were totally awesome!
@B. Profane - now thats high-larious!!!
@Seven - I'm enamored by your recipes and urls
@Karen - you've just apexed the foodgasm LOL

As long as they're Ninjas. Not interested in turtles that aren't Ninjas. *hides second printing of first issue of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book from children* My precious!
They do. Cucumbers are nasty.
I just spent $14 on a lb and a half of decent turkey breast today .. Then I went to my moms house who spend $14 on 3.8 lbs from Costco. I had a total doh! moment. I'm still a little sad. I hate missing a good deal.
@derek, master of disguise, now that's a turtltely turtle neck!
